This is the fourth of a five-part series of guided mindfulness meditations to teach body awareness as a concentration technique.

Practicing training the attention to recognize and notice the physical body’s sensations and feelings without judging what’s found is the goal. We place the awareness on a body part, register or ‘take note’ of what exists at that point in time, allow it to be there- as it is, and then move on to the next. This helps us return to the present moment and with practice can remind us of the impermanent nature of feelings and perceptions. It’s also relaxing and centering. As you move your focus around the body you may notice the thoughts lessening their grip a bit, or the breath slowing down- without any effort at all.
