Since the beginning of the year, we have had a number of conversations with individuals and experts describing a fluid career. We have interviewed individuals to learn about their career paths and how they built a fluid career while pursuing their passions. We interviewed coaches who provided approaches and methods to embrace change. We discussed the impact of fear and how it can stop you from pursuing your dreams. All of these conversations and discussions addressed how you can shift your career, pursue your passions, and have the life you want.

A brief highlighted list of the podcasts we’ll be discussing, starting with most recent:

We’ll be doing a short recap of the discussions to date, the benefits and challenges of the different approaches to a fluid career one can take, and provide listeners with ideas to adapt to having a fluid career in their own lives.

What s a fluid career?

Dana Theus has been observing a new career trend  fluid careers. The average tenure of a job for professionals is 3.5 years. This means that someone could have up to 10-12 jobs in a lifetime and possibly 2-3+ careers. It is freeing, in that it gives people more control to design more work-life balance in their career over time, and anxiety-producing as it can feel less stable if one defines success as a job that lasts at least 10 years. This fluid employment trend takes into account the growth in both entrepreneurship and the Gig Economy, reductions in employee tenure, increases in employee dissatisfaction and increases in employee turnover.
