DAILY INSPIRATION

“Using the right Weapon”

Whether we want to admit it or not; all of us have had to face some serious internal and external battles at times. We have had to deal with battles in our mind, our body, on our job, at our school, at our Church and even in our own families. It doesn’t make you a bad person, if you’ve had more battles than others; and it doesn’t make you a good person if you’ve had less battles than others. What’s important to remember; is that, everyone has or will have to face battles in their life.

With that being said; the type of battle that I want to talk about today; is the battle that has been waged against you because you are a believer. See, you’ve got to understand; that the devil was furious when you said, “YES” to Jesus. The enemy knows that He lost someone that is going to be a powerful soldier in the army of the Lord, so he tries everything he can; to try to discourage you, damage your reputation and ultimately destroy you. I’m not sharing this with you to scare you or cause you to worry; I’m just helping you understand some of the attacks that you’ve had to deal with over the course of your life.

Here’s the beauty of it all; we are battling a defeated foe. Yes, I said it! We are battling a defeated enemy. We’ve already won!! The Bible makes it clear that no weapon that is formed against us will be able to prosper and that one day, all of our enemies will be crushed. Until that time, as we are living in this life; we must learn how to use the right weapons. One of the biggest mistakes we’ve made; is trying to fight a spiritual battle with natural weapons. We have to understand that revenge and retaliation is not going to be successful; even when someone has done you wrong. Unforgiveness will not bring victory; even if the other person was at fault. Gossip and slander will not prosper our cause; even if it makes us feel better in the moment. 2nd Corinthians 10:4 says, “the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds”. God doesn’t want us to use natural weapons to fight a spiritual battle because it’s a waste of time. Using the wrong weapons will only hurt the wrong people.

So, what should we do? The answer is: Use the powerful, unmatched, and the undefeated weapons that God has given us. We should use the Word of God because it is our compass: it’s a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. The Word is a bright light in the midst darkness, it’s food for our soul, breath to give us life, direction when we’re lost, healing when we’re hurt and a Sword against our enemy. We also have prayer; which is direct access to the one who gives us strategy, wisdom, understanding and ultimately the victory. Prayer is so amazing because it travels faster than the fastest jet created. Also, there are things that we can’t see and places that we don’t have permission to go: But prayer is NOT geographically restricted. You can pray anytime you want and for anyone that you want. I could go on and on about that dynamic weapons that God has given us; but I encourage you to read all of Ephesians Chapter 6 on your own time.

I leave you with this for the day: If you are ever feeling a little overwhelmed by the battle that you are in; just remember the weapons that God has given you; and remember that you are already victorious. Psalm 27 says these words, The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? 2.When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. 3.Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. 4.One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple. 5.For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
