DAILY INSPIRATION: “The Process”

Okay, let’s be real. Most of us don’t like to wait, and we normally don’t like going through a process, while we wait. We would much rather have whatever we want, right now or as fast as possible. This is why McDonalds and other Fast Food places are so popular. For this same reason, most every home has a microwave; and grocery stores have even added self-checkout lines so that people don’t have to wait. I haven’t even detailed how we act when the stop light doesn’t change fast enough or when the server takes too long to bring our food at a restaurant. I think you get the point; We don’t like to wait!

To be completely fair; it’s normal to expect things to go faster; especially with the tremendous advances in technology. Here is the problem: we have allowed for this mentality of “not waiting” to bleed into our everyday life and even into our relationship with God. When we skip steps to avoid waiting, we end up missing out on this beautiful thing called, “The Process”. Our unspoken feeling or assumption is that, waiting is going to harm us or hinder us in some way. We assume that waiting is going to decrease our value or the value of what we’re about to receive; when in reality, waiting gives us the privilege of going through a much-needed process. Some of us have even been upset with God, because we felt like He didn’t move fast enough. What we didn’t realize, is that God was giving us wisdom and developing our character during the process of waiting.

It’s important to understand, that there’s a process attached to every promise and there’s a process attached to every purpose. The Bible is full of great men and women of God, who accomplished great things during and after going through a process. Moses went through a process of shepherding his father-in-law’s sheep for 40 years; until one day God called him to shepherd over a million people. David was anointed King as a boy, but God allowed him to go through a 20 year process before he sat on the throne. These are NOT super human people, but these are people just like YOU and me. They received a GREAT call, went through a GREAT process, received GREAT things and experienced a GREAT God.

So from now on, instead of complaining about waiting; be grateful and value the process that God is taking you through. Honestly, going through a process gives you a greater level of appreciation for the things that you’ve accomplished. I’ll leave you with this: There are some amazing things that God desires to bring into our lives; but He is wise enough to take us through a process, so that we are prepared to receive what He has for us. God bless you and have a wonderful day!
