RATING
Proves that podcasting isn't something just anyone can do. The research sounds like it's coming straight off of a Google search. The writing and editing - or lack thereof - is pretty terrible. Hearing things like "the gas station's cashier was abducted inside" and "Between (a person) doing (this) and (that), .... " is hard to take seriously. If you're going to be reading 95% of your content, get an editor at the very least. The constant scoffing about the criminals and inappropriate times to make jokes is also hard to get past. This podcast needs a lot of work and better research and writing.
I will not be listening to Unfound again after this. Probably not a big deal to the creators, but after rejecting the idea that it's somewhat possible, even if it's only a 10% chance (I say it's a 60% chance after thinking it was impossible for months) that Israel Keyes is responsible for the disappearance of Suzy Lyall, I just can't take the host as an unbiased, credible narrator any more (and I've never contacted ED to ask what he thinks about IK). It's a closed minded view, and if Ed Dentzle listened to True Crime BS, a podcast with a host who's done a LOT of excellent research (multitudes better than ED's "research") on IK, maybe he wouldn't be so arrogantly dismissive. To make it even more ironic, he gave credence to a theory that lacked the same evidence as the IK theory. Hypocrite much?

As far as the host goes, I think he's a great human being. He brings attention to a LOT OF missing people cases and he does his best to keep rumors, innuendo and "conspiracy theories" out of the stories. He also seems to be making zero dollars and cents (no commercials and no peddling) off the podcast or anything to do with it. Doesn't label it as True Crime, nor does he do any of the true crime con junk. He's pretty transparent about his methods and usually takes the higher ground, or at least his version of it.However, the higher ground can be tricky depending on one's viewpoint, and I find that 70% of the time his commentary on each missing person case and their unique situation is cringey to the point of sounding like satire (seems like he bookends the show with some sort of silly personal philosophy and then summarizes with what, to me, usually sounds either judgmental or preachy towards whomever he thinks might be to blame for the vanishing). Even near the beginning of each show when he's building up to the name of the episode....um, no. It's SO. CAMPY. So, why have I been a loyal listener for 4 out of the show's 5 years? The interviews with the friends and family members are on point almost every time. If there is 2 hours worth of information, the show will be 2 hours and 15 minutes. That's awesome...time sort of is no issue. He doesn't let the guests evade questions or topics for the most part, but he's gentle about it. He's very empathetic but also NO-BS - and that kind of integrity is imperative in a missing persons podcast. Overall, he's well-meaning and the amount of inside information he is getting and the insights he provides is extremely valuable. My first and favorite podcast is the Vanished, but after listening to every episode of that 2x, I found this podcast which is pleasingly comparable and I'm so glad I did.I think if he cleaned up the intro (summary, news, future plans, etc) and outro, I would definitely add that 5th star. Honestly, I think he should let a lighter voice (preferably a female voice) do the intro and outro - maybe even edit it a little (ahem, I know an awesome editor) - and then make Ed the hard-hitting host in between for the interview and insight.
