If you’ve been delving into the field of women’s health occupational therapy in recent years then the name Melissa LaPointe is likely to be a familiar one. In recent years Melissa has been one of the most visible WHOT practitioners around the globe, and is one of the primary drivers of the current movement to connect and amplify the communities of Women’s Health Occupational Therapists worldwide. In the past year Melissa has transformed her role in this industry, closing down her bricks and mortar practice and committing to her role as a mentor, consultant and trainer for other women’s health therapists. She considers it her mission to create a safe and supportive space for personal development, empowering other therapists to grow their business through strategic alliances, community and and connection.Melissa is also the very first fellow WHOT with whom I connected personally, so she holds a special place in my heart. It’s always a joy to chat to Melissa about the field of WHOT, but in this interview we delve a little deeper into Melissa’s experience of moving from being a practicing OT to her current role as an online entrepreneur, a women’s health advocate, a coach, a leadership consultant and a community builder. We also chat about her own health and the challenges she has overcome in her professional career. You can find out more about Melissa and the range of services she provides at
