Measles is a fast-spreading and highly infectious disease and it has been giving the European Region plenty of trouble in 2011, particularly in the western part of the Region. Measles cases have been reported in more than 20 countries since the beginning of the year. France alone reported more than 3700 cases of measles just in January and February. The European Immunization Week is an ideal way to focus countries in the Region on forging the path towards eliminating measles by 2015.
