On the forehead of the great harlot is a name caused to being written, "mystery, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH."
Her name speaks of her character, but it is a mystery, with layers of meaning, being rooted in the tale of ancient Babylon where the worship of men and the gods of the heavens was first introduced. It established a precedent where men became the bridge makers, the connection, or gate, between heaven and earth. Ba-bel, the tower to heaven built in the region of Babylon, means the “gate of God.”
This system, introduced by the Harlot, is still followed today where many ministers, priests and other religious leaders believe they are that bridge, and man must come through them to gain access to the heavenlies.
In contrast, Jesus claimed that He is the bridge, the gate, the ladder connecting heaven and earth, and the angels travel to and fro because of Him.
