In today’s episode it’s a massive privilege for me to be chatting with Lee Thompson. Lee’s a colleague of mine at the North East Ambulance Service and really is one of life’s good guys.

He’s an ironman competitor of many years and long-time triathlete who is currently training in the cold waters of the North Sea for his first open water swim without a wetsuit! 

A major trauma paramedic and a PHD student!!! Honestly, I’m amazed at his drive and determination. 

We’ve had many discussions over the years about his training, his competition and the different challenges he sets himself. His dedication to his sport is phenomenal given the effort it takes to train and prepare for the types of endurance events he competes in.

We got talking again a couple of weeks ago at work and I think we both quickly realised that we could have sat there talking for hours if we hadn’t had proper work to do. At that point it seemed natural that Lee would be an awesome guest to get started with so I took the plunge, asked him if he fancied it and so I was buzzing when he agreed to take part.
