In this episode, Eddie talks to PDX Comrade Collective(@RdPirateRoberts)/PDX Disabled Comrade Collective(@PDXAccesible), a Portland-based group of disabled and neurodivergent activists who have been down in the thick of the clashes with police. We discuss what a people should know about protesting in the current climate, how that differs(or doesn't) from what disabled folks should know, and what we can do from home if we're not able to get out and protest in person. Plus, why does Ted Wheeler suck so much?

We've got a bonus episode coming this weekend. Be sure to follow us on your preferred platform and subscribe on YouTube for more bonus content.

Wellness Heck

Anything that benefits disabled or neurodivergent people, benefits everyone. We are disabled and/or neurodivergent working class people who have paid attention to the system we live in, and how it disregards & devalues us because we don't fit its standard of a valuable human being. We advocate for our rights. We talk about our specific concerns & challenges. We connect with other people with similar, or sometimes very different experiences. Every week we dive into the cultural, socioeconomic, and political norms of said system, that harm or diminish disabled and neurodivergent folks, and we stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter, our LGBTQ+ brothers, sisters, and enbys, victims of violence in any form, and every other incredibly strong, truly amazing person who suffers needlessly under an irredeemable hierarchy. Each week sees a new guest perspective joining the co-hosts, with insightful, often hilarious takes on the state of the human condition.Questions we've tackled so far:Do fascists just need a little talk therapy? How can disabled comrades do direct action like everyone else? What is the social model of disability, and how is it better than the medical model? Should disabled people be sex workers? What's the deal with how random and greedy the SSA can be? Is it OK to call a mentally-ill person an a**hole?Hosted by Matt(Intellectual Dark Wave) Eddie(Actual Context)Emileigh(with a G)Ajay Kaakarni(creator of indie comic HORSERER) We will make mistakes. We will say dumb things in our conversations, maybe even accidentally offensive things. But we are accountable to our mistakes and welcome all criticism by medical professionals and other disabled or neurodivergent people.
