Pennhurst Asylum was an institution that was built in 1903 and remained open almost 80 years before closing its door in 1987. The hospital was built to house 1167 feeble-minded and Epileptic individuals at the time. As years went on, overcrowding, reduced financing and low employee moral caused the one time award winning institution to fall to ruins in the late 1980's. In 1987, the U.S. Supreme Court forced its doors closed and it remained unoccupied for decades before being re-opened as a historical location with the preservation of its buildings and property. This Asylum is notorious for extreme paranormal activity. Our group has uncovered a number of E.V.P.'s from three of the buildings open to the public (Administration, Mayflower and Devon).
