In addition to using her gifts, talents, skills, and abilities in creating the OneDegreeofConnections Groups on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter, Carolyn A. Simms serves as the Senior Advisor on the Policy Engagement team within the Local Public Affairs department at Southern California Edison (SCE). 

In this role, Carolyn is responsible for leading both internal and external engagements with SCE’s community partners. She represents the SCE’s Policy Engagement team in the development and delivery of strategies and tactics on major company policy issues and strategies with a focus on leading external engagement strategies for environmentally impacted and low-income communities. She also manages relationships with participants of the Clean Energy Access Working Group. 

She is a passionate advocate for women empowerment and leadership earning a reputation as a master connector for having helped make connections for hundreds of women based on their professional interests. 

Carolyn Sims also serves on the board of directors for the Bloom Again Foundation which assists women with rapid response grants to help bridge the gap in their living expenses when they experience a medical situation. 

She serves on the committee of C-Sweet, a women’s networking group that fosters executive-level relationships among women for business development, collaboration, and expanded career paths.

Previously she served on two advisory committees in the entertainment industry: The Actors Fund: Looking Ahead . . . which is an innovative program tailored to help young performers and their families in Southern California and New York City; and . . . the Young Performer Division of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (also known as SAG-AFTRA). 

Carolyn believes in paying it forward . . . and gives back whenever she can. Her causes include supporting women battling cancer the homeless and housing insecure, as well as mentoring young women to achieve their full potential. 

At SCE, Carolyn previously served as the president of the company’s African American Employee Resource Group, Networkers . . . and the Women’s Roundtable. 

She is also a 2018 recipient of the J.K. Horton Humanitarian Award . . . which is a distinction given to employees of SCE . . . for exemplary acts of citizenship or service under emergency conditions. 

Carolyn A. Sims, earned a Master of Science in Human Resources and a Bachelor of Science in Human Relations and Business from Amberton University. 

And she is a mom to three adult daughters, Cashawn, Christol, and Carynn, and has been happily married to her husband Shawn for over 28 years.
