We’ve been forced to believe that after getting a degree from a university, we land on a perfect job that will suit as well.

Is attending a university all a myth? In this episode of Truth 4 The Youth Podcast, Gordon gets controversial and makes you think hard if the university is something that could suit you, help you grow as an individual, and prepare you for the future.

Lucky you if it all works out for you. But what Gordon observes is the amount of job available could not cater to the number of students that graduate each year. If this isn’t the case, then the unemployment figures won’t be as they are. Let’s take a step back and look at the numbers shown to us. Should we still be enrolling in universities? Tune in to find out today.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • There are thousands of students pursuing a degree in the university. But, by the time they graduate, there is no assurance that jobs will be a 1:1 ratio. The reality is less than a hundred positions, which are perfect for their knowledge and skill set, are only vacant.
  • Gordon thinks universities become a money-making place which burdens the young people who just want to learn, study, and get ready for their future.
  • Gordon also does not like the idea the ‘promise’ that comes with attending universities, after you graduate, you land the perfect job for you. That won’t always be the case.
  • Most graduates are deep into their debts. It becomes difficult for them to make ends meet. They get up to 3 jobs just to pay their student loans.
  • Gordon suggests that it’s better if, the required schooling, you experience what real life is – how to survive, how to make money, how to live alone, etc. After you’ve been immersed and settled on what you want to grow more from your skillset or your knowledge, then that’s the time you decide to go to a university.

BEST MOMENTS

  • “If it is great and it so useful to you, then why is it not free?”
  • “There aren’t enough jobs. So, the question is… Is it a worthwhile endeavour going there?”
  • “Awaken your own genius. Do not waste your time trying to search for something else.”
  • “If you’re going to the university, know what you wanna do, stick to it, and make sure, as much as you can, it is something that you want to do.”
