We are not a monolith. Black culture is multifaceted. While the dominant culture seeks to contain us inside of one box, how we move inside these bodies cannot be over-simplified. Even within our own families, there are infinite ways in which we experience life.

In this episode, we come to an intersection. Meet Nancy SantaCruz Monroe and hear her story. A native of Washington, D.C, Nancy is a black woman, born to Cuban parents. Listen as she shares some of the challenges she's experienced being Afro-Latina in the United States, and learn how she celebrates her identity and the cultures to which she's connected.
