Yo, today's QOD is what
0:02
we become depends on
0:05
what we read after all the
0:07
professors are finished with us. Here
0:10
we go. Welcome
0:14
back to
0:18
the QOD of the Day show. I'm
0:38
your host, Sean Croxton and Sean croxton.com. We
0:41
got all man Dino on this show
0:43
today. And today, Ogg is
0:46
going to encourage you to do
0:48
one of my most favorite things of all time, which
0:51
is to read more books. You
0:54
know, on my Instagram account, I've been
0:56
doing these monthly wrap ups. So I
0:58
just posted my February wrap
1:00
up and it was eight books read.
1:03
And I think the total pages came out to 18,146. And
1:09
I know some people will look at that and be like, I
1:11
can't do that. I don't have time for that. You don't have
1:13
to do that. You don't have
1:16
to read eight books a month. You can read two. You
1:18
can read one book. If you read one
1:20
book per month, you are way ahead of
1:23
the majority of the population, which is one book.
1:25
Most people don't read any books a
1:27
year. So just one book. And
1:31
you know, often here, I don't have the
1:33
time for that. I don't have time to read. Everybody
1:35
has time to read. I'm
1:37
sticking to my commitment of only
1:39
watching Golden State Warriors games this
1:41
year. And I
1:44
can read 25 pages during the game. Like,
1:48
I don't need to watch free throws. I
1:50
can read during free throws. That's about two minutes or so,
1:52
about a minute and a half, maybe with free throws. Right?
1:56
Then there's halftime and there's
1:58
commercials. End of the game. I'm
2:00
20, 25 pages deep. So
2:02
everybody has time. Doesn't matter what
2:05
you're watching, there's going to be commercials, there's
2:07
going to be intros and credits and stuff
2:09
like that. There's going to be opportunities just
2:11
to read a few paragraphs. Then you read
2:13
another few paragraphs. And then you're like, Oh
2:15
my gosh, look how deep I am into
2:17
this book. So you read 20 pages a
2:19
day, five days a week, that's
2:21
400 pages a month. That's one and a
2:23
half books or so. And
2:25
so I think everybody can find
2:28
time and the payoff for
2:31
such a minor investment
2:33
of time is huge.
2:36
And so I encourage you to read more
2:38
books. I know I talked about this a
2:42
few months ago, maybe like six months
2:44
ago, book club is coming back in
2:46
April, like for sure. And so
2:48
I hope you jump into our book club and you
2:50
read the books and you connect with other people who
2:52
listen to the podcast and you make friends and stuff.
2:55
You do the breakout groups and it's really, really fun.
2:57
I can't wait to get back into that. And so
3:00
without further ado,
3:02
Augmandino is coming up. The
3:07
most important secret of success
3:12
that I had to learn the hard way is
3:18
that life is a game.
3:21
It's precious. It's holy.
3:24
It's beautiful, but it's a game
3:28
and you can't play in that game
3:30
with any chance at all of winning
3:33
unless you know the rules. Slight
3:38
problem. While
3:40
we were growing up, nobody
3:44
ever taught us any of
3:46
the rules. Not
3:48
once, not in primary school, junior high school,
3:51
high school, college, graduate school, not once. Did
3:54
anybody even take 45 minutes to
3:56
teach us how to set goals, How
3:59
to motivate our students? Another. Other
4:01
handle adversity when it comes into allies and a
4:04
comes into all our lives. How
4:06
to use our time profitably. Either
4:08
get rid of the bad habits that we all pick up. Or
4:11
to accumulate wealth. How
4:13
to handle stress. And so
4:16
much more. And
4:18
so most of us. Will.
4:20
Become spectators. And
4:23
as great as game of all. Pushed
4:27
aside by the lucky few.
4:30
Who seem to know what they want? And
4:33
more important, Or seem to
4:35
know how to get. The.
4:38
Pros: The. Great performers.
4:43
They're all down on the field. Where.
4:46
All the action, all the
4:48
glory. And
4:50
all the money is. And
4:53
the rest of us. Were
4:55
up in the bleachers watching them. And
4:57
we had a pain to get him. So.
5:04
Let's take inventory right now. The
5:06
Sentinel. Edu

5:11
all those formative years of schooling, it you

5:19
now, he wanted to make a better. You

5:59
have a very different. and a
6:01
wonderful speaker who builds
6:03
himself as Charles' tremendous Jones.
6:07
You might have heard Charlie. He's fabulous. Charlie
6:10
is always telling his audiences, you
6:13
will be the same person in
6:15
five years as
6:19
you are this afternoon, except
6:23
for the people you meet and
6:26
the books you read. I
6:28
want to repeat that. It's not important.
6:31
You will be the same person in
6:33
five years as
6:37
you are this afternoon, except
6:41
for the people you meet and
6:43
the books you read. So
6:46
why not resort to maybe make a slight change
6:48
in your daily routine? The
6:51
next evening that you're free, instead of sitting in
6:53
front of that boob tube in home and just
6:55
feeling sorry for yourself, why not
6:57
get in your car and go down to the local library? Go
7:00
on in. Find that special
7:02
shelf, that gold mine that's in every
7:04
library, that shelf containing books
7:06
on success, how to achieve it, and
7:08
how to hold on to it after you get it. Walk
7:12
up and introduce yourself to some of the most
7:15
powerful and brilliant people who have ever lived, people
7:18
like Norman Vincent Hill, Napoleon
7:20
Hill, W. Clement Stone, Maxwell
7:22
Moss, Dorothy Abran. They're
7:25
waiting. They're
7:27
waiting right now as we talk. They're
7:30
waiting to help you, to show you the
7:32
way to teach you how to change your
7:34
life for the better. Slight
7:38
problem, of course. You
7:40
have got to get off your dust and go to them. Please
7:44
do it. And if you have people
7:47
under your supervision, suggest that they do it. It
7:49
will be one of the best moves you ever made in your
7:51
life. That
7:55
was Augmandino. His website
7:57
is augmandino.com. You can
7:59
watch. today's entire talk on
