RATING
This anthology is not an easy listen, but it´s well worth it. Eerie stories that feels almost too familiar for comfort, some tragic, some with happy endings, some unsettling, some outright horrifying. The writing and acting is phenomenal, the music and score is clever and sometimes not what you´d expect, but it works perfect. I´m especially impressed by the music choices in the three-part "White Algorithm´s burden", wich is also my favorite episodes. The creator behind it all must surely be one of the most talented storytellers out there
Waiting for each new episode after my binge of the first 18 is painful... Because this series still has me wondering about the future, the twists and exactly, what is the Program?
Such a beautiful and ingenious anthology. Like a hybrid of Limetown mixed with Black Mirror but with the emotional triggers of a fiction novel you can no longer remember that impacted your life philosophies nonetheless. The audio is so well done it feels the same as watching a movie with your eyes closed.I cannot recommend this audio series enough!
Stand alone stories that all take place in the same dystopia where political, financial, and spiritual hierarchies have all been fused into something called The Program. Excellent production values and a seemingly unending string of fascinating characters. If you labor under any illusions that the future is bright, The Program would like to have a word with you.
I can't say enough good things about The Program Audio Series! The premise of the show is hard to explain quickly but, basically, The Program is to podcasts and Black Mirror is to television - it's almost redefined a new genre for itself. The writing is really engaging and the production is impressive for such a small team. This is one of the few shows I support on patreon because I hope IMS never stops producing it - I'm consistently blown away by each new release. The Program is well worth your time!
The podcast equivalent of Black Mirror, The Program isn't lighthearted listening, but nothing worthwhile is ever easy, and this once again proves to be the case with 'The Program'. It's hard to sum up my thoughts about The Program, because it seems every new episode I'm left with a lake of introspection to paddle across. The sound design and writing are fantastic. Even if it doesn't sound immediately appealing to you, this is definitely a suitable podcast to serve as that gateway podcast into thought provoking sci-fi.
Brilliantly imagined, richly told
Modeled—in spirit and in scope—after the efforts of StoryCorps of the early 2000s, through which oral history interviews across the United States were recorded. To date, The Program has recorded more hindres interviews with thousands participants in all of the former 50 states, Washington, D.C., and several former American territories. While historians have critiqued The Program's methodology, specifically the "highly sculpted techniques of the interviews," such as the pre-scripted questions, the average 30- to 40-minute time limit, and the presence of staff members. The result of the technique is that interviews often elicit "an often-rehearsed moment, story, or memory."Historians are also critical of the post-interview editing process, which they argue favor highly emotional and predictable narrative arcs.Historians, it should be noted, are not especially useful. Perhaps they should try producing their own show instead of taking cheap potshots at hardworking post-apocalyptic Americans. Best Episode so far: Motherboard
Amazing stories told with depth of character. Thought provoking and yet very, very human.
