On this week’s episode I have come to one of the most well-known shops in town, The Fun Shop, owned by Betsy Davis, former Mayor and a Middleburger to the core, and her sister Page. Anyone who has every stepped inside the store will know how much fun it is to explore its nooks and crannies. Established by their mother Nancy in 1956, The Fun Shop sits next door to the Post Office and offers something for all the family. The children’s department is an adventure in itself, and the gift department is famous for its broad selection of offerings from equestrian themes... to a lampshade for everyone. Their mantra is ‘if The Fun Shop doesn’t have it, you don’t need it’. Betsy shares the history and philosophy of the family owned store, the pride in their staff, which currently has ten people employed. And you can hear too how Betsy is proud, not just of the shop but of the town and community of Middleburg.
