One of the hardest parts of being a coach for dads is feeling like I can show the good and the bad of my own life.  

It's been a hard year. 

But that is the reality for all of us - there are inevitably highs and lows. 

The truth is that 2023 has so far been incredibly tough. And that's ok. 

One of my favourite movie quotes is from Balboa, when Rocky is talking to his son. "Life ain't all sunshine and rainbows but it ain't about how hard you can hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep going." 

Challenges are inevitable. 

Sure, if you are the President or Elon Musk, then some of your challenges will be bigger, but they won’t likely be much different.

The idea that we are different or that no one else will understand is just a story - a trap - that we created for ourselves. Everyday challenges we will all face, no matter how successful we are. Our children going to secondary/high school, family illness, and relationship challenges. The same shit happens to all of us.

It is how you face it that matters. 

So how do we weather the storm? 

What do we need to do to keep moving forward? 

And how do we keep smiling through it all so we can be the man and dad we need to be to everyone around us?

You have to respect the reality of it. It’s not about creating the perfect life. It is about how you deal with the challenges as you face them.

The core principles of my POWER CODE method are right at the heart of how you make that happen:

Clarity about where you are headed.

Confidence and self-assured - believing in yourself and what you are capable of.

Being consistent with your routines, your health, your sleep, and your downtime.

It is being organised. Chaos just leads to more chaos. Momentum is where results come from.

Putting good people around you.

Making time to relax, laugh, and let it all fade into the background.
