Dr. Richard Savage has more than 20 years of experience in education. After teaching high school Spanish and coaching soccer and volleyball for five years, he became a vice principal at Antelope Valley High School, a socio-economically-challenged urban high school in Southern California with an under-served population of more than 2,500 students. He worked there for six years and succeeded in bringing the school out from state sanctions.
As school principal at Calistoga Junior/Senior High School, a rural school serving students in grades 7–12 located at the northern end of the Napa Valley, Dr. Savage coordinated a Distinguished School Award, a successful six-year accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, and school-wide project-based learning implementation.
He states, “The innovative world of online learning is at the forefront of the future of education. It affords the staff at California Online Public Schools the opportunity to engage students in many different ways. I believe that all children can learn, technology is an integral part of the educational process, and that the teacher-student relationship is an essential component of a child’s education. I enjoy implementing a wide variety of strategies to ensure student success.”
