I had the privilege of interviewing Tony Martin, Missionary to Sweden, during this episode of The Hope Podcast. During this episode, Tony shares that one of the challenges missionaries face while entering a new culture is loneliness.I asked Tony for some suggestions for how churches can do a better job of supporting missionaries. Here are some of his suggestions.Schedule a Skype call with missionaries once per quarter.Find out birthdays and anniversary dates for missionary family members.Remember your missionaries during American Holidays and send appropriate gifts to help them while they are away from home.Connect with your missionaries on a regular basis via phone calls or Skype.Send little surprises on a special occasion.Another issue that Tony shares that is common with missionaries is depression.
