Prior to this podcast, I didn’t even know about Walter Camp and how dangerous the sport football was. I listened to the episode on Walter Camp and it was fascinating! I enjoyed listening to this podcast. I like football and I wanted to know more about the history of the rule changes and this episode did just that. However, I felt like I was listening to a lecture and felt a bit bored at times, but it was an interesting topic for me, so I was very invested in the podcast. Without this podcast, I wouldn’t have even known Walter Camp as a very important person to the game of football. It was interesting to learn that football used to be very dangerous and had certain tactics that could have actually killed someone. It was also very interesting that Walter Camp had a clock company, I was surprised that he was so involved in Yale’s football program while owning a clock company. I also learned that football wasn’t even that popular and rugby was the more mainstream sport which really surprised me. One interesting thing was how Camp used to be a former halfback and makes me think if playing during a very violent era made him want some rule changes so that the game can be enjoyed more. I personally will be listening to this podcast again when I have some free time. Overall I really enjoyed this podcast and would suggest it to those who want to learn more about football.
