Parents have often come to me wanting me to teach their kid how to be organized, how to get good grades, or simply do what they need to do without breaking down or talking back. In other words - the executive functioning skills that demonstrate they are able to be the "boss" of their lives.
But wanting to jump into these higher level skills first is what I call "the big executive function misconception"
