Nearly 30 educators at New America School’s Lakewood campus demonstrated Wednesday calling for the board of their charter school network to recognize their union. As Colorado Sun education reporter Erica Breunlin reports, teachers at the campus are hoping to become the first of 266 charter schools in the state to unionize. It’s a big deal for schools that have traditionally been free of the influence of unions, part of their appeal for certain parents. Erica talks to reporter Thy Vo about the unionization effort.
