I’m excited to have Dave Checketts with us as I have been following him now for quite some time. He’s a husband, father of 6, a Christian and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he recently returned from a mission for the church where he served as the President of the England, London Mission for 3 years. He started his professional career pretty young doing really big things and at 28, he was the President and GM of the Jazz, which was the youngest chief executive in NBA history. He then went on to be the president of the New York Knicks, and then the presidency of Madison Square Garden, and then went on to found SBCGlobal, a consulting and investment services firm for sports teams, and then he has also served as CEO of Legends Hospitality Management and on a number of boards.

“I just said, ‘I’m happy to do this. This will be a challenge because the company’s a $4 billion entertainment company. I will do it, but I only have one request,’ and then after we settled on all the other terms of the contract, I said ‘I’m not gonna be here on Sunday. I’m just not gonna be here. It’s a family day, it’s really important for me, it’s a day to demonstrate my faith. I’m not gonna be here, and even if the Knicks are in game 7 of the world championship, the chances are I probably will not come.’” 9:46
