A horse cart rolled and crushed his legs at the age of 12 and some thought he’d never walk again but Ludwig recovered after much prayer and felt God calling him to missions. In 1862 he travelled to the Batak people living in the interior of Samatra, Indonesia. By the time of his death, there were 180,000 Batak believers.
