0:30

Harwood and with me is Jacob Litton.

0:49

So about when I first

0:52

became a Lions fan, it's hard to imagine

0:55

hard to picture when I wasn't a Lions fan

0:57

because I think pretty much when I started being

0:59

a football fan is when I started becoming more conscious

1:02

of what the Lions were doing. So

1:05

I started thinking about who was the quarterback

1:07

when I first really started paying attention and

1:10

that was actually Joey Harrington. But

1:14

those were tougher times to say that's when

1:16

I started really remembering and started paying attention

1:18

what was going on. But if you remember,

1:21

Joey Harrington was on the cover of the college

1:23

football game high draft pick, high

1:25

hopes. was all in and, was

1:27

crushed for a little while, but, I'm still here.

1:30

Things are looking up that's been 20

1:34

years ago. Who was the quarterback

1:36

when you first became a fan?

1:38

So I had the three headed monster,

1:40

and this is gonna be maybe a little bit before

1:42

your time is gonna show my age, but it was

1:45

Andre Ware, Eric Kramer,

1:47

and Rodney Peet. It was like, they drafted

1:49

Andre Ware in 1990. He

1:52

was a run and shoot quarterback. He had like

1:55

ungodly numbers at Houston. But

1:57

he never worked out. Rodney

2:00

Peet was like a fifth or sixth round

2:02

pick And Eric Kramer he was not

2:04

drafted at all, and he was like

2:06

a replacement player, I think, and started

2:09

in in the late 80s, so you

2:11

have a first round pick just getting beat out

2:13

by replacement players and

2:15

then after the, that 300 monster

2:18

moved into the Scott Mitchell era I

2:20

have mixed feelings about the Scott Mitchell era.

2:22

Cause he made some boneheaded

2:25

plays, but. He

2:27

did lead like an awesome offense.

2:29

I think it was 95. They had

2:31

a really good offense. Herman Moore, Brett Perriman

2:34

were just, leading the league in

2:36

receptions. They had Barry in the backfield,

2:38

which makes, for an exciting time. I

2:40

love the Lions and Being

2:42

a fan the last year and a half has

2:44

been a great

2:47

joy It's been to say the least

2:49

it's been amazing. I'm excited to see

2:52

oh, and I can't even imagine from the people

2:54

that were Fans from the 60s and

2:56

70s, I I didn't start

2:59

becoming a fan until the 90s. I can't imagine

3:01

last year for the, those people that were

3:03

fans for even longer, because for me

3:06

it was amazing. So

3:08

I can't imagine what it would felt like for them.

3:10

That's why you saw the people crying at, Ford

3:13

Field and stuff like that. It was, emotional.

3:16

You weren't

3:16

I did cry and I hugged the stranger

3:18

next to me when we beat the Rams, that was

3:20

just an emotional release for everybody

3:23

at that stadium. That game will

3:25

be something that's I will, Remember for the rest of

3:27

my life I think I told you about

3:29

this earlier, I took my son

3:31

and he looked at me after, at that game,

3:34

after, and he's this is something I'm going to remember for

3:36

the rest of my life, and that's mostly

3:38

what triggered my tears,

3:40

No, it's a good moment. And that was the truth.

3:42

it was and, you think about, 10, 15,

3:44

20, 30 years, he's

3:46

going to mention that and I feel like so blessed

3:49

that we were there and got to experience

3:51

him so blessed that the Lions played well

3:53

and just, it was just awesome

3:56

for me and I'm just one

3:58

person in the stadium, there's a lot of stories

4:00

like that in the stadium and people

4:02

that didn't go to the stadium, they were at home watching

4:04

with their family. Yeah, was,

4:07

around everywhere in Michigan and Detroit.

4:08

Yeah

4:10

It was a

4:10

love

4:10

Finally, a good time to be a Lions fan,

4:13

it was, it didn't make all

4:15

the losing like worth it

4:17

per se, but all that built

4:19

up and made that moment amazing.

4:21

That's what I.

4:24

I can say about that, it will never

4:27

make it so that the losing was worth it,

4:29

but it certainly made it all

4:31

the more enjoyable at that point.

4:33

right? You forget a little bit, just

4:35

when it got really good there. For

4:38

it did.

4:38

it's been, it got really good right there.

4:40

It was, unforgettable. I was

4:43

blessed to be there for that playoff

4:45

game, that's for sure. Since this is

4:47

our first episode, what

4:50

are you hoping the listeners get out of this? What are

4:52

you doing the podcast for what's

4:54

your thoughts on that?

4:56

We work together. As listeners

4:58

are gonna find out, we work together. A lot of this

5:00

is just talk that goes on at work. I've

5:02

worked with mostly women for 10

5:04

years before you came along. Finally

5:06

get to talk sports all day. We're driving

5:08

them crazy let's make a podcast. We're gonna

5:10

talk about sports, we're gonna share our knowledge,

5:12

have fun doing it. What about you? What was the driving

5:15

force behind trying to make the podcast?

5:16

Mostly to make you look like a fool

5:19

Pretty high for yourself,

5:20

I know.

5:21

attainable goals.

5:22

out of my ass every once in a while.

5:23

than me. You'll learn that really soon,

5:26

too.

5:26

my old

5:27

fan when I was learning how to use glue

5:29

sticks in kindergarten.

5:32

I'm gonna let you get one in on me

5:34

every once in a while, but that's okay. I have a lot

5:36

more experience than you, and I know stuff

5:38

than you. For the podcast, just like

5:40

you said, we're driving people at work, crazy

5:42

talking about the lions, but. I think

5:44

that you and I have a

5:47

lot of insights that are

5:49

fun to share. I just thought, let's.

5:51

Just try this for fun and see where this goes

5:54

and see if anybody else enjoys listening

5:56

to you sound like an idiot, but if anybody

5:59

else listens or thinks like we do or,

6:01

just to create a community, that's

6:03

what this lion's nation is about to

6:05

me. Just. Us going through it

6:07

together. I think just Detroit in general

6:10

with their sports, just,

6:12

it's something that unites us all and

6:14

the world needs something like that right now. It's

6:17

fun that we can all get behind something and

6:20

so positive right now that Dan Campbell,

6:22

Brad Holmes, Jared Goff,

6:25

all the other players have just helped

6:27

build something that we can be proud of.

6:29

That's, fun to be able to talk about

6:31

that stuff. It's fun to joke around with you.

6:34

As much as I want to say you sound like an idiot,

6:36

you're a very smart person. And

6:38

yeah,

6:39

Compliment. You all

6:40

And, recording. But.

6:42

on me, but work most of

6:44

the time for him.

6:45

You know what? It's all good,

6:47

Jacob, because I'm the one that holds the edit button to

6:49

this podcast. You haven't figured out how to edit yet,

6:51

so I can do whatever I want with this AI

6:53

voice cloning

6:55

we'll see.

6:56

So let's go back to our Alliance fandom. Thought

6:58

it'd be fun to share our all time favorite

7:00

Lions player. For the purpose of

7:02

this, we're going to exclude Barry Sanders just

7:05

because it might be

7:07

a little bit boring if we both just said Barry Sanders,

7:09

cause he's probably, 90 percent

7:13

of Lions fans, at least in my age

7:15

group, that would say it would be Barry Sanders.

7:17

I

7:17

is

7:18

Lions fans, though, even new Lions

7:20

fans, you like the Lions, you look up the Lions,

7:22

you see the history of the Lions. Barry Sanders

7:25

is front and center. Even though his

7:27

highlights were back in the 90s and everything,

7:29

you're watching, kids now, watching those

7:31

highlights, seeing how great that he was. He's

7:34

at the top of everybody's list when you talk about all time

7:36

Lions.

7:37

Yeah. And he's still very involved with the team. He took

7:39

a period off after he left the team,

7:41

and retired early but, he's at every event

7:43

he's at the stadium, pretty much every game I

7:45

see them, they bring them out. The crowd still goes

7:47

crazy, still chants Berry. He

7:50

deserves all that. I can't explain

7:53

to you how it was to watch every

7:55

game with Barry because you knew he was going to do

7:57

something amazing. You see

7:59

the clips on YouTube. You, I know you've seen all

8:01

the highlights. I know you've looked this up. I know

8:03

you're knowledgeable about this, but just, when

8:06

you're watching a live game and

8:08

you just know. He's going to get

8:10

one yard here. He's going to get negative two here.

8:12

He's going to get negative three. Then all of a sudden he

8:14

busts out a 40 yard or a 50 yarder

8:17

and he made three people look stupid

8:19

why he, ran it. It was really

8:22

fun to watch the lions

8:25

at that point. It's a different fun now because we're

8:27

winning and we got players like Jameer Gibbs that

8:29

can do amazing things. But

8:31

Barry was just. He was

8:34

an unreal cat. He just did things that no one

8:36

else can do and you know You

8:38

could watch a game and you just know oh

8:40

my god. He's he just

8:42

did what you couldn't believe it have you ever

8:44

seen like a game that he played in like from

8:46

start to finish or anything like that

8:48

Nope. You can tell when you watch the highlights.

8:51

It's just he's in a league of his own out there.

8:53

Just don't look like they have a chance. He just looks faster,

8:55

quicker. His instincts just look better than

8:57

everybody else that's on the field.

8:59

vision.

9:00

where it's changed. Is that now,

9:02

you got eleven defenders out there that are

9:04

all at the top of their game. Different

9:07

breed of athletes nowadays, but Barry

9:09

looks, like he could've hung.

9:10

So who is your all time favorite

9:12

lion besides Barry?

9:14

This is probably, I don't think we're gonna have the same all

9:16

time favorite line either because

9:18

you're ancient and you know mine's gonna be

9:20

kind of Jason's favorite lines, Doke

9:23

Walker.

9:24

Doug Walker. Oh man, I'm not quite that

9:26

old, but I know who that is.

9:28

Doke Walker, Bobby Lane. I

9:30

Yeah,

9:30

with JJ earlier. I was talking about all time lions. People

9:32

I never heard of, or Doakwalker has an award

9:35

named after him.

9:36

it does. The Lions have had

9:38

their fair share of running backs.

9:40

Because even before

9:41

you. That's new information from

9:43

yes. There was Barry Sanders and,

9:46

Billy Sims. You probably never saw a Billy

9:48

Sims run either, I'm sure. an

9:50

amazing running back He was

9:52

in the early 80s. He was actually war number

9:54

20. He was war 20 before Barry

9:56

and he made some amazing runs,

9:58

but he blew his knee out. And, yeah,

10:01

his career ended after three years, or two

10:03

or three years he had some amazing runs, I,

10:05

you could look him up, he was a little more

10:07

meaner runner than Barry, but he was really

10:10

fast, and he was a good running back, too.

10:12

Nice.

10:13

who is

10:14

favorite lion I'm going with Calvin Johnson.

10:17

alright,

10:19

That was, I guess at the height of when

10:21

I was a Lions fan. I think we drafted him

10:23

when I was, I was still in high school. I might've

10:25

been middle school when we drafted Calvin Johnson.

10:27

So that was a big deal. All the hype,

10:30

he lived up to the hype instantly, right

10:32

away. I actually got to go to Lions

10:34

games. The first couple of games I went to, he

10:36

was there, he was the star. You talk

10:38

about all time great receiver, which is good for

10:40

the Lions, too. We've got Barry Sanders. You

10:43

talk about all time great running backs, and

10:45

then you talk about all time great receivers. Now, we've got

10:47

Calvin Johnson. It's a shame his

10:49

career didn't last very long, which is similar

10:51

to Barry as well. But he

10:53

holds the all time, receiving yard

10:55

record. Yards in a season. He caught

10:57

that ball against the Bears, despite what the referees

10:59

say. And just moments

11:03

of him just, Kind of what I said before. He looked like

11:05

he was better than everyone else on the field. You throw

11:07

the ball up to Megatron, he's got three defenders

11:09

on him. Still comes down with it.

11:11

I remember a graphic from the Monday night football

11:13

game against the bears

11:15

where they showed Calvin Johnson's catch

11:18

radius. And it was essentially like a

11:20

two car garage, it was an

11:22

amazing graphic, He was just

11:24

on a level all on his own. He had

11:27

amazing speed, he could jump. He

11:29

was just bigger than

11:31

anybody else. have a tough,

11:34

Crazy.

11:35

going to have a tough time jamming him at the line just

11:37

because, he's bigger than

11:39

you. The only one that I could

11:42

say that's as athletic or just that

11:44

kind of reminds me just a body kind of thing

11:46

as a DK Metcalf. Megatron's catch

11:48

radius is way better and DK

11:51

Metcalf's is Anywhere close to the

11:53

receiver that Calvin Johnson was but

11:55

as far as you know he had that build

11:57

and just like the speed and stuff like

11:59

that, you know Calvin Johnson was just unreal.

12:02

DK 6'4,

12:03

Yeah, are they about the same height? Calvin was

12:05

taller than,

12:07

Calvin 6'5, 237.

12:09

yep,

12:09

that's really

12:11

same,

12:11

that Calvin was faster than DK.

12:13

yeah,

12:14

a 4. 35. I don't know what DK ran, but

12:16

I know he's faster than DK Metcalf. Ability.

12:19

guy that can also, run away from you down the

12:21

field. There aren't 50

12:24

50 balls. It's 80 20.

12:26

Stafford learned that early on. If

12:28

I'm in trouble, just throw it up, them,

12:30

Give my guy a chance. That can get you in trouble,

12:33

and it certainly did sometimes, but

12:35

more often than not, Calvin's coming down

12:37

with that ball, and yeah, he

12:39

was an amazing player, and it's a shame that,

12:42

we couldn't go anywhere with him as

12:44

far as playoffs it's a shame he had to leave early,

12:46

but, just like Barry, they might have not

12:49

left on the greatest terms, but they're both

12:52

fully back. They're really involved with the franchise

12:54

so it's great to see them back. It's

12:56

another thing that this current regime has done. They've

12:59

gotten these players back and I

13:01

don't think it's just a winning. I think

13:03

it's a respect thing. I think

13:05

it's, treating people like people

13:08

and doing the right thing.

13:10

Right. Shouts

13:11

love it.

13:11

man.

13:12

That's going to lead into my all time

13:14

favorite Lions player. Cause I think, honestly,

13:16

he, with Sheila kicked this

13:19

off and mine's Chris Spielman. So linebacker

13:21

for the Lions, he's in 88.

13:24

So mine isn't just necessarily based

13:26

on his play with the Lions. Although

13:28

I believe he's the all time leader in tackles

13:31

with the Lions. He made four pro bowl

13:33

appearances with the Lions. He was an amazing

13:35

linebacker. I hate to say that he went

13:37

to Ohio state, everyone's got their faults.

13:39

He was just an amazing hard nosed player.

13:42

You talk about Grit he fit it

13:44

before that was the tagline of the Lions. Then

13:46

after that he went on and did some

13:48

broadcasting. And so he was. One

13:50

of the lead broadcasters for Fox Sports

13:52

for a little bit. Love listening to

13:54

him. I thought he was very knowledgeable.

13:57

And then he left

13:59

and now he's, part of the lions

14:02

leadership team, and he's a special

14:04

assistant. It was a first hire that Sheila

14:07

made. After. The Matt Patricia

14:09

and Bob Quinn firing, they got

14:12

Chris in here. I think Chris was

14:14

the reason why they ended up going with Dan Campbell

14:16

and Brad Holmes. I think all that,

14:18

coupled with this amazing play I just appreciate

14:21

the guy so much and I'm so glad that he's

14:24

back with the Lions. Doing his thing and

14:26

he's helping us out. He was on those linebackers

14:28

had those huge shoulder pads in the nineties.

14:31

it's just a funny image for me. Compared

14:33

to the players now, just how intimidating.

14:36

A different game.

14:37

yeah. Can you imagine enough of player will come

14:39

with those? Pads on now, just

14:41

like how different he would look, how weird

14:44

he would look out there compared to everybody else.

14:46

You don't have too much experience with Chris. I'm sure you know

14:48

who he is, as far as his playing, a

14:50

gritty player and I loved him.

14:52

I know who he is just because of the executive

14:55

things he's been doing. He actually, he

14:57

came and talked to my, I believe it was elementary

14:59

school.

15:00

Oh, really?

15:00

school and actually talked after he retired. Like

15:04

a, a picture to take home too. It was

15:06

Oh, that's cool. Do you remember what the, was the

15:09

talk about anything specific or what was

15:11

Just, okay.

15:13

was probably five years old. Remember?

15:15

I could see a theme now. I'm, I'm not

15:17

that old. Okay.

15:19

Ah, well,

15:20

something that's you know

15:21

saw him play. So

15:22

it's okay

15:23

I mean, solid.

15:24

It's a great pick. I said you couldn't pick Barry. So,

15:26

of course, you pick Kelvin. Let's quickly move on Instead

15:28

of all time favorite Lions player, how About we do

15:30

the current Lions favorite player?

15:33

you,

15:33

fun of me for picking a popular person? Is that how

15:35

this is going to go?

15:37

Yeah, yes, I want you to pick

15:39

Dan Skipper, and if you don't pick Dan Skipper,

15:42

there's something wrong with you. Go ahead.

15:44

I think you already know who I'm gonna say, but I have to

15:46

say it. I went back and forth on this, but I've

15:48

gotta go hutch.

15:49

Okay.

15:50

The Michigan connection before that, and

15:53

just, the timing of when

15:55

he came and when things turned around.

15:57

Yeah.

15:57

they had Dan Campbell's first year, as

15:59

he took over the team. Didn't go

16:01

so well, which was expected, we trying

16:04

to change things around,

16:06

switch things up. You need some sort of spark,

16:08

some sort of energy on the defense,

16:10

someone to define the team and the Jaguars make

16:12

a mistake and pass them

16:14

up and then Hudson falls right in our

16:16

lap. Perfect example

16:19

of grit, perfect person to be on the

16:22

Lions That's when things turned

16:24

around. I think we went three and

16:26

13. We get the second

16:28

pick, we draft Hutch, and then, then we're one

16:30

game out of the playoffs. Which

16:33

obviously is more than just him, I connect

16:35

him with as things were turning around. He's

16:37

on the squad, fired up,

16:39

we're ready to go, we take out Aaron Rodgers

16:41

and Green Bay to finish off the season.

16:44

Then you go into last year, his second year in the league,

16:46

he's getting double digit sacks. He's had

16:48

multiple picks, multiple forced fumbles. Just

16:51

a huge player on the defense. And it's only been

16:53

a year or two It's only going

16:55

up from here.

16:57

Hutch is an awesome pick. I'm not gonna make fun

16:59

of you for that. Hutch is everything

17:01

you want a player to be. He works hard.

17:04

he's from the area. He

17:06

above most of these players

17:08

because, other than DBJ, most

17:11

of these players are not from Detroit. They

17:13

may understand that we're,

17:16

where this team came from and

17:18

they might have some idea, but Hutch

17:20

lived it. He was a Lions fan growing

17:23

up. He knows what this means

17:25

to everybody in Michigan, what this means

17:27

to people in Detroit. He embodies

17:29

everything you want in a player. He's going to get paid

17:31

next year. He's going to deserve every bit of

17:33

it. And going to be awesome

17:35

because there's no way they're letting him out of the

17:38

building. Um, just not going

17:40

to happen. Speaking of not letting someone

17:42

out of the building my current favorite players,

17:45

someone that just signed the extension is going to be with

17:47

us for a while, that's Penesul much

17:49

like you're saying, bring in And

17:53

the, you picture that with the turnaround,

17:56

Penne is

17:59

the first Lions draft pick Brad

18:01

Holmes,

18:02

yeah, he was The

18:04

many teams can, you say your favorite

18:06

current player is an offensive

18:08

lineman. Penesul is not just

18:10

any offensive lineman. He's probably

18:13

the best tackle in the league or, top

18:15

two or three, but he, all pro

18:18

this year, first team all pro,

18:20

he, Is everything you want in a player, he

18:22

works hard, he's amazing

18:24

at the way he does, not only, is

18:26

he just a mauler he's athletic,

18:29

he can get out, he could pull, he

18:31

can, get the second level, yeah,

18:34

and he can catch, I was at game, yeah.

18:37

and I think Dan Campbell said that, he

18:40

could have played tight end and I 100 percent

18:42

believe that he's just an athletic guy

18:44

beyond. Just his

18:46

raw athletic ability and the way he plays.

18:49

His pregame speeches are amazing. I

18:52

love just everything he

18:54

stands for. he. Is

18:56

just a team guy too, you don't hear

18:58

me or you don't hear I hear, you

19:00

know He's part of that offensive line. He

19:03

speaks grit too. It was hard to pick a

19:05

current favorite player Because

19:08

there are so many guys just like the two

19:10

that we just subscribed, how could I'm in raw?

19:12

Not make our list.

19:15

He's definitely an

19:17

amazing player. He works harder

19:19

than anybody and

19:22

he just does his job and just

19:25

late pick. The Top picks. They

19:27

came out. They are what they're supposed to be. A

19:29

mid round pick. A lot

19:30

yeah,

19:31

him out. And he just proved everybody wrong.

19:34

One of the top receivers in the league. also

19:36

paid, rightfully so.

19:38

the timing of the pay is awesome, too,

19:40

because there's other people about to get paid,

19:43

and I think Brad Holmes, looked

19:45

into that and said, let's get our guy taken care

19:47

of. Let's give him his contract and then, lock

19:49

him down and, keep him happy. So

19:52

I'm happy that he's on a team, but there's, there's

19:54

a lot of other guys Alim McNeil's an awesome

19:57

player me, third round draft pick.

19:59

It came after Levi and I'm glad

20:01

we doubled up on that position. And that's why you

20:03

double up on a position. Cause not

20:05

everybody's going to work out, but a Liam certainly

20:08

worked out greatly for a third round

20:10

pick. And we haven't even talked about our quarterback

20:12

at Jared Goff. I think he represents

20:14

Detroit very well. After a shaky

20:19

For Gough and for the

20:20

How many guys do you think,

20:22

get paid? Top dollar,

20:25

like he did with the Rams. Basically

20:28

is discarded. He's counted

20:30

out by pretty much, oh,

20:32

he's definitely by the Rams and by most

20:35

people in the league, he's counted out. And now,

20:37

he's the number two paid quarterback

20:39

in the NFL right now, based on average

20:42

per year or whatever you can have Patrick

20:44

Mahomes. That's going to be on the, near the top.

20:46

You're going to have, Joe Burroughs you

20:48

know, No one's ever counted them out. Whereas

20:51

Jared Goff was just left for dead, essentially.

20:53

He was kind of a, you know, we'll throw in Goff

20:56

in the Stafford trade. yeah,

20:58

prize. Goff was just kind of the afterthought.

21:00

He was gonna be the layover until

21:03

we drafted our quarterback or got our guy.

21:05

but I think that was the thought and that's the media

21:07

talking point at that point. But I honestly,

21:10

I think Brad Holmes just knew that

21:12

they were going to take them, they took on, what

21:15

was a bad contract for the Rams, or

21:17

at least what the Rams saw was a bad contract.

21:19

From all accounts of how it went down, we got

21:21

an extra first round pick out

21:23

of that, which turned into Jamir Gibbs

21:25

and San Laporta 'cause of the trade. Safford

21:28

got them to Super Bowl, so you can't say the Rams

21:30

lost that trade,

21:31

It worked both ways.

21:33

Lions.

21:34

trade ended up working in the favor of

21:36

both teams.

21:37

I think if Stafford doesn't get that

21:39

Superbowl, they don't get that Superbowl,

21:41

then it's a

21:42

Oh, no,

21:43

the

21:43

Yeah,

21:44

then they lose I mean that's what they did

21:46

they sold to get that championship,

21:49

though.

21:49

yeah, oh yeah, and as a Lions fan,

21:51

I could totally understand that but I think Brad

21:54

Holmes is on a different track, I think he's looking for

21:56

long term success, and he took advantage

21:58

of, what they thought of Jared

22:01

Goff, and we're reaping the benefits now,

22:03

Stafford could still sling it, no doubt,

22:05

but I'd much rather have Jared

22:08

Goff right now than Stafford. Just,

22:10

some of it's age, some of it's just wear on the

22:12

body Jared Goff's not perfect,

22:14

but Stafford just sometimes

22:17

tried to take on too much, and maybe that was just his time

22:19

with the Lions just because that's what he felt

22:21

he had to do,

22:22

Yeah.

22:23

what

22:24

out of nothing.

22:25

yeah, Jared Goff knows what

22:28

he is, he knows how to

22:30

get the best out of his players,

22:33

and he does it you know

22:36

He's

22:37

yeah, no exactly,

22:39

about Frank Ragnow? That was somebody else that

22:41

I was talking about too, and Frank got to see some

22:43

bad times before things turned around.

22:46

know both him and Taylor both saw some bad

22:48

times. They, had to

22:50

go through it. And, that's why the emotion

22:52

wears on both their face. But when you talk about

22:55

Frank, guy that just,

22:57

run through a wall for you, and he

22:59

doesn't want to let his teammates down. That's

23:02

the bottom line with Frank. He's

23:04

got from all accounts a nasty toe

23:06

injury. You wouldn't know by

23:08

his play. Especially those blocks on beat Avea

23:10

down and you know in that Buccaneers game. I

23:13

still remember that just he just

23:15

clearing the way

23:16

and then still made the Pro Bowl. then

23:19

All Pro the next season when it was still

23:21

lingering. That's grit

23:24

that's what I'm talking about The Lions

23:26

moved on from people that didn't personify

23:28

Grit. They've held on

23:31

to players or re signed

23:33

or in the case of Jalen Reeves

23:35

Maven or Graham Glasgow, they've reacquired

23:37

former Lions players that, fit

23:40

that criteria. I could see

23:42

it As a philosophy, they are

23:44

very talented players. They might not

23:46

be the most talented at their position,

23:49

but they're going to fight through injury. They're

23:51

going to play their butt off for their

23:53

teammates. And, they're

23:55

going to do what it takes to win and

23:57

they're going to put the time in. They're going to practice.

23:59

They're going to do their thing. And I think

24:02

when you have a team philosophy

24:04

like that, and you have a team full of those players,

24:08

could go a long way. And I think

24:10

we've seen it.

24:11

We showed that last year. hoping that

24:13

it goes a little bit further this year.

24:15

Yeah, at least one more game, right? That'd be

24:17

awesome. Speaking of that,

24:19

what's your thoughts on this upcoming

24:22

season?

24:22

The over under is at ten and a half, so

24:24

Okay.

24:25

right now, not as a fan, but if you were just

24:27

gonna be placing that bet as a bettor, would

24:29

you say you think the Lions are above or below ten

24:31

and a half?

24:32

I think they're definitely above, they're built to win

24:35

a lot of different ways. When you want to

24:37

play the matchup game or whatever like that, the Lions

24:39

are set for that. I also think

24:41

that they've taken, the proper steps

24:43

to shore up that secondary that was

24:45

just giving up yardage left and right, especially

24:47

towards the end of the year. Happy to

24:49

problem areas, was just having consistent

24:52

secondary play, and we addressed that,

24:54

so

24:55

yeah one of our starters last year is going to be fifth

24:58

or sixth cornerback this year. If that tells

25:00

you what we've done to upgrade,

25:03

that room and just

25:05

like the first year Brad Holmes doubled

25:07

down on cornerback for the first two picks.

25:09

I don't think that was necessarily planned going

25:12

in. It just fell in his hands that way. I think

25:14

he was pretty ecstatic with those picks

25:16

You just know they're draft board as people, like

25:18

we just talked about. People that are good

25:20

teammates, that are gonna put it all in the line

25:22

for the team, not selfish players,

25:24

And, we got some good guys. Again, they're

25:26

killing the draft. Every year. I

25:29

that's,

25:30

exactly how good we did with this one,

25:32

for

25:32

yep.

25:32

as high of picks or as many picks to work with,

25:34

I still feel great about it.

25:36

Just grabbing Terry on Arnold in the first

25:38

round. Unbelievable.

25:40

Yeah. Could not

25:40

Yeah.

25:41

that.

25:42

No, we were. Texting back and forth and,

25:44

you and I that night and, the trade up and

25:47

Which one

25:47

I,

25:48

we wanted Tarion? I

25:49

You did no

25:52

I like, I liked Cooper Dejean, but

25:54

I was,

25:55

that's right. Didn't he go in the second, mid

25:57

He did and he went to the Eagles

26:00

with another good drafting team, so I know he's going

26:02

to end up being

26:03

Oh,

26:04

hey, it will tell, I

26:06

am very

26:08

I

26:09

happy with Terry Arnor

26:09

all about it, and

26:11

you know just Terran Arnold said about his

26:13

mother, if we line up against you together, against

26:16

you, I'm gonna push you into the dirt, and you know this.

26:18

No.

26:19

But,

26:20

wear both of your knee braces.

26:21

Both my knee braces, I got my back brace,

26:24

I, I wear my earmuffs a

26:26

little chilly outside too.

26:28

Get on tight. I'm surprised you could stay

26:30

up to watch the whole draft, you didn't fall asleep?

26:33

No, I, my, my mom let me stay

26:35

up. I

26:37

think that's a pretty good first episode. I don't know

26:39

what you feel about it, but I'm happy with it.

26:41

Hopefully the listeners enjoy it.

26:43

Anything you want to say before we take off here?

26:46

Just, that was good. Just a little taste

26:48

of what's to come, right?

26:49

Yeah, exactly. Sounded better than anything

26:51

I've ever heard on the internet I don't you wouldn't like

26:53

it, but heh. And,

26:55

many positive things on the internet Jason

26:57

My Facebook feed is just all stuff

26:59

that's geared towards me, and I just, I

27:01

don't want to see anything I don't want to see, so

27:03

No,

27:04

Yeah, what other social media? Do you have Jason

27:06

just Facebook?

27:08

I, I think my MySpace might be

27:10

active?

27:11

what I was looking

27:13

yeah, no, don't have any of

27:15

myspace's servers alive.

27:17

are they still up? Is that still, figured that,

27:20

in like sixth grade.

27:21

yeah, sixth grade,

27:23

huh? Yeah

27:24

You probably bought stock in myspace, didn't you?

27:27

No, but I do remember it,

27:29

and, yeah, it was very popular

27:32

for a little bit, and Facebook

27:34

took over, and, it ruled our lives

27:36

well,

27:38

but, I'm gonna let you Sleep

27:40

on this tonight. You could think of some more digs

27:42

you want to get me with I don't want

27:44

to you know, waste them all in the first episode

27:46

It's a good thing. I got the edit button. Like I said,

27:48

so Anyways,

27:51

we want to thank everyone for listening. I

27:53

hope you have a good day and go

27:55
