Being as resilient and driven as people are as a community, well some, we have to understand how we got here

The years and years of adapting and contorting ourselves to fit within systems to make others comfortable

Whether you lost the accent, changed/cut your hair or even felt there’s only a certain type person this person or people like, so ima be just like that in order to get to where I desire.

AND WE ARE LOSING OURSELVES.

Being able to get into or out of certain spaces and or situations at the expense of your happiness and or authenticity isn’t so much resilience as it is assimilation.

But how could you blame anyone, the code switching is enforced by your loved ones.

Those that shape your perspective, your neighborhoods your peers, they all play a part into your pressure cooker. BUT TO BE AWARE and find that balance is all we are missing.

Instead of guiding those towards their version of whatever being they are we sort of forcibly as a community make those choose, which ever code you could switch to, to which you feel the least challenged and or “comfortable”.

Whilst still trying to show people you still possess the traits thatre natural to you and the code forced. And or at the wrong times. This bending to fit these molds have disconnected us more than we could understand.

We could go back to the house N word and the outside N word. There’s those that’d rather die than sell out, and there’s those that sell out because they want better. Somewhere along the lines wanting better and selling out became synonymous. The lines are so blurred people defend the fact that they code switch unbeknownst to them under the guise I just want better for me and mine or I worked harder to not be in these types of positions or environments and it’s sickening.

THE SAME PLACES WE JUDGE and ACTIONS WE JUDGE we Jump right into to “Prove” you’re woke down or w.e these intelligent dumbasses wanna act like.

BE YOU

Just because you had to switch up and or was taught to switch up in certain situations DOESNT MEAN ITS YOU.

LIVE FOR YOURSELF. not the image you care that people see of yourself.
