➢ The Institute of Race Relations (IRR) has released a report titled Economic Empowerment for the Disadvantaged – A Better Way to Empower South Africa’s Poor. The report makes the case for a thorough-going reform of the country’s approach to empowerment. It further addresses the profound failures of Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) in overcoming persisting disadvantages that continue to lock millions of people, particularly black South Africans, out of the formal economy.
