RATING
I loved listening to Tales From the Low City. I’m so partial to an anthology-style show that introduces wider elements of world building gradually over time. The creator-turned-narrator’s voice is so soothing and I loved hearing about the different life forms that live in The Low City and how the environment impacts their culture and society. It’s almost reassuring to think that, even in the face of ecological disaster, there will still be kids falling out with their parents because they want to be an artist. I can’t wait to return!
Dystopian fantasy in which environmental ruin has forced the inhabitants of a dying world underground. Episodes focus on different creatures in the society, exploring their cultures and individual stories from members of those cultures. This worldbuilding-heavy show is delivered through the same soothing cadence as in The Mistholme Museum of Mystery, Morbidity, and Mortality and explores ideas of survival, hope, and societal structure and divides.
