Love this from the moment it began. The whole idea of what is and isn't is always the questions we humans have. Can't wait for more.
Ho-ly shit is this show good. There’s only two episodes out and usually I wait until at least half a season to review but I am IMMERSED. Brilliant atmosphere, the pacing and tension are great, and this is one of the most solid casts I've heard in a while. The soundtrack is phenomenal as well. It's a unique form of sci-fi that really stands out, and it's doing something really special in the audio drama scene. I couldn’t recommend it enough.SPOILERS: I'm also blown away by how much Malachi and Cosima can sound like one another. Kudos to the acting and writing for taking something that in theory could be very complicated in audio and making it seamless.
too many gender politics, good show otherwise
Top shelf podcast. Intriguing and completely absorbing. Highly recommended.
This podcast is one of my favorite newer releases by far! The writing is extremely engaging, the characters fun and authentic, and the performances all very impressive - but the story in particular just has me utterly hooked. Every episode is better than the last and the plot has already had a significant number of twists that had me gasping out loud. It's really just heaps of fun and I can't get enough of it. It has me looking forward to every Friday for sure!
This show is one of my top favorites. I have never seen such a good dramatic execution on the concept of body swapping before. The slowly unfolding mystery of the true nature of Spire is engaging as hell. The characters and their relationships feel nuanced and real, complex. The twists invite deep questions on the nature of reality and personhood, which are some of my favorite themes to see explored! And they are definitely explored well, here. Highly recommend it, especially since, as of this writing, the first season is finished. The finale blew me away, and I can't wait for Part 2!!
This is a podcast I looked for, even though I didn't know it exists.Malachi wakes up in someone else's body, in a unfamiliar environment. At the same time, Cosima wakes up in his body and deals with it way better than him. There are complicated familial (and other) relationships - how much of ourselves should we give up for the people we owe? What do Malachi and Cosima have in common? What are their parents/employers playing at? The whole city is a huge spire, as the name suggests, and Malachi and Cosima live on different levels, one of them better off than the other. Of course, moving between levels is forbidden, and life up to this point was very different for those two. It's pretty clear from the start that they are out of their depth, but they have no idea how true that is. I love that kind of stories, where I get characters to root for, they get a chance to grow and involve themselves in very tangled situations. I can't wait for the second season.
A very well acted full cast New Weird story. Whilst not horror - but would be for fans of ‘Silt versus’ or Gormenghast.
