At only 18 years old, Ben made his State of Origin debut to become the youngest player in QLD history to represent the Maroons. Not only did he get his first series win but also crossed the line for a crucial try in Game III.

After growing up on the Gold Coast, QLD and playing for his state, Ben went on to play for Australia and played a total of 150 matches throughout his career.
