This first arc is called A Croak for Help and follows a vagrant in the slums of a colossal and impersonal city. Croak is a Drow street urchin who was once mentored by a powerful and secretive Druid. Now he uses his skills to survive day to day, feed his habit, and serve whatever crooks will employ him in petty crime. But his simple rhythms are about to change. Attracting notice is a dangerous idea in the slums. Suddenly everyone wants something from Croak.
