Episode 1: I'm Not Normal
Every one of us has a distinctive "voice" that makes us different from every other human. Something weird happens, though, whenever we sit down in front of a keyboard, speak into a microphone, or stand before an audience. Almost inevitably, our "voice" changes into something not us. Maybe we take on someone else's persona, or we clutter up our message and speech with "stuff" that sounds like anything but us. The result is always the same: disaster. That's because when you lose your voice, the biggest piece of your effectiveness and influence dries up and blows away.
In this inaugural podcast of "Say It You," I introduce myself--36 years in book publishing, PhD in communication, professor, speaker, entrepreneur, and clearly not normal--so that we might get started on this journey together. Creative communication is the name of our game, and I want to help equip you to effectively bring your message to your audience in the most compelling, memorable way possible. It all starts with taking you seriously. You're not normal, either, you see . . . and that's a very, very, very good thing.
