When it comes to Mithril, a recently discovered element that is even more valuable than gold, Durin already lied to Elrond. Now that the future Dwarven king believes Elrond is also concealing something, King Durin invites his son to travel to Lindon to learn the true motivations of the Elves.We are aware that Elrond isn't up to anything sinister and that the only reason he asked Durin was because of their friendship with the Prince. However, we still don't know Celebrimbor's exact motivations, the elf who dispatched Elrond to ask the Dwarves for assistance. Elrond's friendship with Durin may suffer if Celebrimbor is concealing something.
