Welcome back to the RV shenanigans podcast
0:15
presented by liquefied
0:17
. My name is Ryan and , along with
0:19
my wife Lauren , we are Millers in motion
0:22
. We have a handful of
0:24
these podcasts coming to you , still
0:26
from the Florida RV Super Show , but
0:28
we are very much so in earring the end . So
0:31
we have a huge favorite to ask what
0:33
do you guys want to hear ? We've done everything from
0:36
industry news and inside stuff . We've
0:38
addressed particular topics and we do
0:40
have a handful left that we're recording
0:42
at the moment , and then we've also done
0:44
a bunch of RV destination kind of
0:46
how we live in our rig , that kind of stuff . So
0:49
we want to know what you guys want to hear . We've given
0:51
you kind of a blanket coverage of everything and
0:55
we've absolutely loved doing that , but we
0:57
want to start dialing it into what exactly
0:59
you guys want . So let
1:01
us know . If you're watching this on YouTube , you can
1:03
do that in the comments below . If you are listening
1:06
to this on your favorite podcast platform , you
1:08
can actually send us a message over on Instagram
1:10
, or feel free to shoot us
1:12
an email at info at
1:14
Millers in motion . All right
1:17
, so this week's guest
1:19
are some of our favorite people on the planet
1:21
. We met them originally
1:23
way back when , a few weeks
1:25
before the filming of season one of RV
1:27
unplugged , I got to know at least Phil
1:29
really well . During
1:32
season one of RV unplugged
1:34
and leading up to
1:36
the Florida RV super show , we had literally
1:38
hung out with them for like almost two months
1:40
straight . We spent New Year's with them , we
1:43
spent the show with them , because we were camp next to each
1:45
other while we were attending the show
1:47
. And then we went to season two
1:50
, filming of RV unplugged , together , where
1:52
we camp next to each other and kind of leaned
1:54
on each other , cause if you've never well
1:56
, a lot of people have never been through a production like that
1:58
it's draining is probably
2:01
the best word and Lauren had to fly back during
2:03
some of it . So Phil
2:05
and Stacy took care of me during that time . So we're
2:07
very appreciative . But I just
2:09
said who we're having on . But without any
2:11
further ado , let's dive into this
2:14
week's guest , our first
2:16
repeat guest , our
2:18
really , really good friends over at . Today is Sunday
2:20
, phil and Stacy , let's take a quick
2:22
break and dive into the interview . What's
2:25
the worst part about RVing ? It's the black tank . No
2:28
one likes to have to deal with a stinky or messy black
2:30
tank . Let the team over
2:32
at liquefied RV black tank management
2:35
help you out . Created from the team over at
2:37
Matt's RV reviews , this
2:39
is a 100% biodegradable product made
2:42
right here in the good old US of A . Liquefied
2:46
will help break down your black tank waste as well
2:48
as help with those odors . In
2:50
addition to helping with those odors , it's
2:53
got an actually really great orange smell to it , so
2:55
not only does it help break down those odors , it
2:57
also helps freshen the bathroom . One
3:00
of my favorite features is actually this easy measure
3:02
pour spout , because
3:04
it's designed this way . You don't have to bring in other
3:06
cups or measuring devices of any kind . Dump
3:10
what you need in for your size tank , because it's a dump
3:12
what you need in for your size tank , put the
3:14
cap back on and you're done . To learn
3:16
more about liquefied RV black tank treatment , you
3:18
can visit liquefied RVcom . Do
3:21
us a favor . Please support the brands that support
3:23
us , because they enable us to be able to bring
3:25
you the podcast and the regular
3:27
videos . To purchase liquefied black tank
3:30
treatment . Please see the link down below Music
3:35
playing . And
3:39
we are coming to you still live . This is actually
3:41
our very last oops , second to last . Sorry
3:43
, I forgot about the add-in show . Never
3:45
mind , we're still coming to you live from the 2024
3:48
Florida RV Super Show and we want
3:50
to say a big thanks to the team over at Alliance RV for
3:52
letting us kind of crash their party and
3:54
set up shop over here and bring you
3:57
all of our friends and guests and industry
3:59
insiders and all that stuff we've been doing all
4:01
week long . You guys have slowly
4:04
become some of our really good friends on the road because
4:06
we've been hanging out , it feels like , for about the last two
4:08
months . We want to welcome Phil and
4:10
Stacy from . Today is Someday . How are y'all
4:12
?
4:13
Thank you . We're good and we are loving it . We've
4:16
had some great times together already and
4:18
we can't wait for more .
4:19
I think you mispronounced good times with
4:22
shenanigans .
4:23
I was going to say shenanigans .
4:24
Sorry , I didn't mean it . Through proper synergy , is that the ?
4:26
term . Yes , that's right , shenanigans , is
4:28
it ?
4:29
I will say you guys are also our first official
4:31
repeat guest .
4:33
Woo , I love being first . Wow , you got
4:35
our first guest and our first repeat
4:37
guest . Dang , we rock you
4:39
too . Good job .
4:40
In addition to that , last night you guys
4:42
hosted a little meetup that was sponsored by
4:44
RV , unplugged our good friends over there
4:46
that we're getting ready to shoot season two with , but
4:48
, if you guys don't mind , what was the
4:50
point of the meetup ? What did we do ? All that good
4:53
stuff .
4:53
This is one of our awesome epic
4:55
fundraisers that we do all year long . We've
4:58
been doing since we started our YouTube channel , and
5:00
this is our second year joining forces with
5:02
not only RV Unplugged but the local
5:04
Elks Lodge , and our mission
5:07
, of course , is to raise money for our veterans
5:09
in need . So last night
5:11
, thanks to the sponsorship
5:14
of RV Unplugged , we raised a total
5:16
of $12,000
5:18
for our veterans . Yes
5:20
yes , so we are super thrilled
5:22
.
5:23
And that is three times as
5:25
much as we raised last year
5:27
.
5:27
Is it really ? Yes , that's awesome .
5:29
So , it's amazing , it was just over 4,000 last
5:31
year , and it just shows that
5:34
the RV community is
5:36
, and always will be , just awesome
5:38
. I mean , there's no other way to say it the
5:41
RV community . Every time we ask of
5:43
them , they always answer and
5:46
they don't hesitate .
5:47
So last night was a great , great event . Yes , in
5:50
addition to that , it was just fun .
5:52
Oh my gosh , it was so much fun , and
5:54
that's what we love about the community is we all get
5:56
together . Everybody there makes
5:58
connections . They meet up later on down
6:00
the road and it was I
6:02
don't know it was a great night . I was exhausted
6:05
, but it's so worth it .
6:06
It is , and I'm going to say thank you for being the voice
6:08
right , because you're leading those things
6:11
and you are the voice for certain veterans
6:13
that may not have one otherwise . So not only are
6:15
you pivotal and bringing people together , you're
6:17
pivotal in getting that where it needs
6:19
to go .
6:20
And thanks . But you know , really most
6:22
people want to give back , they want to figure out a way
6:24
to pay it forward and volunteer
6:27
or donate , and they just don't know where to start
6:29
. So you know , we are really happy
6:31
to lead people there and , you know
6:33
, help them make a difference because they
6:35
want to .
6:36
Right , well , again , thank you guys so much
6:38
for doing that . I know that that money is going to go to
6:40
a couple of good causes across not
6:42
just Tampa , but homes for our troops , absolutely
6:44
so . It's been a little while since
6:46
you guys have been on YouTube and got on the road
6:48
and all that , but let's back up
6:50
. Why are you laughing at that , phil it
6:53
?
6:54
seems like yesterday . It's been
6:56
almost six years . Has it been six ? Yeah , we're
6:58
getting close to it .
6:59
So we want to kind of backtrack all the way to the beginning
7:02
. What ultimately got you guys on the road
7:04
?
7:05
Stacy told me we're going to do it . That's usually
7:07
how most things work in the house .
7:09
No , it's normal .
7:10
Yeah , no , really , you know it
7:12
was a culmination of a lot of things . The kids
7:14
were leaving the nest . I was looking to downsize
7:17
. Phil had been gone for 18 months
7:19
overseas by himself and
7:21
he came home and my nurse practitioner
7:23
job had me working so much he actually
7:25
saw me more on FaceTime when we were
7:28
apart than when he got there
7:30
. So we were just trying to find a way to get some
7:32
time back from when Phil was in
7:34
the military and really are being fit
7:36
the bill for us .
7:38
Gotcha spot on it . The downsizing
7:40
is what we were really looking at . So we were we
7:43
were going to Move houses because
7:45
it was just us two , so we didn't need all that space
7:47
, and she convinced me
7:49
that we could always get
7:51
another house later . The rv
7:53
would be the great vehicle to get out and
7:55
see our own country , because
7:58
we did travel a lot overseas . And
8:00
um it just it . It took some
8:02
convincing , but once I agreed to
8:04
her , her uh , move
8:06
.
8:07
In other words , he agreed to purge all his stuff
8:09
. That's really what he's saying .
8:10
That was the hardest part , but I got
8:13
to tell you it was probably the best decision
8:15
that we could have made as a couple . Yeah , back in 2017
8:18
, when we decided To jump in and
8:20
go so did you guys have our being
8:22
experienced prior to that ?
8:23
Zero , not a drop of zero camping as
8:25
a family , zero RVing as a
8:27
family . When we were kids we dabbled
8:30
a little bit with our families , but never once
8:32
we joined the military and got married .
8:33
No , I'm surprised how many people say that
8:35
, that they really had zero experience
8:37
before they got into RVs . I could spell
8:40
RV that was about it , it
8:44
just really , I mean , it's something that
8:46
you saw .
8:46
I mean we drove by Uh , a campground
8:49
close to our house and that was it
8:51
. We just drove by it , never gave it a second look
8:53
. And then we ended up Going there for
8:55
the first two months that we were out of the house and
8:58
it really started to open our eyes to how
9:00
much the RV community was
9:02
there , what it could do for for us as
9:04
a couple .
9:05
Yeah , very cool .
9:07
So when you guys hit that road
9:09
that first time was it ? Did you have a time
9:11
frame in mind or was it just we're gonna go and see what
9:13
happens ?
9:14
Well , originally we said a year . We'll give
9:17
it a year . And you know , see , if I really
9:19
like it , because you know it's so
9:21
different than a regular of sticks and
9:23
bricks life . So , um , we
9:25
gave it a year and by the time we were I don't even
9:27
know if we were more than three months in we were
9:29
already like this is it ? I , we're
9:31
not stopping .
9:32
No , we . That's when we shifted from calling
9:34
the RV the RV and
9:37
started calling it our house . That's
9:39
when we knew we were kind of on to something and
9:42
you know it's , it's been you
9:44
know no . Looking back since , right .
9:46
So more recently now you've seen
9:48
a lot of this country at this point right
9:50
.
9:51
Um yeah , not everything . We still have a long way
9:53
to go , but we have checked a lot of boxes
9:55
and , and you know she says that
9:57
, and we really haven't even scratched the surface
9:59
.
10:00
Yeah we've seen a lot , we've met a lot of great people
10:02
, but yet we haven't .
10:04
So more recently . Now , though , you guys are starting
10:06
to dabble in international travel .
10:08
Yes , yes .
10:09
So what spurred that on ?
10:11
Well , you know honestly , for full-time RVers
10:14
, five years is the average lifespan
10:16
for a full-time RVer . Usually they're ready
10:19
to do something new and try something else
10:21
, and a lot of times that means buying
10:23
another house and we're not ready to do
10:25
that . We're not done traveling . We
10:27
just want to mix it up a little bit and
10:29
change where we're going and some of the ways
10:31
we're traveling . Gotcha .
10:33
And you know , when we were in the military , we
10:35
were on different ships at one time and
10:37
our ships would meet Overseas
10:40
in a foreign port . Um , hong Kong
10:42
was our first port that we . We were both there together
10:45
and we both got to explore
10:47
and and See a different
10:49
side of of . You know the country
10:51
and it just it it's
10:53
burned , that it's to just continue to travel
10:56
and explore and that's
10:58
what we're going to continue to do .
10:59
So and you know
11:02
I I really believe when you experience
11:04
other cultures and other countries
11:06
and when I say cultures I even mean
11:08
cultures in our country I
11:10
mean the culture in Boston is so different than
11:12
New Orleans and California so you
11:15
do experience different kinds of people
11:17
, different cultures , different way to do things . In
11:19
the us , as well as in other countries , you grow
11:22
as a person you understand People
11:24
better , you see where they're coming from
11:26
and I think for me that's a big part
11:28
of it . I want to see , you know
11:31
, we were in just in Italy for 30
11:33
, 40 days and I wanted to immerse
11:35
myself in their culture . I wanted to kind
11:37
of get to know the people , how they lived , what
11:39
they do . I just think it makes
11:41
you a better person and you can understand
11:43
their viewpoint .
11:45
So obviously in the navy you guys were deployed all over
11:47
the place , but so outside of that , did you have
11:49
a lot of experience with international travel
11:51
?
11:52
We had taken a few trips , uh , here
11:55
and there , while I was on leave , and
11:57
, um , you know , it was it
12:00
. It's , it's completely different , because when
12:02
you , for me , I had two weeks of a
12:04
vacation at a time , so we
12:06
would , we would , you know , go , go , go
12:08
, hurry , hurry , hurry . Well , you didn't really have
12:10
time to get out and linger and
12:12
, like we did in Italy , immerse yourself , sure
12:14
, because you've got to get there , you got to see it , you got to check
12:17
the box , you move on , then you've got to get back
12:19
, because now you got to go back into work
12:21
mode and for a two week
12:23
vacation for us , after about seven
12:25
or eight days , my mind had already switched back
12:27
to work mode . So , and I was really
12:30
, you know , cheating us on our vacation because
12:32
I was ready to get back right now we
12:34
just we take our time you
12:36
know we like to and a lot of our travels
12:38
we come back to those places because
12:41
we found that we weren't there long enough and
12:44
we'll come back , so that now it's just allowed us
12:46
to slow down and really get out and
12:48
get to see these places and enjoy
12:50
them .
12:51
So obviously you guys were in Italy for
12:53
40 days . You said yes . So was
12:55
that just straight Airbnb
12:57
? Did you move around a little bit ?
12:59
We did a 30-day Airbnb
13:01
. So we were just south of Naples
13:03
, in like a small town , and then from
13:05
there we did the rest of the time
13:07
in Rome . So it wasn't Airbnb
13:10
, and you know , we went to the local market , we
13:12
bought fresh bread , we got to know the shop
13:14
owners , we got to know our neighbors . We
13:16
started running into people in town that
13:18
we had met and they were like hey , how's
13:20
it going ? It was really interesting .
13:23
And it was really good to try your hand at a
13:25
different language .
13:27
Bill actually did really good . We
13:29
won't talk about my language skills
13:31
.
13:31
I tried as much as I could and
13:33
, believe it or not , the locals appreciate
13:36
it . That you're at least giving
13:38
it an effort . Now we were butchering
13:41
the language , but they appreciate
13:43
it , they understand that you're trying
13:45
and that helps them as well , because
13:48
language barriers anywhere make it
13:50
harder . But we
13:53
really tried to immerse ourselves and
13:55
just be with one
13:57
within the city or the town that we were in .
13:59
I was going to say and I can speak to that too , because I
14:01
travel internationally quite a bit and I
14:03
tell people all the time when you go , just learn a little
14:05
bit , you don't have to have a lot , just try to say
14:07
hello , how
14:10
are you , thank you , and then maybe learn how to ask
14:12
do you speak English in their own language
14:14
. And the appreciation you get just
14:16
for trying that butchure .
14:18
It don't butcher it , it just warms them up
14:20
a little bit better and that was the word that we heard
14:22
a lot is they appreciated us at
14:25
least attempting , because you
14:28
get a stereotype if you go over there and
14:30
you expect everyone to speak your language in
14:32
their country . So every little bit helps
14:35
.
14:35
And you said expect they
14:37
appreciate it . Normally there's some giggling in
14:39
there .
14:39
First because , like a lot of people laugh
14:41
at me a lot . That
14:44
was horrible .
14:44
But a genre no , and just didn't come off .
14:46
So now we say that , Phil
14:48
, you got to hit us with a little bit if you've .
14:51
Oh good , grave , did you already
14:53
data ?
14:53
dump yeah .
14:56
Reach back into the archives . Oh my gosh , and he
14:58
was good at it too .
14:59
Well , we did a lot of you know how
15:03
.
15:03
about this one ? Because this seems like something you may have said
15:05
a few times . May
15:07
I have some ice cream Gelato
15:10
? Yeah gelato .
15:13
What was it ?
15:13
I didn't think he remembers this
15:16
, wasn't that ?
15:16
long ago . Well we
15:19
, you switch gears , we're at an RV
15:21
show .
15:21
It's out of my mind . As
15:24
she said , you data dumped yeah .
15:26
I did , but I mean , it was the more common
15:28
phrases .
15:32
I almost saved you . So my only tip if you're
15:35
traveling international is don't
15:37
just do all the big touristy items
15:39
. You know , don't go to the . You
15:41
know the Instagram word , these shots . There are
15:43
so many off the beaten
15:45
path areas that you can go to ask
15:48
someone there locally where
15:50
their favorite places are , their favorite restaurants
15:52
, their favorite parks , something
15:55
like that , and you really will get to know the
15:57
country much better than if you only
15:59
hit those famous touristy spots
16:01
.
16:01
Right . So when you guys
16:03
were in the Navy , did any of your travels
16:05
there kind of inspire where you want to go
16:07
next , or even Italy 100%
16:10
?
16:10
Oh yeah , a little bit . I would say 100%
16:12
, because we were there for four or five
16:14
days , so it piqued your interest or one
16:16
or two , yeah , and then you'd like . Okay , let
16:19
me put this on the list , because I definitely want to
16:21
come back or where we don't want to go back to
16:23
, I mean we've been to some beautiful places but
16:25
you know , like Singapore was amazing but
16:27
it's so expensive .
16:28
Right .
16:29
So you know , yes , I would love to go there , but
16:31
maybe after I win the lot
16:33
.
16:33
Well , we actually met in Japan
16:36
, so we lived in
16:38
the country for a couple of years , and
16:40
back then I wasn't as adventurous
16:42
as Stacy was .
16:43
He needed a lot of training . She would jump on the train
16:46
and she would just go .
16:47
She would go to a restaurant and just say
16:49
, I'll take that .
16:50
I would just you know , japanese have
16:53
picture menus and I would just pick a
16:55
picture and I'm like don't tell me what it is . I
16:57
don't want to be biased . I'll taste it when
16:59
it gets here and I'll decide and it is adventurous
17:02
. I did that for two years . I would just hop on a train
17:04
and get off at a random stop and just walk around
17:06
, and it took a while to get full into it .
17:08
Yeah , I was like , I'll go out , but where's
17:10
?
17:10
the local McDonald's . He's like I'm getting noodles
17:13
, give me a stir fry .
17:13
I wasn't that Up
17:15
to you know , trying new things back then .
17:17
So , but that you even bring up a good point , because even the McDonald's
17:20
are different , oh , my goodness , everywhere
17:22
you go .
17:22
So while we were there , I could get a great teriyaki
17:25
burger .
17:25
You remember back in the day .
17:27
But you couldn't get it anywhere else .
17:29
And that you know . We argued about that a little bit . You
17:31
don't go overseas and go to change .
17:33
Chili .
17:34
Yeah .
17:35
I learned real quick that I had
17:37
to change my way of travel , or somebody was going
17:39
to change a lot of things .
17:40
You know , we had to work at work . 40 days was
17:42
turning into a week , real fast .
17:44
Yeah , but again it just shows that you know
17:46
you can get out of your comfort zone Right . I've
17:49
tried things that I would have never tried back
17:52
here in the States because I
17:54
had my comfort food .
17:55
Well , that includes red wine . Phil really
17:58
got into red wine . We were in Italy , so
18:00
I , finally we can do some harvest hosting . He
18:02
hit some wineries and he won't complain .
18:04
Yeah , well , I'm , you know , I'm a sailor at heart .
18:06
I'd like to say he'll like , like beer .
18:08
So I just I tried
18:10
here in the States to drink red wine and
18:13
I didn't like it . We get to Italy and all of a sudden
18:15
I liked it .
18:16
It's just like the pizza and the pasta . It's different
18:18
.
18:18
It's not the same . Oh yes , I never
18:20
thought I would enjoy a
18:23
three topping pizza ever .
18:25
You know I'm a , I'm loaded up
18:27
and you know let's go . But over there , completely
18:30
different Everything , and it was , it was
18:32
amazing .
18:33
Now , on the flip side of that , we did find a pretty
18:35
good pizza place in the Hill Country when we were down there
18:37
, although it looked questionable
18:40
when we pulled off .
18:41
Those are usually the best ones . They are yeah .
18:44
So do you have any destinations that are kind
18:46
of circled coming up ? That do
18:48
we do , of course we do .
18:50
Which area are we talking ?
18:52
All right , so I will go ahead and drop
18:55
a little , a little tidbit here that
18:57
won't be going on the channel . So if you're
18:59
, if you don't catch it here , you won't catch it . We
19:02
do have the beaches of Normandy
19:04
coming up . So , as you guys know
19:06
, we just talked about it this morning how
19:08
much we love our veterans and we
19:11
really want to go over there and experience that
19:13
and just feel the moment over there and
19:15
hopefully share that with some people who
19:17
can't make it over there . Right , yeah , that's
19:19
uh and that'll be this year .
19:21
Yeah , we , we have so many bucket list
19:24
items . Sure , and
19:26
it you know you . You check two or three items
19:28
off your bucket list and in the process you add
19:30
four or five more .
19:30
That's what I was gonna say . She told me the list is actually
19:33
growing it grows , I think , every
19:35
day .
19:35
But it's , it's something , it's something
19:37
good to shoot for . You know you , you put it down
19:39
, you write it down and then you
19:41
, every time you come back to , to whatever
19:44
spreadsheet you have it on , you're constantly looking
19:46
at it . So it forces you to say , okay
19:48
, we've got to just finally do this . And Stacy's
19:50
starting to do that , she's starting to schedule those
19:53
things out so that we can plan accordingly
19:55
, because you can't just wake up in the morning , pack
19:57
a bag and head over seas . I mean , there's
19:59
a lot of things you have to look into . So we we
20:02
definitely Will make a few more hops
20:04
across the pond .
20:05
I have an unplanned question have you
20:07
ever considered or have any of your
20:09
travels been based around ? I want to experience
20:12
this type of event and then
20:14
that determines the destination .
20:16
Absolutely Well . We are actually have really
20:18
been talking about that Over
20:20
the past couple of months . There are several events
20:22
that we're looking at . There's something in Montana
20:25
, there's the air show in Wisconsin
20:27
and we so
20:33
we really want to hit some of those . We think it'll
20:35
be a lot more fun if we have something . We
20:37
can rally around an event , um
20:39
, and we're going to be doing that with our crew . So , if
20:42
you guys don't know , we have a someday crew
20:44
and we do meetups all over the
20:46
country and we hang out . So we really want
20:48
to plan some of those Really
20:50
cool festivals and events and , you
20:52
know , unique things that you find across the country .
20:54
And you guys are part of the crew , so you need
20:56
to .
20:58
Actually show up and hang out with us .
21:00
I jokingly say we're probably your worst crew
21:02
members , because I think I have an open discord
21:04
in about six months .
21:05
But actually only about 50% of our
21:07
our peeps are on discord .
21:09
Yeah , we found the same .
21:10
Yeah , so you know that social media at something
21:13
else , and sometimes people aren't big social
21:15
media people or they're like , actually busy
21:17
and have a life , and that's okay too , yeah
21:19
, but then we gather together and they come
21:21
and we all meet up . We have a great time . So
21:23
you know , it's all good .
21:25
We've definitely said that this year we need to
21:27
make a better effort to go
21:29
to more events and not just be in our own little
21:31
space and continuously do our own thing
21:33
. So as you guys know , once you get into
21:35
the youtube , and in this case , now podcast world
21:37
. You can get tunnel vision kind of quick
21:39
.
21:40
It's overwhelming and and you could actually
21:42
drown in all this work Like it could be
21:44
endless . So sometimes you know
21:46
and I'm talking to myself as much as
21:48
you you actually have to draw a line in the sand
21:51
and say , okay , you need to pause somebody
21:53
once told me that there are two
21:55
forms of living .
21:56
You can they're surviving and there's thriving
21:58
and you don't do both at the same time
22:00
, that is brilliant . So if you're going through a season
22:02
of life that's only surviving . That's all you're focused
22:05
on right but then , like for us , the
22:07
past six months was that , and now that we're coming
22:09
out of that , we're looking at these thriving moments
22:11
. Yes , or some of them .
22:12
Somebody gave us a great piece of advice
22:14
when first started , and that was don't
22:16
live your experiences through the lens
22:18
of your camera . Don't live your entire life
22:21
and travels through the lens of that
22:23
camera you're carrying . So
22:25
we , we're starting to get a lot better
22:27
at putting the camera down . Stacy is
22:29
that is , and
22:32
you know you , you have to do that every now and then
22:34
for your sanity , sure , so
22:36
it's we're , you know , six years in and we're getting
22:38
better at that trying to find a little
22:40
balance , yeah but it's tough because
22:42
that tunnel vision you just mentioned it
22:45
comes quick it does . Next
22:47
thing , you know , you're six months in and you're like what the heck
22:49
happened . You right ?
22:50
we were just talking about it this morning and I said
22:52
you know we're I'm . We love
22:54
the super show , we love meeting everybody
22:56
, but it is exhausting . Yes
22:59
and it's not that I can't talk to everybody
23:01
all day , but at some point I need a few hours of
23:03
sleep . And I was
23:05
so excited because we obviously are going to
23:07
go be filming RV on plugged here pretty soon
23:09
and we don't have to film
23:11
anything after that because we pre-planned and
23:13
so we don't have to film a drive day which is
23:15
the first time , I think , in maybe
23:17
a year , that we're not
23:18
actually pulling a camera out on a drive day so
23:21
you can actually pay attention to where you're going
23:23
.
23:23
Yeah right , Not what's all around you . It's
23:25
beneficial . I've driven past this thing 14
23:27
times . I didn't know it existed .
23:29
I literally have no content right now
23:31
, like I have nothing in the bank . I haven't recorded
23:33
a single thing since we've been here , so
23:35
I think we're gonna go live today . So if
23:37
you guys are listening , we're actually go youtube
23:39
live Somewhere in the show
23:42
.
23:42
So find us and say well , if you want mics
23:44
, you can do it right here .
23:45
I don't know but we're gonna walk around .
23:47
Oh , never mind . Yeah , like we're this would be a lot to
23:49
carry . Yeah , it would so .
23:50
I don't know what it's gonna look like . It'll be our first time doing
23:53
it .
23:53
It could be like a scavenger hunt find you .
23:55
That would be really fun . So the one thing for
23:57
us with coming to the show is
24:00
, as you said , it is
24:02
exhausting , but it's our way to say
24:04
thank you , right it is to as many people
24:06
as we can in one place .
24:08
It's very fulfilling to see everybody .
24:09
It is , and we were talking about it this morning
24:12
, and I mean we didn't go to bed till after two o'clock
24:14
this morning . From the event last , night
24:16
.
24:16
I'm aware you were my ride .
24:19
And then you know you get back up . You know
24:21
you get up in the morning and you're just you're dragging
24:23
because it's you're so exhausted , but
24:25
you know it's ahead of you and that's getting
24:28
out Meeting people saying
24:30
thank you , and that's not only the people that watch
24:32
us , but the , the companies that we
24:34
work with that are here so it's a . It's a great
24:36
way to put faces Uh to names
24:38
and just really say thank you for
24:41
the support .
24:41
Yeah , so not to just completely drop what
24:43
we're talking about and go back to my list , because lauren
24:46
made less .
24:47
We do go off on a squirrel all the time no
24:50
. That's what happens when you're chatting
24:52
with friends .
24:52
It's so easy . It's so easy you forget .
24:54
You know we're actually recording this . We're not just having
24:56
a conversation in our living room .
24:57
Yeah , well , it's , we were last time . But , that's
25:00
just normally when we do these things .
25:02
Yes , we're still on a tangent .
25:03
We request 72 degrees and green
25:06
m&ms , so you know it's not
25:08
50 degrees and shade and a wind
25:10
tunnel .
25:10
He obviously didn't get the memo .
25:12
Makes you feel any better . I'm in a fishing shirt . I didn't cold
25:14
too . So to come back
25:16
a little bit to international travel , do you guys have
25:18
any plans to do some rv versions of
25:20
that ?
25:21
Oh , of course we do . Phil doesn't , because he doesn't
25:23
know what I'm cooking up , but I am
25:25
cooking . We do have . I have three
25:28
countries on my list that I would . We
25:30
may be hitting in 25 . Um
25:32
, we're also going to be RVing those countries
25:34
and I'm I'm going to keep them on the download only
25:36
because If they don't come to
25:39
fruition , I don't , I don't want to talk about it
25:41
.
25:41
So I love that . Phil just nods .
25:42
He's like yep , uh-huh , that's what we're doing I
25:44
truly am just the driver
25:47
and the guy that fixes and cleans things
25:49
.
25:50
He does a great job doing dishes . When he says clean
25:52
things , he does , he cleans pretty much everything
25:54
.
25:54
Well , when we were going through the , the canadian
25:57
border , as an example , the
25:59
, the border agents asking us where
26:01
you going , and I'm looking over at stacey
26:03
and he says how long you're gonna be there , and
26:05
again I turn and look at stacey . So now he's
26:07
looking at us like Okay , these guys
26:09
are suspects . That they just don't know it yet , but
26:12
I truly I I just said look , I'm
26:14
good , let's go tell me where we're going , and that's
26:16
kind of how we do it .
26:18
Which that's kind of some of the fun , though right for you at
26:20
least , because we I have this thing , especially
26:22
with the rig and the size we are . She'll
26:24
have some ideas , but I normally kind
26:26
of put my thumbprint on the drive days just because
26:28
I'm the one driving it and I don't
26:30
want to get stuck somewhere on accident . So , but
26:33
you guys are , we have , we have a great you know so
26:36
rhythm when we're driving .
26:37
She's the navigator . You
26:39
know she's .
26:40
Look , I've been telling him where to go for 30 years
26:42
. Let's not change that . I don't want to stop . I'm
26:45
so used to it now .
26:46
But we have our roles on travel day and
26:50
she's working , editing , doing
26:53
all those things while we're driving , and
26:55
the navigator on top of that , so she keeps us out
26:57
of a jam and gets us in the right spot
26:59
Most of the time .
27:00
Yeah , so it works out . Last international
27:02
question OK .
27:03
I know we keep diverting . I'm so sorry . We're
27:05
terrible , terrible podcasters .
27:08
That's . I'm just fishing , I'm bringing
27:10
you back in a little bit .
27:11
I don't know about you , but I look good .
27:14
You do have a voice for radio .
27:15
Yes , I do Face for radio .
27:18
I do so ? When you guys do
27:20
travel away from the RV , how
27:22
do you kind of manage that or store the RV
27:24
? And I say that knowing full well what
27:26
you do . I'm talking about what you're going to
27:28
do now that they've moved .
27:29
Oh my gosh , I don't know what we're going to do . We've
27:31
been really lucky . We've left the RV in our daughter's
27:34
driveway and it was plugged in . We left it
27:36
with Phil's uncle once and
27:38
it was plugged in on that property , and
27:40
now that our daughter is selling her
27:42
house and moved to a real neighborhood , we can't park
27:44
in the driveway .
27:45
So I don't know what we're going to do
27:48
.
27:48
So we're going to have to leave it for up to 30 days
27:50
at a time somewhere . So we're still deciding
27:52
if we're going to leave it in a campground We've done that
27:54
before for short term or if
27:56
we're going to store it somewhere . So , we'll
27:59
have to navigate that and we will definitely share
28:01
our experience with you guys .
28:02
So TBD yes .
28:05
I prefer having it somewhere where eyes can watch it whether
28:07
it's a park or a friend's house . Storage
28:09
unit doesn't really give me a warm fuzzy
28:12
.
28:12
Nope At all , just because there's not that
28:14
Even plugged in . Yeah , even with cameras
28:16
, yeah Right .
28:17
We did that . The first six months we owned it because
28:19
we still had the house . But
28:22
yeah , it's a little bit trickier to navigate
28:24
now that we've lost that mooch
28:26
ducking spot .
28:27
I know Really , how dare my daughter not think
28:29
about us when she's deciding where to live ?
28:31
I'm not going to lie now . I am distracted because Todd
28:34
and Tony are playing with everything on our table
28:36
over there .
28:36
Welcome toddlers into the podcast tent
28:38
.
28:40
I had no idea what Todd was saying . Tony's now
28:42
fixing what Todd did . Oh
28:46
, he was asking who's ? Cameras , those are both ours
28:48
.
28:49
It's so funny .
28:50
Well , it's facing them . That little guy right there is facing
28:52
us , we made it Welcome to live
28:54
podcasting . And what
28:56
12 podcasts without anybody doing that . Todd's been here
28:58
for five minutes . That's
29:00
so funny .
29:01
He is I think he's sleep deprived , because he
29:03
got off the podium . He got off the podium
29:06
yesterday , jumped in his truck and started driving
29:08
.
29:09
And now we're here in Central Florida , ready
29:11
for some RV unplugged .
29:12
We're all ready . It's going to be so cool , it
29:14
is .
29:16
He said he's ready to sleep , aren't
29:18
we all Well , I ?
29:19
think that's what . Three weeks now we can take a nap
29:21
. Yeah , that's about right . Not till then
29:23
.
29:24
OK , guys , first of all , thank you so much for being
29:26
on the show once again . I do have
29:28
a few listener questions for you , though .
29:30
Oh , interesting , full disclosure . Somebody actually
29:32
sent a question . I just figured man
29:34
. Thanks , mom , so you got .
29:37
Actually , it's your daughter Probably .
29:39
I'm just kidding .
29:40
So you had a lot . I narrowed
29:42
it down to three , and one threatened
29:44
me , so that one definitely got in .
29:46
So the one that threatened me is
29:48
Eric from Colorado .
29:50
I think this it's for both of you , but Phil's
29:52
going to be the one that reacts . How
29:55
do you feel about Army's victory over
29:57
Navy ? Next question yeah , there's
30:00
other things in there , I'll let you assume it
30:02
. We may have muted the wags last night for doing
30:04
the same thing .
30:05
Oh , that's so funny , we did do that .
30:07
The Army Navy game is one of the
30:09
most watched and talked about games
30:11
every year and for us
30:14
it's a great
30:17
time of year for the military to get together
30:19
and smack talk and it's
30:21
all in good fun and
30:23
I always rib the other services . But at the end
30:25
it's one team , one fight and for
30:27
14 years straight Navy I
30:30
knew that was coming Army and the
30:32
tide has changed a little bit , so Army is one of
30:34
the last few , but it's
30:36
just . That's truly America's game and for
30:38
us it just
30:40
opens lines of communication a little bit funnier
30:43
and heavier .
30:44
Well , and I will say , as the civilian
30:46
side of college football , I would appreciate if
30:48
one of any of the branch of the military had put
30:50
a team that could beat anybody else outside
30:52
of the military .
30:53
That's so funny , Well we actually
30:55
did a huge fundraiser two years in a row .
30:57
We did an Army .
30:58
Navy Smackdown so that's right . We
31:00
raised over $5,000 over those two years . That
31:02
was early on , where we were
31:05
all cheering for the game and then after the
31:07
game was over we had to get on and go live
31:09
. So if we lost , all of our Army
31:11
friends could dog us live on the
31:13
air .
31:14
And if we won , we could brag , did they
31:16
ever the first ? Year we won
31:18
the second year we lost Even here at the show
31:20
. I mean , that's their lead-in , go
31:23
Army .
31:23
Yeah , you know when they meet us .
31:25
It's all in good fun , it is .
31:27
And in the military it
31:29
means something when your service branch has
31:31
bragging rights .
31:32
Sure .
31:33
And we can't wait for Navy to get it back .
31:35
And we're getting it back so . Eric , just
31:37
hold tight , we're coming back .
31:40
I do like how I felt . So we're going to get it back , but , as
31:42
Faye said , please get it back .
31:44
And I said it like I'm part of the team . We are going
31:46
to get it back .
31:46
That's right . We're going to be right there .
31:48
OK , so this next question comes from Mary in
31:50
New Mexico . What has been your scariest
31:53
moment of RV life ?
31:55
I think when we were stuck in the mud .
31:58
Man , that was scary , but it wasn't my scariest . The
32:00
scariest for me is the
32:03
cars that Cut us off and
32:06
almost all yeah to crash . I
32:08
mean really everything else you
32:10
can kind of handle it . You can't handle somebody
32:12
cutting in front of you , and
32:15
that's why we have our dash top on a dime
32:17
.
32:17
Yeah , we're our dash cam is
32:19
there to protect us Agreed
32:22
but for me that's the scariest
32:24
part .
32:25
Getting stuck in the mud was scary because
32:27
it was . We thought we were damaging
32:29
the rig . You know , we just didn't know . We thought it was
32:31
gonna cost us a gazing in bucks to
32:33
get us out . So that's
32:35
yeah , that's what I think .
32:37
I think if you know you're , you're
32:39
aware that things can go wrong , you're kind
32:41
of prepared for it mentally when
32:43
things do go wrong , it doesn't freak
32:45
you out nearly as much . You know , you just
32:47
have to keep a calm head and really RV life
32:49
is a hundred percent going with the
32:51
flow .
32:52
You , you can't you get too wound tight
32:55
, phil , you just have to go with the flow
32:57
preparing for what you can and then Understanding
32:59
that there's a certain amount you can't prepare for absolutely
33:02
.
33:03
And no , I just I'm . You know it's my
33:05
house and I don't . I don't like
33:07
people that Assume that I can stop
33:09
on a dime . You know a 30 35,000
33:12
pound vehicle going down the road and
33:14
it's . I didn't really understand it either
33:16
until I got behind the wheel of one . Now I do
33:18
same and you know so
33:20
. If you're out there listening and you are around
33:22
RVs , slow down please
33:24
cut us off , please , we beg you
33:26
.
33:28
Okay . So this last question , these
33:30
competitive questions . I remember putting this together
33:32
like three weeks ago and I'm realizing what I've done
33:34
now . This is from Andy
33:36
in Michigan , who's going
33:38
to win RV on plug season two .
33:41
Oh my god , I don't know why this question is here . I
33:43
win everything . I am
33:45
winning we . We can just end
33:47
the podcast right here . We're done , it's
33:49
over .
33:51
Don't even go down this year . This is Phil's
33:53
year .
33:54
I can feel it the year of the Phil , I will say
33:56
, obviously if you watch RV unplugged .
33:58
I was on Phil's team for season one
34:00
even though Stacy picked me , I Still
34:03
get annoyed with red RV
34:05
unplugged shirts that just have the big logo on
34:07
the front . I'm looking specifically at a cast
34:10
to season two . Yours isn't read . It's
34:12
fine .
34:12
He's sucking up already . He's sucking up , so he's
34:14
already pledging his allegiance and we
34:17
say we were talking about Season
34:19
two .
34:19
Contestant is right over behind
34:22
us speaking of .
34:23
If you are here in the booth , live here
34:25
. In just a little bit the RV unplugged
34:27
. Season two cast Phil and Stacy will be wandering
34:29
around as well . We'll be here doing a
34:31
meet and greet as well .
34:33
We are super excited for season two
34:35
. Season one was kind of the learning year . We're
34:37
sorry . Season one contestants whatever .
34:39
I feel like they they're gonna get a bad rap because
34:41
season two is gonna blow season
34:43
one out of the water .
34:44
So if you're , if you've seen season
34:46
one or if you haven't seen season
34:49
one , go back and watch it . You'll get a ton of laughs
34:51
. But if you're ready for season
34:53
two , tell everybody , tell all your friends , check
34:56
this show out . It's , it's for everyone
34:58
. And we could
35:00
we could use the support , yeah
35:02
, to help this moving forward . So
35:04
we're excited for season two . The contestants
35:07
are excited . Stacy did a great job
35:09
casting .
35:09
We think yes , yes , but time we'll tell
35:11
the . We think they're at the last . It
35:14
depends on , probably how his team does especially
35:16
that guy over than the red shirt . He's already questionable
35:18
, that's right .
35:19
If , if we come out on top , then if team
35:22
feel , comes out on top .
35:24
Whatever did well at casting .
35:28
Awesome guys . Well , thank you so much . We're
35:30
excited for RV on plug . More excited , we're still
35:33
involved with you guys .
35:34
So we're coming over .
35:36
We're happy that Todd made it safely so
35:38
we can actually have a host for the show .
35:39
That's always a bonus .
35:41
He just likes to mess with things and they've all checked out
35:43
. I think Stephanie did all the driving
35:45
.
35:45
I think the season two contestants over
35:47
there smoozing him trying to get a leg up
35:49
at the end of the day , stephanie is in charge and
35:51
we understand . Yes , we all know that , that's
35:54
