Traditionally an active manager, TIAA / Nuveen decided to maximize their expertise in the ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) investing arena by launching a series of passively managed ESG ETFs. Nushares relies on TIAA’s ESG original research coupled with MSCI’s ESG ranking system.
