We are prone to forget. We build monuments to remember wars, people and events important to our culture and history, and even to remember ideas and beliefs. Think of the monuments we build to commemorate the concept of liberty, and to remind us not to forget, and lose our love for such an idea. We are just as prone to forget God, and all the benefits of obeying Him, and living life close to Him. When we forget God, our hearts make idols for us to worship with our affections, our time, and our resources. As Pastor Jordan will show us today, forgetfulness is the enemy of faith, and in Joshua chapter 4 we see God lead Israel through their plight of forgetfulness, which is much like ours today. Let’s not forget the God who has given us so much grace through Christ, and calls us to live lives of worship to Him.
