Hi folks and welcome to the podcast entitled “Race, Racism, and Why Black Lives Matter.” I am Professor Conrad Kanagy of Elizabethtown College and the author of several podcasts including this one. Students in my Race and Ethnic Relations course this semester are creating podcast episodes in which they apply the concepts and perspectives of sociology to real-world problems. You are receiving this because you are the friend or family member of a student in my course who will be sending you their own episode very shortly. I think you will enjoy this podcast and the questions and answers that my students address.

I have other podcasts you may also enjoy—one entitled “A Church Dismantled—A Kingdom Restored” which takes a sociological view of what is happening to American religion today but also weaves in stories from my 20 years of church ministry and my recent diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease.  https://dismantled1109915.buzzsprout.com/

Two other student authored podcasts are “Cops, Crime, and Criminal Justice?” https://www.buzzsprout.com/1291409 as well as “Riddles of Society and Answers from Sociology” https://www.buzzsprout.com/1291421. In both of these students will be recording episodes of relevant concepts, theories and current events in American society.

In the midst of the corona virus pandemic—there is no better time to try to understand the world from the perspective of Sociology! So enjoy these excellent episodes by friends and family members that  you just might know!

You may access all four of these podcasts on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher and nearly any podcast carrier.

Again, I’m Professor Conrad Kanagy and thank you for taking the time to listen!
