Jack Eichenbaum is a lifelong observer of New York City and other large cities around the world. His expertise lies in quantitative methods, historical urban geography, migration, ethnicity, and technological change. For 23 years Eichenbaum worked in the Property Division of the NYC Department of Finance, collecting data and modeling valuation of tax parcels. He teaches a course on the Geography of New York City at Hunter College and continues to update his familiarity with Queens by leading walking tours throughout the borough. In June 2010 he was appointed Queens Borough Historian. Eichenbaum holds a Ph.D. in urban geography from the University of Michigan.
