A 35 year old woman asks how to create an intimate relationship when she has never had sex. Dear Aunties,

I really don’t know if this is a question really… I’m a 35 year old woman & a virgin, the reasons are simple & complex all at the same time but in essence I’ve spent years working on myself and have progressed in most other areas of my life except this one. 

I long for a proper connection with a man but it terrifies me in equal measure so I’ve sabotaged a lot of potential situations. Physically I’ve lost a significant amount of weight in the last few years and my body bears the signs & while overall my confidence is at an all time high, the thoughts of revealing myself to someone else just doesn’t seem possible.

I just can’t see myself being able to move towards an intimate relationship and it saddens me. You are only the second person I’ve ever told about this. I’m interested in your perspective.
