The intention of this podcast is to give Buddhists, practitioners, and seekers with busy lives the opportunity for a short contemplation, or "pith instruction". In Buddhism, pith instructions are the most essential and practical instructions on a given topic of the teachings, often transmitted orally. In Tibetan, the word for pith instructions, men-nag, means something that is precise, applicable, effective and can be used immediately. Each “pith instruction” features short snippets (i.e. under 10 minutes) of treasured teachings from today’s Buddhist teachers, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Karmapa, Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche, and Pema Chodron. All teachings are in English. While the podcast draws principally from the Tibetan Buddhist teachers, it is non-sectarian in its approach to curating content. The podcast is run by a volunteer - me, Manny Fassihi - and not-for-profit. Therefore, selections often reflect teachings that resonate with me. There is no agenda other than to share the Buddha’s wisdom as transmitted through these amazing teachers. If you think you’re too busy to have small doses of wisdom, think again.
