• Several area carnivals were interrupted or canceled after police responded to incidents of unruly teenage behavior, gun violence and assault. One teen was shot and killed at a law enforcement-organized carnival in Wilmington.
• Philadelphia officials are expected to announce this week the creation of “navigators” to help businesses cut through the red tape required to open and operate in the city. 

• Food insecurity does not stop when school is out. At the end of 2023, the USDA reported food insecurity rose in New Jersey from 7.4% of the population to 8.8%. As such, the Garden State is kicking off a new program next month for children and families enrolled in free or reduced-price school meals programs.
