A day out of the office to play, cook, clean, paint-ball, climb ropes will not actually do a lot towards truly deepening and building a lasting quality sense of team; especially if there is conflict. You need to dive deep into the underlying issues affecting the team and deal with that, not gloss over it with a work-free work-day for your employees.
In this episode we go through the 5 Team Building coaching cards in the Management Success Cards set and uptake what each card could mean for you in improving your own team building skills.
Card 1: What would a wise leader, who you admire, do to further build your team’s morale?
Card 2: How well do you know your team members? Make a chart and on it describe each of their preferred learning styles / working styles / communicating styles (in your own words).
Card 3: Do you have a work group or a team? Do you know the difference? What is one action you can put into place within the next 7 days that either reinforces the sense of team or moves the work group towards being a team?
Card 4: In the last working week, who has done an outstanding job and how did you thank them for it? Oh, you haven’t? Then what are you waiting for?
