Oh that Matt morell is he

1:00

is a national treasure. Welcome

1:02

into the Patriots Pregame which is

1:04

fueled by Duncan, It's Hardy, Mike to sew

1:06

and Paul Perrillo. As we get ready

1:09

for this one o'clock kick between the

1:11

Patriots and the Saints of New

1:13

Orleans. That's Jillette Stadium. It is a

1:15

glorious day for football in New

1:17

England. Let me tell you something, Deuce.

1:20

I'm driving in today. I woke up

1:22

this morning. I saw that temperature forty

1:25

nine degrees. I'm like, oh, I look

1:27

outside, Sun's already coming

1:29

up, Light's starting to come up. Throw

1:32

a wave to the lighthouse keeper's kid. You

1:34

know what I'm saying. This is what it's

1:36

all about, crisp autumn

1:39

football weather. Paul, you with

1:41

me.

1:43

I think the kid who's ringing the bell or what.

1:47

I know?

1:47

I was he by a lighthouse and canton on the way here.

1:49

I was invoking the perfect storm. Try

1:52

and keep up.

1:53

Okay, well, I don't want to invoke

1:55

that because doesn't everybody die in that one?

1:57

That's true,

2:00

which leads us to today's game. Before

2:04

we get the keys to the game, I just want

2:06

to know yes or no. So yes,

2:09

we are all in agree and s As Fred

2:11

Durst once said, is today a must

2:13

win for the Patriots?

2:14

Paul Perillo, Yeah, I think I think

2:16

it is. And I thought off air,

2:19

you had an interesting observation about the

2:21

early part of this Patriots season. I think we're

2:23

sitting here looking at the second must win

2:25

game and we're in week five.

2:28

It's remarkable.

2:29

But I really do think you have to win at home against

2:32

a team that you're even with.

2:34

But if you want to have vineo. But is this a different

2:36

kind of must win? Like usually in the past, I felt like must

2:38

wins are like, if you want to stay in the playoff conversation,

2:41

you got to win.

2:42

That Is that what we're.

2:43

Saying what you must for?

2:45

Yes, for different sell you he's going

2:47

to a darker place. But yes, I'm talking more in

2:49

the literal if you want to stay relevant in

2:51

the playoff race, you need to win

2:53

this game.

2:54

I don't even know. I don't think that's what Deuce

2:56

is.

2:56

No, I don't think that's what Mike is saying. Oh, I think

2:58

he's going in a different place, that darker than what I'm

3:00

talking about.

3:01

Oh, I just think to you know, I mean,

3:03

it's not an easy task. I mean to say, it's a

3:05

must win after you just lost your two defensive player

3:07

best defensive players. It's

3:10

a little bit of you know that colors

3:12

things a little bit differently. It's not like, oh, it's this is

3:14

the same team. But at this point

3:16

it feels like yeah, like you got to

3:18

win to stay in the playoff conversation. But really, at this point,

3:21

I think you just need to win to like keep

3:23

everybody on the same page, keep everybody pulling

3:25

in the same direction. I mean I went and looked.

3:27

I mean, the I think it was ninety five

3:30

was the last time that they had, you know, like a one and

3:32

four kind of start. So I

3:34

just think it's bigger than that. Like, yeah, maybe

3:36

we'll talk about playoffs a couple of you know, months

3:38

down the road, but right now, I think they just need a win to keep

3:40

everybody pulling the same direction.

3:42

This could have big implications

3:44

for the tone of this show for

3:46

the rest of the season, because Deuce

3:48

has gone from the eternal optimist

3:51

to going to a darker place. Paul,

3:53

who is the eternal realist, and

3:55

May I'm just kind of a precurative stir

3:58

things up. But we can't have

4:00

you. We can't have realism and pessimism.

4:02

That's that's because the realism tends

4:05

to be a little a little more negative.

4:06

I'm trying to be real too, though I don't think that I'm being pessimistic.

4:09

I just think that there's more to this game than when

4:11

you're.

4:11

Touching the season when you talk about

4:13

losing their two best defensive players.

4:16

Well, that's true. I mean, this is I

4:18

mean, on one hand, you have the they're a one in three

4:20

team that needs a win so that they don't go one and four,

4:23

But you also need to find some

4:25

new players who are going to have to step up out there

4:27

on that field in about you know, two and a half hours, whatever

4:29

it is, three hours, and that's

4:32

you know, it's just on one hand, you want to just talk

4:34

about them being one and three and that's who they are, but

4:36

it's like, oh yeah, but they also lost Matthew

4:38

Junon and Christian Gonzalez, who were two

4:41

of the only players on defense that were really making

4:43

plays thus far into the season. So you

4:45

know what, even if they win today,

4:48

what does this defense look like without those two

4:50

guys? You know, what does it look like going forward? What

4:52

are they able to find that they can build off of today?

4:54

Or you know, are they are they going to struggle

4:56

to find someone to step up as jac Jackson ready to

4:59

just well it was just I.

5:00

Said they found j. C. Jackson tough

5:02

getting him from the Chargers. Oh wait

5:04

a second, he wouldn't even lace up his shoes. Yeah,

5:07

for his last game. That's so that was

5:09

probably morning.

5:11

Yeah.

5:11

I mean it's just like another example of

5:13

teams that just want guys out of their building and

5:16

I'll take them, you know. And everybody

5:18

made a big deal of the pay, Like for the

5:20

charges, it was the same matter of fact, they saved

5:23

one point five to five million, because

5:25

if if they just released them then they were gonna

5:27

have to pay them all that money anyway, you know, so

5:29

a little bit they they just wanted to pay to get him

5:31

out of the buildings.

5:32

He cart was he guarantee, He's guaranteed.

5:34

The full mind just for that uh, just for

5:36

this season.

5:36

There's no guarantee money moving forward.

5:38

So for the Patriots it was it was a good move because

5:40

you don't have to pay much of that salary and there's nothing

5:42

guaranteed going forward. But to

5:45

you know, to my point, I mean, that was the worst

5:47

part of the game last week. You know, for as badly

5:49

as they played, you could sort of say, well, you

5:52

know, I've seen Mac Jones play and I haven't seen him play

5:54

too many games that looked like that, Okay, so I can

5:56

I could say, well, that was a really bad, bad

5:59

week at the office for Mac Jones and the Patriots,

6:01

So you could, I think safely

6:04

assume that they could play better than that, But

6:07

you can't get those two guys back. And this

6:09

is what's happening around the league now, you know, like I'm

6:11

just watching a little with a London game. You know,

6:13

Matt Mlono looks like he's down with a serious

6:15

injury. You know, the best

6:17

players on all of the teams are starting

6:20

to go down, and it's just a you know, like we've

6:22

already talked about Baltimore and what they've been dealing

6:24

with, you know, playing games literally with

6:26

seven frontline starting

6:28

players on the inactive list two weeks ago in

6:31

the game against the Colts. That's

6:33

why I think you're in the situation where this

6:35

is a must win, because I don't know if you have

6:38

the horses to climb out of this hole that

6:40

you might if you were at full strength. So I

6:43

understand where Mike's coming from. He's a little bit looking

6:45

at it from a different way than I was talking

6:48

about Hardy, But I think we arrive in

6:50

the same place. If you want to be a

6:52

player in the mix, you have to

6:54

win today.

6:55

I don't want to be a player. No more, I'm

6:58

not a player. I just crush a lot, all

7:00

right? Shall we do the keys to the

7:02

game? Did you leave the keys up

7:04

on the table you.

7:05

Wanted to You've waited all week

7:07

for it.

7:07

The whole tea's in the locker room right now, just listening to this,

7:10

waiting to hear what you're gonna say.

7:11

Without these keys, the Patriots are destined

7:13

and doomed to fail.

7:15

Here are Hardy, Paul, Mike, and Tamayor's

7:17

keys to the game.

7:18

Why did I steal your key to the game? Also

7:22

keys to the game. Without these keys,

7:24

Patriots doomed to fail today

7:26

against the Saints of New Orleans. That's

7:28

why they have us on in the locker room. They're listening.

7:31

Mike. You so the current key holder, key

7:33

master, and well

7:35

done. Last week they followed your key to the

7:37

letter and got the big win over the Cowboys in Dallas,

7:40

so that.

7:42

We award it before. I don't think it has anything to do with the

7:44

results.

7:44

What was your key last week? Did it? Did it factor

7:47

into that game at all?

7:48

I think it was stn't lose by thirty five?

7:50

Who remembers? This doesn't matter?

7:53

All right?

7:53

So Deuce is the current key holder. You

7:55

get to choose who goes first.

7:57

All right, let's the pulp, let's pul break

7:59

the eye here.

8:00

Well, I'm just gonna, you know, be honest

8:02

and upfront, Hardy. I thought you were robbed

8:05

of the key last week. I thought, by far

8:07

and away you had the best key. So I am now

8:10

going to conduct the rest of the season under protesting. I'm

8:12

no longer going to put an effort into these. So

8:15

I my my, My key, in all

8:17

seriousness, is pretty simple. It's something that

8:20

you know. I'm not telling you you can win the Super Bowl if you

8:22

do this or whatever, but you got to start

8:25

playing to Mario Douglas on a more regular

8:27

basis. And I just feel like this offense

8:30

is starving for somebody to make

8:32

a play. And I don't care that it was a broken

8:34

play. I don't care that maybe he didn't run the route

8:36

exactly the way he was supposed to run it.

8:39

He made a play that I don't think anybody

8:41

else on the offense is capable of doing.

8:43

I want to see more of those.

8:44

I want to see him on the field, and I want to see him

8:47

have more opportunities to make plays. Just get

8:49

Douglas involved. It's a simple one. But

8:51

when I it's what, I really believe him.

8:53

No, I think I think it's phenomenal, and

8:55

I think it's it's one of the you know,

8:57

the potential bright spots on this offense

9:00

right now that he's been underutilized,

9:02

and maybe allow him to make

9:04

some mistakes and not sit him out for the rest

9:06

of the game and only put him in on punt returns

9:09

things like that. I mean, let's let's

9:11

see if we can get something going there with Douglas.

9:13

I think it's an outstanding key. It

9:16

is awarded a score of four point eight.

9:19

It's pretty good.

9:20

It's zero to twenty two low score

9:22

wins. Four point eight is a really

9:25

really strong score. All

9:27

right, who's up next?

9:28

To go ahead? Hardy? I'll let myself

9:30

go last.

9:31

Well, you know, they are the Saints of New

9:33

Orleans today, oh God, And we've seen

9:35

some we've seen some

9:37

New Orleans pass rushers

9:40

get a little bit of work done earlier on in this season.

9:43

And we know that that Mac does not do well

9:46

against pressures. So I will

9:48

say, don't let the cat, don't

9:50

let the New Orleans pass rushers

9:52

get by. You don't

9:56

let this Cage

9:58

job cooking. You

10:01

see what I'm doing b

10:04

a y oh you? But

10:06

by you it works on two

10:08

levels. That's my key.

10:10

I mean when I saw it, I knew going

10:13

up against the Saints of Louis and I knew we were

10:15

in for it today with some.

10:16

By you jokes.

10:16

But I credit to you. That's a great one.

10:19

I got a straight four point oh wow.

10:22

I think it's pretty much four point oh two

10:25

that the you know, use of how it all came

10:27

together with by you and everything, and it makes sense

10:29

and it makes for the game. It makes total absolutely,

10:32

let Cameron Jordan go by you offensive

10:34

line.

10:34

Get it done today, guys, we're talking

10:37

about a must win and Week five online

10:39

has to show up. I don't know

10:41

if you can run block, you better pass

10:44

protect, especially if we're gonna get to Paul's key

10:46

of getting Douglas involved. So let's go. Don't

10:48

let the pass rushers get by.

10:51

You, Cage,

10:53

I don't cook right after rising

10:55

to five if he keeps saying.

10:57

Okay,

11:00

puppet it do we want to take care of

11:02

Tamara's key. She's not here, she's doing

11:04

drone work and.

11:05

No one really knows what this means though, Be like Dory.

11:07

I think we know.

11:08

Oh, okay, just keep swimming,

11:11

Just keep swimming.

11:12

Sure, okay, that's a good one. I was also thinking, doesn't

11:14

Dorry have no memory? Though, doesn't Dorry can't remember anything?

11:16

So maybe having my god.

11:18

It's her score

11:20

is in eighteen.

11:23

Zero.

11:25

I honestly don't know what the that

11:28

just did you talk?

11:29

Because no, no, no, I was just kind of guessing. But I

11:31

like your theory. Yeah, but I like, just keep swimming

11:33

too.

11:34

Like there's no New Orleans tie in, there's no

11:36

Saints tie in. It's a it's an

11:38

animated movie reference through eighteen

11:40

point nine. It's one of the lowest scores ever for

11:43

the game.

11:43

If Dorry was a catfish, maybe that would have,

11:45

you know, some kind of connection to the.

11:47

South something anything.

11:48

Nah, all right, really, you

11:51

guys impressed me. You guys really give this some thought

11:53

to what this puzzlely could be.

11:55

Yeah, well, but but I'm all done.

11:56

Okay, So dude, see that movie too.

11:58

In order to retain the key, you need

12:00

to be to score of four point Oh what is your team

12:02

of this game?

12:03

I don't know if I'm gonna retain the key today, but but my

12:05

key is break the cycle. And it's just like

12:07

the Stained album, yeah exactly. I

12:10

don't know. Yeah, I'm just sick of watching

12:12

the same game. I'm sick of watching the same game over and

12:14

over where they fall into a hole and

12:16

you know, they they maybe make a little bit of a push at

12:18

the end, but it's never quite enough. And you know,

12:20

similar to the last time the Saints were here, they

12:23

made a little bit of a push, they just needed to stop

12:25

in a one score game, they couldn't even get that stop.

12:27

So I'm just kind of sick of watching the same game

12:29

over and over again. So I just want to say, let's break

12:31

the cycle. Whether that's a good start,

12:33

whether it's no turnovers, whether it's we force

12:36

a couple of turnovers. You know, we've just been

12:38

kind of watching the same game a lot often on the

12:40

last couple of years, and I just I don't I'd love to

12:42

not see that game again, whatever.

12:44

It might be.

12:45

I want to see a Patriots win, of course, but I

12:48

just don't want to see the same old

12:50

fall into a hole, try to scrap back. Maybe

12:52

the other team makes some mistakes and you know,

12:54

just against the Saints team, like going into a game where

12:56

you you know, you must win. It's one thing when it was the Jets

12:58

and you knew you had Zach Wilson, and it was like, all right, let's

13:01

just wait and he'll probably give the game to us.

13:03

It didn't exactly unfold that way. But I

13:05

think the Saints are a good team. They got a lot

13:07

of talent on the offensive side of the ball.

13:09

It hasn't quite clicked completely yet for them. Derek

13:11

Carr has been hurt, but they've got some

13:13

talented veterans on defense that are

13:16

not going to be pushovers to this Patriots offense. I

13:18

don't think this Saints defense is going to

13:20

give this game to the Patriots. They're gonna have to go out

13:22

there and earn it. So I think if they do go out there

13:24

and earn it, that will break the cycle. But but that's my key.

13:26

Just break the cycle. Let's let's be done with these games

13:28

that we've seen off and on for the last three

13:30

years.

13:32

Why you just give me the key?

13:33

All right?

13:33

I mean it's I mean, I give it like a seven.

13:35

Maybe that's good, that's I don't know, what do you think do you want

13:37

to I'm not I thought you you just give

13:39

out the No, No, it's a. It's a

13:42

consortium panels.

13:44

Yeah, Switch seven.

13:46

It wasn't terrible.

13:47

It wasn't terrible.

13:47

It's not as good as yours, but.

13:49

Well, I mean that's that's

13:51

a high.

13:51

But it's not as good. It's certainly not like

13:53

you Hardy.

13:54

You got to just take it. Do we have a ceremonial

13:56

theme to play for him as we congratulations?

13:58

Put it over his head?

13:59

There needs songs about keys, songs

14:02

in the key.

14:02

Of that table.

14:04

Yeah, I mean it could

14:06

have something to do with Stevie Wonder. I don't know,

14:08

next songs in the next one. That's

14:11

what I just said.

14:12

We would not paying attention with what

14:15

was the question this week? By the way, I don't think I

14:17

caught it?

14:18

Oh heardy music question? Yeah?

14:19

Oh? Who else

14:21

would put out a really good show in

14:23

the Sphere in Las Vegas? You two

14:26

is doing this phenomenal show. We've all seen the videos.

14:28

So what other band would put on this amazing

14:31

audio visual feast

14:34

at the Sphere in Las Vegas?

14:39

I I have one and that you don't

14:42

want to get too far into the weeds with this, especially

14:44

since Larry Holder from the Athletic is on the

14:46

line. But we'll you know, what. Yeah, we'll do it while

14:48

Paul's out of the room doing his chin wag with the sports.

14:52

We'll get to that.

14:52

Later because I don't have any any good

14:54

uh earth Wind and Fire.

14:56

No I'm not.

14:57

I just said I don't have any good ones that would be a phenomenal.

15:01

Can we go behind enemy lines?

15:02

Please?

15:03

You know the view from New England?

15:05

We go behind enemy lines?

15:06

But what about the view from the other side?

15:08

And that's why you're a favorite pregame show

15:10

guest every year.

15:12

You know, you tell everybody that I

15:15

was all with you guys.

15:15

It's twenty eighteen Thursday Night football.

15:17

Yeah I was quote, I was the favorite guest of the

15:19

show.

15:20

No time now to go behind

15:22

enemy lines? My god, it's.

15:26

Here, he is.

15:28

Oh, there we go. I have to press the red button.

15:30

Joining us now from the Athletic

15:32

Larry Holder, Senior NFL rid at

15:35

Larry Holder on x formerly known

15:37

as Twitter, Joining us now,

15:39

Larry, thanks for taking the time this morning. How are

15:42

you?

15:43

I'm good?

15:43

How are you guys?

15:44

We're fired out right. You know, it's nice

15:47

weather today. Beyond that things are

15:49

sketchy, but it's a beautiful

15:51

day here in New England.

15:53

I'd say the same thing about the Saints

15:55

too, So it's

15:58

really kind of a side

16:00

of like the Saints really wanting to make a

16:02

quarterback change potentially.

16:04

I feel like both teams are pretty eerily

16:07

similar and that they've got question

16:10

marks all over the map here.

16:11

Yeah, along those lines, there is just you know, what's going

16:13

on with Derek Carr's shoulder, and you know, why, why

16:15

does this offense you guys got a bunch of weapons. Why

16:18

haven't been able to get things going yet?

16:21

I really think it's a combination of

16:23

factors. And it goes

16:26

beyond Derek Carr being injured,

16:29

because he hasn't been injured all year. I mean, he got

16:31

hurt in the third quarter against the Packers,

16:33

and it's not like the offense was really totally

16:36

rolling in the first place.

16:38

Like actually, in the first half of the Packers

16:41

game is the first time the Saints offense

16:43

actually looked in sync. And then, of course

16:45

in the third quarter he gets hurt, and so

16:48

you know, look, it's whether you look

16:50

at Car trying to

16:52

get acclimated, the Saints offensive

16:54

line being a little leaky,

16:57

the Saints are trying to work out in Kamara

17:00

of things. His first game back was

17:02

last week after being suspended for three

17:04

games, whether it's inconsistencies

17:07

with the play calling or game planning

17:10

with Pete Carmichael, the offensive coordinator.

17:12

You know, I think you add it all up and

17:15

it's really just and

17:18

he's really just been a

17:20

work progress and it's almost

17:22

seeming like after last week the

17:25

work is going backwards with

17:27

with car being injured in the offense just really

17:29

being amount.

17:31

You know, Larry, I wanted to talk to you a little bit about the defense

17:34

and particularly upfront the

17:36

pass rush New Orleans is you know, like I know the

17:39

last several years that they've been really strong

17:41

upfront and been able to get after the passer. Doesn't

17:43

seem like they've had much success over the first

17:45

month. Cameron Jordan's a guy Bill Belichick

17:48

raves about, you know, on how consistent

17:50

he's been on the edge. I just wanted to get your

17:52

thoughts on the pass rush from New Orleans and if

17:55

you think that they have potential to

17:57

improve in that area that's obviously been a huge

17:59

problem for the Patriots. Protecting

18:01

Mac Jones.

18:03

Yeah, slowed down in the last

18:05

couple of weeks. It was it was okay

18:09

at the very start of the season, but has

18:11

slowed down. Look, Cam Jordan is someone that

18:14

you're arguing that he's got Hall of Fame credentials,

18:18

but look, he's certainly look

18:21

at the back end of his career, and so you're looking

18:24

for the front four to produce,

18:27

and you know, you have Carl Granderson

18:29

at the opposite edge. You know,

18:31

you know Brian Brazy, their first round

18:33

pick at defensive tackle. He's actually done

18:35

a pretty good job of being able

18:37

to create that. But

18:39

but look, it's certainly something that

18:42

for this defense to be successful,

18:44

they need to be.

18:45

Able to do that.

18:46

And you know, I know

18:48

that the Patriots offensive line has been a little

18:50

bit banged up as well, and so you

18:52

know, this could be a game where where they

18:54

created the same secondary. Look,

18:56

that's typically a strength

18:59

of this thing team. So I'm wondering

19:01

if you're gonna maybe see some

19:04

some blitzing from the

19:06

Saints a little bit more, not lean on that

19:08

front floor. You know, maybe send

19:11

to Mario Davis in there on a blitz or Pete

19:13

Werner and things like that. So yeah, I

19:15

think that the Saints, look in

19:17

general, they need to lean on their defense because

19:19

the offense has been so

19:22

so sluggish and so this. It

19:24

shouldn't be a surpriso because

19:27

we knew the Saints offense wouldn't wasn't going to be

19:29

spectacular to start, but it's been even

19:31

worse than it has been. So the Saints really need

19:33

to create some takeaways, starting with

19:35

that pass or Usshia and do some

19:37

problems with mac Jones.

19:38

Larry Holder from the Athletic is with us, Larry

19:41

sticking with the Saints defense here for a minute, I

19:44

heard an interesting stat regarding third

19:46

down situations that the Saints defense

19:48

has faced, and it requires

19:50

a team to be in third and short, which

19:53

I don't know that the Patriots are going to be a lot in a

19:55

lot of third and short situations today, but

19:57

if that what what I'm just saying, If

20:00

they are, teams have had a lot

20:02

more success running the ball supposed

20:04

to passing the ball. And you already talked about the pass rush.

20:07

Is there any kind of an issue with the Saints run defense

20:09

right now?

20:11

Well, that was a big point of emphasis in the

20:13

offseason because their run defense, especially

20:16

towards the end of last season, was bad, like

20:18

really bad, and they made some

20:21

whole self changes along the

20:23

front, and it seemed like that

20:25

the Saints were starting to be able to kind

20:28

of fix that problem. But yeah, like that's

20:30

something that if there was a weakness

20:32

within the defense, it would be the

20:34

run defense. So I think that's something that I

20:37

know the Patriots they haven't exactly run

20:39

the football excellent this

20:41

year, and that's something that if

20:43

there's a time for maybe the Patriots

20:45

to kind of get right in that spot, it would

20:47

be bad because, yeah, if you want to attack the scene,

20:50

you don't want to necessarily try to do it through

20:52

the air, but running the football. So

20:55

yeah, if there's a thing like if they can grind

20:57

out some drive Patriots

21:00

put points on the board, and being able to do that converted

21:03

third and short, you know, that would put

21:05

certainly more pressure on the Saints offense that hasn't

21:07

been great. So yeah, I think that's a that's

21:09

certainly kind of a sneaky key that

21:12

will probably be a good telling

21:14

point and who wins this game.

21:16

Larry, what's your outlook for the Saints offensive

21:18

line today? I know you guys had a little bit a little

21:20

bit of injury issues there last week.

21:25

Yeah, well, you look at just

21:27

kind of their overall play and just

21:29

with what they have, I know, look they certainly

21:32

had some some injury issues with Caesar

21:34

Luis concussions and James

21:37

Hurst being added late to the Innier report. And so

21:39

yeah, when you when you look at it in that sense, you

21:42

know, it's already been a bit of work in progress.

21:44

You expect that unit to be a little bit better than what

21:46

it has been over the years. But so yeah, it's

21:48

uh, you know, the regardless

21:51

of kind of who's in and who's out, it hasn't

21:53

mattered because they've underperformed.

21:55

And so I think that's something that you

21:58

know, you wonder,

22:00

all right, the pass pressure, you

22:03

know, can the Patriots create more

22:05

of that even with the Judo on being out?

22:08

You know, is that possible? So

22:10

yeah, I think that's something that the

22:13

Saints. That's an unexpected

22:15

flaw. I guess maybe within the Saints

22:17

you would expect that y've been better regardless

22:19

of who's there who's not.

22:21

Do you think that they have the potential, you

22:23

know, just on that side of the ball in particular, you

22:25

know, Mike had brought up the weapons,

22:28

you know, with Elave and Thomas and then Shaheed

22:30

sort of you know, being a big play guy. It would

22:32

seem the pieces are in place. To be better. Do

22:34

you think that they potentially can get

22:36

better on offense?

22:39

I think they can. Yeah, I'm with you.

22:41

I think that's why it's a little bit fuddling. You

22:43

feel like you have the pieces there and

22:46

now Kamara is back for week

22:48

two of off of being suspended,

22:51

So can you make that happen? I

22:53

think that's the thing, Like, is Michael Thomas the same

22:55

Michael Thomas?

22:56

No, but is he.

22:57

Viable yes, Crystal

23:00

Live be able to be a big time

23:02

target, and then Rashid Yahid maybe

23:04

a deep threat yes, And

23:07

so you're wondering, is this a da I mean, David

23:09

Carr, is this it Derek Carr thing? Or

23:12

is this play calling thing with he Carmichael?

23:15

And then you know the Saints always

23:17

so always have Taystom Hill, that jack

23:19

of all trades guy, So you know, you go, that

23:21

makes like this offense should be better.

23:24

I think that's that's really got people

23:26

in New Orleans frustrated right now.

23:28

Well, Larry, we always ask

23:30

our guests to give us a score prediction. I don't

23:32

know if you've done one yet, but you know

23:35

we're not gonna hold you to it. Just give

23:37

us an idea. How does this game, work out who wins

23:39

and what's the final low

23:42

scoring.

23:43

Considering the offenses that are playing, I

23:46

think the Saints can do just enough.

23:48

I think Saints.

23:49

Seventeen Patriots fourteen.

23:52

It wouldn't shock me if it's flipped the other way.

23:55

But still I think the Saints

23:58

they can do just enough to kind of

24:00

get onto.

24:00

There with a win.

24:01

All right, Larry Holder from the Athletic at Larry

24:03

Holder on Twitter, where you appreciate the time. Thanks Larry.

24:06

All right, thanks guys, appreciate it.

24:08

Thank you, Larry.

24:08

There we go.

24:09

Yeah, this is going to be another one,

24:11

just like the last time we had a

24:14

must win with the Jets and everybody who

24:16

was like seventeen thirteen, fourteen,

24:19

So you know, I think sixteen. The vast

24:22

majority of the predictions of this game

24:24

are going to be very similar to the one Larry.

24:26

Just gave us. Not a lot in the twenties.

24:28

No, I just unless it's a turnover

24:30

fest, you know, one team turns the ball over a

24:32

lot and then the points can go up.

24:34

Yeah. Yeah, I just

24:36

keep hoping against hope that they're going to find something

24:39

offensively. Maybe they pay attention to your key,

24:41

Paul and get Douglas involved. Maybe maybe

24:43

Matt finds some rhythm with Hunter

24:45

Henry and they can connect multiple times and get

24:47

the ball downfield. I'm not talking about for I'm

24:50

not talking about for, you know, for the damn to finally

24:52

the damn gates to be let wide open.

24:54

But I don't know. Is it. Am I out

24:56

of line and asking for three touchdowns

24:58

from a team over the course of four quarters. You

25:00

shouldn't be And that's been a while.

25:02

That's been a minute. It's been a minute. All right, let's

25:05

go to the phones here. We'll start with Pat Naguam

25:07

eight five five. Pat's five hundred

25:10

emails too, web radio at Patriots dot

25:12

com. Pat uh here in the parking

25:14

lot. You're partying out.

25:15

There, kids.

25:19

Hey, Pat,

25:22

turn your internet down.

25:24

Turn your Internet down. I'm

25:26

placing him on hold. He will come back.

25:29

He'll come back, and I

25:31

don't know that he was pretty far behind.

25:33

Actually, we might have to go to Floyd

25:35

in Michigan first. Floyd will

25:37

be ready. Floyd, thanks for hanging. Welcome

25:40

into the Patriots pregame show fueled by Duncan.

25:42

What's up, Floyd?

25:45

Good morning? I have four

25:48

yes or no question?

25:51

Love it?

25:51

Get yes or No, we'll go one at a

25:53

time, and if we can hustle the one, I have

25:56

a fifth bony. Okay, first question,

25:59

are we starting to see Bill Belichick get

26:01

out coached?

26:03

Yes?

26:04

Yes, So the way I've

26:07

been looking at that, Floyd is I still think Belichick

26:09

is an excellent coach. I think we all agree, but like, when

26:11

was the last time that you opened one of these

26:13

games with a game plan that really caught the other

26:16

team off guard? Like, especially against

26:18

good teams, you know, when was the last time they

26:20

came out of a first quarter with the lead.

26:21

He's definitely been out personneled. But and let's

26:24

no doubt about that, it's not the first time in his career

26:26

he's been out coached. He's been out coached before. And

26:29

yes, we've seen it this year. That's an easy yes.

26:31

Fine, Will Bill Belichick

26:33

be back next year?

26:35

I need more information on that.

26:37

I still say yes. But it's we're four games

26:39

into the season.

26:40

So right, and you know we're talking about what happens

26:42

if they lose today, and Mike you brought up

26:44

you know, just mentality. You know,

26:46

Mac Jones under a lot of pressure today to play well.

26:49

I'll give you an answer to go the other way if they

26:51

if they start losing and they go, you know, they

26:53

win five or six games, I'll give you and I think there's

26:56

a chance he's not back.

26:56

Okay, my answer

26:59

is I don't know. If they lose today, my answer

27:01

is no, he's not back next year.

27:03

Oh wow, did the Carolina

27:05

Panthers move up and draft the wrong quarterback?

27:09

That's way too early to say. Yeah, I

27:11

have no idea. They played four

27:13

games.

27:15

Will Justin Fields be back next.

27:16

Year in Chicago?

27:19

Yes?

27:20

Yes, yes, my guess is My guess is yes,

27:22

yes, yeah, final win.

27:24

Bonus question.

27:25

I like them.

27:27

Success, the early success

27:29

of Demico Ryant formal

27:32

decordinator the forty nine ers. Does

27:34

that give you any different thought

27:37

process of Girard Mao

27:39

possibly taking over a head coach.

27:41

Of the Patriots, Well,

27:44

there's been some discussion of that in recent weeks.

27:46

Do we really want another defensively

27:48

minded head coach to take this team

27:50

over? I think

27:53

Girard is a really good UH

27:55

has a really good football mind. I don't

27:57

know that it is limited just to defense,

28:00

So I would still have no problem

28:02

at this point with Drod taking over. What's

28:05

and what's happened recently with

28:07

other coaching successes.

28:09

Doesn't change my mind on that.

28:11

No, not not me either. I mean it's

28:13

just it's it's different. I mean to Rod's just so entrenched

28:15

here and it's involved in so much that New England

28:18

did. I mean, it's you know, been a great star for Demiko

28:20

Ryans. But again, four games and we

28:22

we'll see.

28:22

Yeah, it doesn't. Yeah, I I

28:25

wanted to. Yeah,

28:28

I want an offensive guy. It hasn't changed.

28:30

Okay, all right, good enough,

28:33

thanks foryd, No bonus, No,

28:35

that was it.

28:36

He said he was he was gonna have five on it if

28:38

we had time, and he did. Now

28:40

we'll see if Patt Naguam is ready to

28:42

go. He will take him off hold and see if

28:44

he's checking with the party ready to go? Pat?

28:47

How about now?

28:49

What's going on?

28:50

Guy there is?

28:50

Yeah? What you eat?

28:53

Tips?

28:53

Hey?

28:55

You got the full cousin Patty spears today?

28:57

Man, I'm Killgates. I'm here at the game

29:01

feeling good knight.

29:04

Okay, the experience feels the same to

29:06

us so far.

29:10

So here's my big question today.

29:13

Do we have the dog to deal with

29:15

the Saints wide receivers today? And

29:20

I don't know, Like, uh, I'm

29:22

hoping I'm hoping Johnson Jones comes back

29:24

today and and and they're good to go.

29:26

Yeah, that's big. Yeah, he needs he

29:28

needs to be back today, like.

29:30

Paul, Like, like Paul said during the week,

29:32

like I'm not I'm not really heading my

29:34

bets on jac Jackson. But what

29:37

do you guys think, I mean, no.

29:39

They need john I think you're right, Patty, they

29:41

need Jonathan Jones back and performing

29:43

reasonably well. I mean with Al Gonzales,

29:45

you know, they need they need

29:48

some healthy bodies to to make

29:50

sure it's not all Sean Wade and Miles

29:52

Bryant.

29:52

Yeah, pat

29:55

have a good time, enjoy the game, Buddy.

29:56

Sounds like he already is. Yeah, he's all right.

29:59

I'm I'm very It's amazing though, the

30:01

broad range of like what you could have at Patriots

30:03

cornerback this week, Like it sounded like Bill was saying,

30:05

maybe Jonathan Jones has turned a corner. We don't really

30:07

know what j C. Jackson. We wasn't on the injury

30:09

report. You know, you could

30:11

have those two guys out there.

30:14

He was. They don't want him

30:16

playing, The Chargers didn't want him on the field.

30:18

There's a difference.

30:20

No, I'm just saying, yeah, never mind.

30:22

I'm just saying it's not a health related

30:25

thing. That the reason why he's a patriot right now. That's

30:27

that's all I'm saying.

30:28

No, I'm not either. We'll talk off

30:30

air.

30:31

Wow, I

30:34

think we might want to redo his his

30:36

his rankings, rankings might be higher than we

30:38

originally give a credit more. Initially

30:40

I thought it was just okay, but not like they gets

30:43

better.

30:43

You could go from Jackson and Jones to Wade

30:46

and Bryant. You don't, you don't really know, and against

30:48

these against these guys you know so

30:50

good?

30:52

Eleven thirty right, we'll find out whoa

30:56

oh, fifteen minutes. All right, deuce,

30:59

this is what happens when I'm down in my dungeon. No one

31:01

shares any of the stuff with me

31:02

in the pre show

31:04

meetings next.

31:05

To one of the You're right down there with the big bosses,

31:08

aren't you? Who would that be?

31:09

Now?

31:10

Isn't isn't Matt down there?

31:11

Well, Matt and I are down and a little dungeon by ourself.

31:14

Okay, all the all the action, the action

31:16

is the juice. It's all upstairs right right?

31:18

Uh speed, what's going on? Buddy?

31:21

The action is the juice. Indeed, Gray

31:25

calls so far from mister Flo is

31:28

good.

31:28

I liked that, like sort of rapid

31:30

fire, no thought.

31:31

Not yes around the league.

31:34

You know what, you know what the key is. It's got to be a

31:36

yes or no, and none of us can answer

31:38

yes or no because we're all you know, we

31:40

all have diarrhea.

31:41

Right to not do that.

31:43

Yeah, but like in a normal interview,

31:46

it's like you would never ask a yes or no question, but

31:48

you can of us, And so we give you just

31:50

a tiny bit more boom onto the next one.

31:53

Boom, and I like a drunkstone.

31:55

Patty also that yes, redundant,

31:59

but yes, we like Patty too.

32:01

Feeling fine.

32:06

So it's a couple of teams today that are

32:08

like maybe looking to have a get right

32:10

game, And

32:12

I was trying to figure out who's more likely to

32:14

get right. It's hard

32:16

when you stack up the two teams, especially

32:19

the offenses against one another, like

32:21

they just have more talent, Like Kamara coming

32:23

back. She you

32:27

know, you look at car, you look

32:29

at Mac. Who's likely to have

32:32

again that that get right day. It's

32:35

just hard to not think it's Derek

32:37

Carr. I mean, I don't think he's he's

32:39

a great quarterback.

32:40

I think he was.

32:41

He looked good before his first injury when he's on

32:43

the Raiders, but now he's maybe

32:45

middling or worse. I don't know. It

32:48

just seems like with all that talent around him,

32:50

it's against the Patriots

32:52

now seems like an enticing prospect

32:54

to find your way.

32:56

Back, you know. Yeah.

32:58

I mean he's got to have some confidence to him. And I know he threw

33:00

the pick six that dugger last year, but he still

33:02

threw three touchdowns and was pretty clutch against

33:04

him. So I mean, he shouldn't, you know, be overwhelmed

33:06

going against this Patriots defense. He should have a pretty good

33:09

feel for him.

33:10

He's got to be feeling a little bit better based on

33:12

the injuries to suffer this past week.

33:14

So I've just been looking at some of the Twitter

33:16

stuff, some of the guys out there saying he's throwing

33:18

the ball in pregame.

33:19

Looks pretty prom Yeah, so pretty

33:22

normal.

33:22

Yeah, But I Spee. I liked your assertion

33:26

there that it's it's a get right game for either

33:28

one of these teams. And to

33:30

think that the Patriots are now a get

33:32

right team to play against, that's a

33:34

bitter pill to swallow. And you're

33:37

right, You've got two teams kind of looking and

33:40

who needs it more? Who needs

33:42

the get right game more? I say it's the Patriots.

33:44

Yeah, that's it.

33:45

And the fact that they're at home, you know, makes them a little

33:47

bit more desperate.

33:48

And those are the two things, Like, those are the two

33:50

things when I'm sitting here being like, why do I feel like the Patriots

33:53

are gonna win? That's it? I mean, really, if you stack them

33:55

up, I feel like the Saints have probably the more talent

33:57

on defense. They definitely have more talent on offense.

33:59

They've got some issues, But I just

34:01

sometimes I wonder if I'm just making that pick because

34:03

it feels like the Patriots need this game more

34:06

than the Saints do.

34:06

Right now, all right, speed appreciate

34:08

the call. Thanks buddy. Right on, let's

34:11

see it. I love the

34:13

I love to get right phrase. I love to get

34:15

right, get right, I

34:17

get right, buddy. Recently, you had one

34:19

of his one of his kids friends was over and like lipped

34:22

off a little bit. My buddy had to, you know, like yell

34:24

at this kid, and it caused this big

34:27

drama.

34:27

Oh give him strong, strongly

34:29

worded.

34:30

The next day, he hears his kid on the

34:32

phone talking to someone else, obviously

34:34

talking about what had happened, and he

34:36

heard his kids say, well, so and

34:38

so got out of line and

34:40

my dad had to put her right. Oh,

34:46

I like that.

34:48

That sounds intense.

34:49

But you know, this whole, this whole notion of

34:51

using the Patriots as your get

34:54

right upon it was the same the Jets

34:56

game.

34:57

The Patriots needed the Jets was get

35:00

right game opportunity, and the Jets felt the same

35:02

way.

35:02

Yeah, yeah, I mean, but it certainly

35:05

was for the Cowboys last week they had they

35:07

had the loss against the Cardinals, and they're like,

35:09

all right, we got to get right. Well

35:11

we can do it against these guys coming into

35:13

uh into Dallas this week. We can

35:15

get right against them. And boy

35:18

did they.

35:18

Yeah. We'll see tonight how how it plays out

35:20

for him. Excited to watch that game. That'll be good.

35:22

Oh. Has there ever

35:25

been like a bigger consensus

35:27

as to what the game of the week is than

35:30

it is this week's San Francisco

35:32

forty.

35:33

Nine ers is the game to watch this week? New

35:35

England Ne Wollans, I mean, I thought that's

35:37

what he was talking. We can agree there right, Yeah,

35:43

yeah, the that should be a good game to

35:45

watch, the Niners and Cowboys. I hope

35:48

the Dallas shows up. They rarely

35:50

do in big spots like that, but I hope it's

35:52

a it's a game worth watching later on.

35:54

All right, let's talk to DeShawn in

35:57

Virginia. DeShawn, what do you got

35:59

for us? Thanks for checking in? What's

36:01

happening?

36:02

Hello?

36:02

God?

36:03

Good good.

36:05

I'm going to say the fact that people always talking about,

36:07

you know what, Bill Bulletsack's being not coached, But that's

36:10

like the neighbor, the problem, the route, the problem

36:13

was going to be about the personnel. So

36:15

if you want to see a lot more of this stuff going on,

36:17

because the person that I'm not going to change

36:19

and don't be able to get worse too. Now that

36:21

the defense is suffering all these injuries and

36:24

that was pretty much the back ball in the team right now, So

36:26

you cossibly could see a lot more game like the

36:28

Cowboys eventually, depending on who they

36:30

face.

36:31

Yeah, no, I mean I generally

36:33

agree. I just also think that there's an element of

36:36

a well coached team does certain things and it's

36:38

prepared to play a certain way, and you know,

36:40

it's prepared not to beat, So, you know, talent

36:42

arguments aside, which I totally agree with

36:44

what he's saying. Also, just don't think that the group

36:47

they have is even playing up to the lesser

36:49

talent level that they have.

36:51

Because they haven't done all the things that you would

36:53

consider that normally well coached teams

36:55

do. You know, They've they've had some sloppy

36:57

penalties, they've had slip ups and space

37:00

teams. They've had some last week

37:02

especially, they had some trouble tackling. You know,

37:04

that's not really a talent thing. Those

37:06

those are just sort of preparation things. Now,

37:09

I agree with you one hundred percent. To Sean about their

37:11

talent, I'm sorry,

37:13

that's probably be perfect. Yeah,

37:16

yeah, absolutely, but that's to win.

37:19

Like we're just talking about playing a clean

37:21

game. You know, you're turning the.

37:23

Ball over, not losing

37:25

the game, right, Like.

37:26

Like they they're going to fall

37:28

short in a lot of weeks because the other team

37:30

has more talent, and I understand that, but

37:33

that's not like they didn't fall

37:35

short last week because they had no talent. They didn't show up like

37:38

they got thoroughly outclassed because

37:40

they couldn't do anything right. You know, the quarterback

37:42

is rolling out one way and throwing across

37:44

the field the other. And that you know, not

37:47

all turnovers are created equal. In other words, they're

37:49

they're not played that poorly you're going to turn.

37:52

The ball over and and and especially

37:54

when you start it's

37:56

a it's a really horrible thing to accuse the

37:58

team of giving up, But there are way of giving.

38:00

Up and uh, business decisions.

38:03

We saw Tom Brady do it back in the

38:05

day. It happens, you get it's

38:07

a combination of desperation and frustration

38:10

and started chucking the ball up into double coverage.

38:12

You just don't care anymore. I think you saw

38:14

a little bit of that mac from Mac last week,

38:16

and well he did

38:18

not finish the game as a result.

38:21

What's that, Oh,

38:23

there were guys open. There were guys

38:25

open last week. He

38:28

wasn't throwing it to him.

38:32

No.

38:32

I mean, I thought Greg Olsen did a great job during

38:34

the game of showing you guys that he had a chance to

38:36

throw to that he wasn't. He wasn't seeing.

38:39

Deshaun thanks to the call. We appreciate it.

38:41

I thought that was widespread just

38:43

collapse last week. I think there was a lot of blame to

38:46

go around.

38:46

We'll talk to John here, but then we really

38:48

should get more in depth on mac here on

38:50

this Patriots pregame fuel by Duncan

38:53

Saints today one o'clock. John is in Miami

38:55

Beach Romandre Stevenson.

38:57

Yes, John, team,

39:01

My leg is still propped up

39:03

from his injury last week. But you're

39:06

you're you're keeping me company

39:09

here, Okay, I'm gonna offer you a bit

39:11

of a advanced

39:13

statistics that supports one of my ideas.

39:16

Here, John refreshed my memory. How did the how

39:18

did the leg injury take place? Again? Does anybody

39:20

else remember? Anyone?

39:22

No?

39:23

I was, go ahead,

39:27

our thresher shark.

39:29

What it's a shark?

39:33

I was.

39:34

I was driving the lane,

39:39

driving the lane, all right,

39:41

driving the lane?

39:42

Okay, all right, go

39:44

on.

39:45

So remind Stevenson was number

39:48

one in yards over expected

39:50

last year, and

39:53

I'm just not seeing that kind

39:55

of performance from him this year. I don't

39:57

suspect it's anything with him. I'm,

40:00

you know, more apt to blame the

40:02

scheme or the line or whatever, because I

40:04

really enjoyed watching him last year and I think he's

40:06

an excellent player. So just want your opinion

40:08

on what you think his kind of declining

40:11

performances related to.

40:12

Well, my initial thought is I give no thought

40:14

too yards over expected expected

40:17

by who expect. I'm not picking on you,

40:19

John, but yeah, seriously, I mean we're

40:22

if we're going to start talking about metrics

40:25

of that kind, then it just count

40:27

me out.

40:27

I used to call back guys that break tackles.

40:30

Yeah, I mean I think it is a lot on the

40:32

offensive line too. I mean, I don't think Stevenson's

40:34

absolved of all blame, but I just there's

40:36

offensive line can't get to the second

40:39

level and block guys. I mean that's where the big runs

40:41

happen. And I mean I struggled

40:43

to think how many yards rushes over ten yards

40:45

they've had this year. Maybe a handful. I

40:47

mean, it's just I think a lot of that is the offensive

40:49

line trying to get out to those second level blocks, and you

40:52

know, and some of it's on Stevenson. I think sometimes he's been

40:54

a little bit indecisive, and you know, I

40:56

think even he's admitted that. But

40:59

it also he's got a thigh injury now, and

41:02

I know he from you know, people saying to practice,

41:04

he doesn't look one hundred percent. So it's like again,

41:06

it's hard to have all these expectations when jude

41:09

On and Gonzalza out, Stevens is gonna

41:11

be banged up. Is today going to be his get right game? I

41:13

don't know. Is it gonna be all Ezekiel

41:16

Elliott, is time Montgomery gonna get a chance? If Stevenson

41:18

can have a lot of carries today, I don't know.

41:20

It's just high expectations for something

41:22

that might not happen because he's just simply banged up

41:24

today.

41:26

Do they need that today, Paul? I mean, or

41:29

are they Are they gonna be okay? And

41:31

are they gonna be able to get something

41:34

done without a big performance from

41:36

Romandra? I?

41:37

Well, I think they need to run the ball

41:39

better. And I think that's what they're you know, you talk about

41:41

like their identity and what they want to do and how they want

41:43

to play, like they want to run the ball and throw when

41:45

they they want to or not because they

41:47

have to. And they really haven't been able

41:49

to run the ball effectively all year. Even

41:52

the best game they had, they couldn't run

41:54

the ball when they had to in the fourth quarter yep,

41:56

you know against New York and the one wins. So yeah,

41:58

I think they do need it hardy. I think that would be that

42:00

will go a long way to get the offense going.

42:02

All right, Nick, baby love joining us now

42:05

in the Patriots pregame show, feel by duncan

42:07

Nick, how you doing.

42:10

I'm as I told Matt and always

42:12

a shout out to him, great engineer

42:15

like Kevin was. Look

42:18

at you know the show is still

42:20

excellent despite look

42:22

at this is our team. You know. I love him

42:25

and I had to say something special today

42:27

because today is uh. It's

42:30

been a tough couple of days for mister Kraft.

42:32

So let's send all our love to

42:34

him. We know he's

42:36

brought football to Israel and whatnot,

42:38

and we pray for everybody in Israel. I

42:42

don't want to get emotional, but hey,

42:44

mister Kraft, we love you, brother, and

42:47

I love you guys.

42:48

Have a great day, appreciate it. Thanks, thanks.

42:52

Well.

42:53

We are what Yes, Watching the news here the

42:55

last couple of days, it's uh, and

42:58

it puts everything in perspective in terms of what

43:00

other people in the world are going through right now. So

43:04

in terms of this game today

43:07

and focusing in on Saints

43:10

Patriots, you

43:12

have an opportunity here

43:15

too. I think if not turn things

43:17

around, extend and give

43:19

life to a season, or

43:22

you can and this this is

43:25

again remarkable to me, essentially

43:28

shut the valve off on the interest of a

43:30

lot of casual fans, uh

43:32

in terms of how the season is going to go. If

43:35

for no other reason one and four one

43:37

in four? What am I doing? What am I doing? And

43:39

even with the win next week against Vegas,

43:41

who do you have on the schedule after that? You

43:44

got Buffalo, you got Miami. I

43:46

don't think anybody is looking at those as real gettable

43:48

games right now. So this is not

43:51

only an extension of your season, it's an

43:53

it's an extension of the interest level that

43:55

that people. And then and casual

43:57

fans, we're gonna be here every week, real hatreds

44:00

fans are gonna watch to the bitter end, and

44:02

they're gonna they're gonna, you know, take things away,

44:04

even in losses that can be considered

44:07

good, but just

44:09

for the overall picture, you know, speaking

44:11

for you know, Joe, everyman out there,

44:14

they got to win this thing today.

44:16

Yeah, in the next couple And I mean you make a great

44:18

point about, you know too defining games

44:20

against Buffalo and Miami, and that's gonna tell

44:22

you exactly where you're stacking up here as we get

44:24

into October, which is always the time of year where

44:27

usually they say this is about the time where you figure out

44:29

what you have.

44:29

So, but what a difference that would make to go into

44:31

those Buffalo in Miami games that three.

44:33

And three,

44:36

you get some confidence, you find a stride, you find

44:38

some things that are working, and maybe you say, hey,

44:40

maybe we have a puncher's chance today going into Buffalo.

44:43

If they lose this game in the next one and and

44:45

you know you've lost too straight.

44:46

And it's either one they win them both, we're

44:48

gonna everything that we're gonna say today, we're gonna say

44:50

again next week, even if they win today. So

44:54

they have to win both.

44:56

It will depend on how they win it

44:59

will it will, and on how they win and how

45:01

and how they look if it if

45:04

it looks like they've they've got something

45:07

going and you know, they've

45:09

been able to create a spark offensively,

45:12

I think it will be more important

45:14

for them to keep that going and get a win. If they

45:16

slide backwards into a ten to seven

45:18

win today.

45:21

See, I just don't know, I know, I know,

45:23

I know exactly what you're saying, and that's not gonna be my break

45:25

the cycle key, that's gonna be another version

45:28

of you know how they get wins against.

45:29

They could win today and not and

45:32

and actually fail your key test.

45:34

Right.

45:34

But but what I like about this matchup is

45:36

that I think New Orleans has enough talent and they're

45:38

a well enough coached and good enough team that

45:41

I don't expect that New Orleans is just

45:43

gonna you know, hurt themselves

45:45

and lose the game themselves, and we're going to come in here

45:47

and say, yeah, the Patriots won. But man,

45:50

Derek Carr was terried, I really don't think that's gonna

45:52

happen. Course it's possible, but

45:54

just with the injuries that they've had on defense, that's just

45:56

what's so intriguing to me, And just that storyline

45:59

of who's up, Like I mean, all off season

46:01

when we talked about Jude On, I'm like, what happens if they

46:03

lose Judeon like they I mean, is

46:06

what is He's you know, a third down pass rusher.

46:08

Anthony Jennings I think was good this summer,

46:10

but they just they do not have that complimentary

46:13

piece off the edge that can do it all.

46:15

And so it's gonna become more of a wholesale

46:17

change between early downs and lake downs. And

46:20

you know where where can the Trey Flowers ain't coming

46:22

back today, So they're gonna have to figure

46:24

out a pass rush with bar more with Uce.

46:26

You know, maybe Jilani Taa plays a little bit more

46:29

off the edge. But you know, it's just those

46:31

guys were so good. They made so many plays,

46:33

and it's it's gonna be a real blow trying to take the field.

46:35

I just I just wonder mentally how the defense is able

46:37

to rise up without those two guys on the

46:39

field.

46:40

We actually got a couple of emails in here Douce

46:43

web Radio at Patriots dot com about

46:45

my sphere question. Oh yeah, okay, and now that

46:47

Paul's away, the mice can play, ice

46:49

can play, and we can talk about this just for

46:51

a moment. The uh,

46:54

the the sphere in Las Vegas where the

46:56

Patriots will be playing next week, not in the

46:58

sphere, but you know, maybe they get a chance

47:00

to look at it. It's an eyeball. Oh

47:03

look, oh now it looks like the sphere.

47:05

Oh it's a spear. YouTube is putting

47:08

on these great audio visual shows

47:10

inside. Really, who else could

47:12

put on a great show in there. Bill and Bozeman,

47:15

Montana said fish

47:17

would destroy that sphere. They already

47:19

crushed MGM Grand Garden Arena every couple

47:21

of years. The answer is fish. A

47:23

lot of people have fish. Answer to

47:26

this one.

47:26

You have fish friends. I I have like some fish friends

47:28

that are just you.

47:29

Know, they're no longer my friends love the

47:31

fish. They just all they

47:33

can do is talk about the fish, and they can't do

47:35

anything else other than their fish.

47:36

I spent two years in Vermont. There was a lot

47:38

of fish in Vermont.

47:39

Like, oh my god, rotten

47:42

with fish.

47:44

Yeah, it's too much.

47:45

I've never been to a fish show, but I

47:47

know a lot of people who follow them. Are they are?

47:49

They like multimedia? Is that I mean?

47:51

I felt like that was all about just like the music and

47:53

the long songs and not so much the press.

47:55

I thought it was about the drugs.

47:57

Drugs. You can do drugs anywhere, you don't need

47:59

to go to his feet.

48:00

There was a fish show in Las Vegas

48:02

when I was living out there, and it was an outdoor

48:04

samboid stadium I think, And

48:08

later that night a bunch of fish

48:10

fans showed up because Stuart Copeland.

48:13

The police was there with the guys from Fish

48:15

and they were doing like Dark Side

48:17

of the Moon in its entirety, and

48:19

the smell at the House of Blues from those

48:21

Fish fans number one no offense

48:23

bill. Alternative

48:26

hygiene methods, right, a lot of natural

48:29

stones instead of soap,

48:32

you know, a lot of leafs and berries

48:34

as opposed to deodorant.

48:36

So they're outside one hundred and ten degree heat

48:39

in the desert all day and then they go inside

48:41

the House of Blues that night for this

48:43

other show. I don't know what the

48:45

smell was, but I never want to smell it again. It's

48:48

just never, ever, ever again.

48:49

Fumigate the sphere after that one.

48:51

I think they could put on a hell of a show

48:53

there. Look at that. There's a great that is

48:56

not an

48:58

animation. That is what the thing looks

49:00

like from the outside, from other

49:02

hotel rooms on the strip. You look out at that

49:04

thing, and that's what it looks like on the outside, and

49:06

the inside is you know, all these

49:09

different depictions. I'm sure you've seen him online.

49:11

Uh.

49:12

The answer that I think I've gotten the most frequently

49:14

to this question is the band tool tool

49:16

does a lot of cool you

49:19

know, visual stuff in their shows, and

49:21

it's very psychedelic and.

49:23

A whole video running here.

49:24

Yeah, this is amazing. How did how did

49:26

how did our We don't we

49:29

don't plan this show. We just started

49:31

talking about stuff and look at them back there. It's such

49:33

a great case.

49:34

You could probably what's that?

49:38

Yeah, this is fantastic.

49:40

I think pretty much any band with goob music

49:42

could do something cool in this kind of setting.

49:45

No, No, what's Pearl Jam

49:47

gonna do? Pearl Jam's a great live band, they

49:49

don't They hang a big banner behind him

49:51

that says Pearl Jam and they just play's

49:53

and that's enough for Pearl Jam fans. They don't

49:55

necessarily want all that other stuff. Bruce

49:58

Springsteen is Bruce Springsteen. I'm not

50:00

going to put on your show in there and have all those elements

50:02

to it.

50:03

There's really nowhere to go. Huh. You just kind of stand

50:06

there. So it's really just about the

50:08

the projection behind and around you.

50:10

Well, what are you talking about?

50:11

The band? Yeah?

50:12

What do you want the band?

50:14

It's just on a square in the middle of a room.

50:16

Like it's not like a big stage. It

50:18

doesn't have like, you know, all the things

50:20

going up the.

50:20

Side does it doesn't have different levels,

50:23

No, it doesn't all that stuff.

50:25

It's like you take like a college band in a

50:27

bar and then you just put the square in the middle of a

50:29

really cool display, you know, right?

50:31

Is that how you did it when you were playing in your

50:33

college band?

50:34

There, I wish I played in a college band. I never did.

50:36

That's one of my great regrets.

50:38

I wish. I wish I were good enough to play in a.

50:40

College I gotta do a dad

50:42

band. Still, I'd get into that.

50:45

Okay, we should do it.

50:47

You write the lyrics, okay,

50:49

pu band.

50:50

Hold on a second, what type of music do

50:52

you think we're going to be playing in this band? Morel I

50:55

can.

50:56

I'm semper gumby. I'll flex all the way

50:58

you want.

51:01

Okay, all right, she's got

51:03

tool songs.

51:04

I mean we're not doing any tool No, no, I don't.

51:06

I'm speaking for myself. Do

51:08

not have the chops?

51:09

Why do people say pink Floyd like that would be one

51:11

right, But that's like they do the laser show down there

51:13

at the Museum of Science.

51:14

Pink Floyd is getting a lot of answers.

51:17

But are they psychedelic shows or is that just psychedelic

51:20

music.

51:21

Yes, and I don't

51:23

know been to a Pink Floyd show.

51:26

But the other thing you want to consider in this if

51:29

you want to like really get in the weeds,

51:33

should it be a band that can do like it at

51:35

least a month long residency like

51:37

you two is gonna be there for a while.

51:39

If you're gonna put on the production costs and like come

51:42

up with this thing, it's got to be a band that's gonna

51:44

sell out thirty or forty dates. And

51:46

I, I mean, i'd like to say

51:48

Tool can do it. I don't think they can along.

51:50

Until Taylor gets a residency there.

51:54

I what can't she do

51:57

at this point? It's crazy.

51:59

So we got we got our inactives. Let's hear,

52:01

and let's start with the good news is Jonathan Jones and

52:03

J. C. Jackson are both active, So that's good

52:05

news. Matthew Judaan is out. We knew that Cole

52:07

Strange not able to go for a

52:09

second straight week. Kayshawn

52:12

Booty, Tyrone Wheatley, Calvin Anderson,

52:14

and Will Greer will be the third quarterback

52:17

as well. So Riley Reef comes

52:19

in and that I guess bumps. Calvin Anderson

52:21

out just curious where Riley Reef

52:23

is gonna play. Is he gonna play guard? Is he gonna

52:25

play tackle? We talked about on the show this week.

52:27

They kind of seem like they had designs on him playing right

52:30

tackle this year. It lasted maybe

52:32

a week in training camp before they kind of kicked him

52:34

inside to guard. He was working at guard then for the rest

52:36

of the summer. So now he's back. Does

52:38

this result in some kind of juggling? Of course, we'll

52:40

see here in a few minutes what warmups look like, who's

52:42

lining up where, But could be some offensive

52:45

line juggling today, see if they have they how and

52:47

where they try to get Riley Reef in there?

52:49

Okay, well, j Z Jackson

52:51

in it

52:53

was kind of looking that way, as kind of trending that

52:55

way. There is this belief or

52:58

assumption that he knows this system

53:00

and he can go back in and play. How confident

53:04

or how much do you agree with that narrative?

53:06

Yeah?

53:07

I agree, I agree generally with it. I mean, I think the

53:09

thing that that with JC was just

53:11

that he's a little bit of boomer bust anyway,

53:13

and so I'm kind of ready here

53:16

in his return to maybe be a little bit

53:18

more, not to say bust

53:20

in terms of he's a bust player, but just I think he might

53:22

give up some plays here early on. And you

53:24

know, I mean he had a significant injury last year with the ptellerntail

53:27

tear, so we'll

53:29

see. I mean we're only, like we said, four games in. He

53:31

only didn't really play the last two games, didn't play

53:33

any of the other one. So it's

53:36

good they got him out there. And those two guys, I mean they're gonna

53:38

have to jump right in and play a lot against Olave

53:40

and Thomas, and it's a it's a big

53:42

challenge.

53:42

I like it, said Pteller Peller Pateller,

53:45

Pateller Tendon. Yeah, as reminded me

53:47

of Remy talking about Okajimer.

53:52

All right, so j C. Jackson, Jonathan

53:54

Jones probably bigger news in

53:57

terms of his availability today or did you see

53:59

that trending that way?

54:00

No, I mean hard to tell because he you

54:02

know, he's just been played the first game and then he was kind of out

54:04

for three weeks. So I I every week I've kind of been like,

54:06

I think he's gonna play, And

54:08

it sounded like this week when Bill talked that

54:10

that he was trying it in the right direction. So it's

54:12

good. I hope he's not limited. I hope they don't have to pull him

54:15

out and you know, manage his snaps as even

54:17

that will start to affect their depth.

54:18

What are you going on, Jack Jones?

54:21

Not sure? Still waiting, I mean hamsterring.

54:23

So it's been a little while. You wonder those available,

54:26

those are pretty sort weeks, right, Yeah, he was

54:28

eligible to come off this week. You know,

54:30

that would be another nice boost for him. I think the sooner he

54:32

can get back, and if JC goes out

54:34

there and plays you know, a bunch of snaps and looks pretty

54:36

good. Oh that's a funny boy. Uh,

54:39

that'll you know, just be a nice boost if if j

54:41

C, Jonathan Jones, even if they're just able to go wire

54:43

to wire and give them a boost, and then you get Jack Jones

54:45

back, maybe Marcus Jones, and you start to rebuild that depth

54:48

in the secondary.

54:49

All right, back to the phones eight five to five, PATS

54:51

five hundred, web radio at Patriots dot

54:53

com or if your emails coming up. But first we go

54:55

to Gabriel and Delaware. Hey we're

54:57

in Delaware, Gabriel.

55:01

He just didn't he didn't appreciate you.

55:06

Gabriel not there, all right, good,

55:09

we'll go.

55:10

I didn't want to talk to you anyway.

55:11

That's good, that's good, it's good.

55:13

All right.

55:13

Let's uh, let's get back to the emails

55:16

here. We'll check in with Stefan

55:19

in Germany and Hamburg.

55:23

Key to the game is O Line and Mac playing like

55:25

actual NFL players for once

55:27

earning their paychecks, they can't

55:29

deliver today. This season is over. The

55:32

game on November twelfth and Frankfurt is

55:34

going to be my third Patriots game live

55:36

in stadium, But uh, I

55:39

have little hope of cheering my favorite team

55:41

to a win. Yanks. Let's hope the game today doesn't

55:43

feel like another three hour long session

55:46

at the dentist by for now, Stefan

55:49

the excuse, okay, O

55:51

Line and Mac playing like actual NFL

55:54

players, Yes, more

55:56

so on Mac. The O line is

55:58

still I think hamstrong. Little personnel

56:01

issues. We just went over the inactives and you

56:03

know who's playing wearing all that stuff. Ma's

56:05

got to figure something out. You're you're gonna

56:07

you're gonna have to make a little bit of magic today.

56:10

You don't have to be full blown transcendent,

56:13

but you got to make some plays and you can't

56:15

make a ton of mistakes, and

56:18

you're gonna have to You're gonna have to go out there

56:20

and play like and I don't know, maybe

56:22

a third year NFL starting quarterback.

56:24

Yep, that's it, Hardy. I mean, that's you

56:26

know for me this week. I mean, look, the offensive

56:29

line deserves some discussion for sure, and they

56:31

just they haven't been able to do the job

56:33

consistently through the first forward games of the season.

56:35

But when I looked at last week, it was a lot

56:37

on Mac Jones for the first time really that I felt

56:39

like he just kind of unraveled

56:41

before our eyes. And I think you saw some of the reports

56:44

this morning that Bailey's apt

56:46

be getting increased snaps. I mean, I think it put

56:48

a lot of people on watch with Mac Jones.

56:51

Can he break this cycle? I mean, I know

56:53

you talked this week about guys that just all of

56:55

a sudden start to look at the rush and they can't execute

56:58

the offense. You know, we had a caller who said

57:00

there wasn't anybody open. Disagree vehemently

57:02

with that. I mean, there were guys open, especially Devonte

57:05

Parker, on crossing routes at least two or

57:07

three occasions. Look at the incomplete to

57:09

Gasiki in the end zone. He's got a nice

57:11

quick pass. He just was out of rhythm with the offense.

57:13

And that's the thing I'm most interested to

57:15

watch early on in this game is

57:18

does he look like he did the beginning the last game, because I think

57:20

the last, you know, the first drive of that last

57:22

game, he was looking pretty good. I mean the first play, twelve yard

57:24

pass to Hunter, Henry got his eyes

57:26

downfield. He's stepping up in the pocket. We talked

57:28

about on Unfiltered this week. There's just been, you

57:30

know, too much, the inability to reset

57:33

and throw a quick strike. You know it, it's

57:35

either it's not there and he runs or

57:38

he's getting sacked. So he's got to be able to find

57:40

a way, which you know, I hate trying

57:42

to draw comparisons to Brady, but we saw Brady

57:44

as one of the best to ever do it in the pocket,

57:46

the ability to take a subtle step to his left, reset

57:49

and fire the ball in there. And that's what Mack has to learn

57:51

how to do because I do think there are guys open.

57:54

It's not easy. The offensive line has been spotty,

57:56

and I understand why he doesn't trust them. He's got to get

57:58

over it though.

57:59

Right The comparison

58:01

to Brady is only really from a you

58:03

know, an ability and a tactical standpoint.

58:06

And Brady had enough

58:08

time, you know, behind enough good offensive

58:10

lines to where he didn't feel threatened

58:13

maybe every single second of

58:15

every single snap.

58:16

Yeah.

58:17

Mac hasn't had that this year. So while

58:20

it may be an unrealistic ask, it's

58:23

not unrealistic

58:25

or unfair to ask him

58:27

to step up and just

58:30

play better than your offensive line is maybe

58:33

maybe either better than they're playing

58:36

right now, or play something to make

58:38

up for the situation that the old line

58:40

is in right now. Someone's got to do it. You

58:42

want to have a season, you're gonna have to play better.

58:44

Yeah, and that's you know. And what's the move with Reef?

58:46

Like we said earlier, I mean maybe that you know, juggles

58:49

things up a little bit out of maybe they get crazy. Maybe they

58:51

put Reef at right guard and they swing when

58:53

you out to right tackle. Yeah, I don't

58:55

know. It seems like they like Mafi though at

58:57

left guard, and he got a lot of praise from Bella

59:00

check this week. So no question offensive line's

59:02

got to be better in the run game in the past game, but I just

59:04

you need to see Mac playing the executing

59:06

in his position.

1:04:16

you always having the back of your mind, It's like, I wonder

1:04:21

1:04:23

Here's hardy now

1:04:26

that you play that Backy had a dream I think it was

1:04:28

two nights ago about throwing knuckleballs. And you

1:04:31

know what I was good? I was.

1:04:33

I was excellent, no rotation at all,

1:04:35

just dancing.

1:04:36

Oh the thing looked like like

1:04:38

a butterfly with hiccups.

1:04:39

Oh I like that. Whoa did you just make

1:04:42

that up? No, that's good, no baseball

1:04:44

jargon.

1:04:45

I have a lot of butterfly metaphors. Really

1:04:47

hit a soft shot green side lens lends

1:04:49

like a butterfly with sore feet. Whatever

1:04:52

you want, I got them all. I can do it all day.

1:04:54

They have feet, It's impressive.

1:04:56

They must just like

1:05:00

what do you think they just they just land

1:05:02

on their bellies.

1:05:03

I just don't think they have ankles. They think they're like seaplane

1:05:05

point down there just go straight into the bottom.

1:05:07

Hey, Tamara Brown's with this?

1:05:09

Hi, Tamara, Hi, I think

1:05:11

that we need to ban you from using the word by

1:05:13

you moving forward.

1:05:15

The words should be banned.

1:05:18

By I think that we're going to have to ban

1:05:20

that.

1:05:22

Why don't you.

1:05:23

As you finally nice to

1:05:25

see you?

1:05:26

Wow, she was out flying a drone

1:05:28

around only an hour and five minutes late to the pretty

1:05:30

game. Okay, why don't you favor

1:05:33

us with your key to the game and see if you can improve

1:05:35

your horrific score of eighteen

1:05:38

point nine out of twenty two lower

1:05:40

being better.

1:05:42

Your key to the game for the Patriots

1:05:44

Saints today.

1:05:44

Was be like Dorry.

1:05:46

I'm hoping that since everyone in here has kids

1:05:48

that you've seen finding Nemo and

1:05:50

so Dorry forgets everything

1:05:53

immediately after you tell her. So you could tell

1:05:55

her your name is Hardy and she's going to ask you again

1:05:57

in five minutes who are you? And so I'm using

1:05:59

that as my key because I want the Patriots to come

1:06:01

into this game and completely forget what happened

1:06:03

last week. I don't want to hear about the Disasters

1:06:06

game. I don't want to hear that it was the worst loss in Bill

1:06:08

Belichick's career.

1:06:09

Don't care.

1:06:10

Today's a new day, that's in the past. If

1:06:12

you come out here paralyzed and hungover

1:06:14

from that game, you will lose against the Saints team.

1:06:16

So it's so important for them to come out here with a clean

1:06:18

slate, a fresh mind, and

1:06:21

just coming into this game with nothing

1:06:24

from last week on their minds.

1:06:25

Okay, it improves your score a little

1:06:27

bit, But I think that type of mentality

1:06:29

works better for a team that has

1:06:31

played a couple of good games then

1:06:34

suffers a bad loss. That's the

1:06:36

one you need to forget. I think they need

1:06:38

to remember how horribly they've

1:06:40

been playing. Horribly is a stretch,

1:06:43

how badly they've been playing, and in

1:06:46

order for them to get better. I

1:06:49

kind of disagree with that notion. It's a good

1:06:51

one for teams that have had a good game

1:06:53

here or there. Have the Patriots had

1:06:56

a good game this year.

1:06:57

No, But I feel like it's important

1:06:59

that you don't come in here and you're like scared to throw

1:07:01

the ball because you're scared that it's going to be a

1:07:03

pick six.

1:07:05

But they they know that they have

1:07:07

to want to get I want to get back to something here real

1:07:09

quick and Welcome back, Paul. How was your chin wag?

1:07:11

It was?

1:07:11

It was excellent.

1:07:12

Thanks, okay, asking.

1:07:13

I want to get back to something about the Patriots

1:07:15

and and specifically about the Saints

1:07:18

defense on third and short situations.

1:07:20

We talked about this a little bit with Larry Holder

1:07:22

earlier from the athletic The Saints

1:07:25

have been in seventeen third and short situations

1:07:27

this year from opposing offenses

1:07:30

right or fourth and short

1:07:32

whatever you know, conversion opportunities

1:07:36

either third and two or third and one. They've

1:07:41

those opposing offenses have

1:07:43

thrown the ball nine times. They

1:07:46

have converted on three of them

1:07:48

thirty three percent.

1:07:49

Okay.

1:07:51

When they run the ball sixty

1:07:53

six percent conversion or

1:07:55

sixty three percent? And what short

1:07:58

one or two two? Okay? So

1:08:00

you got to run the ball in these situations today?

1:08:03

Can the Patriots? Can the Patriots

1:08:06

run the ball effectively?

1:08:09

I love?

1:08:13

That has to be

1:08:15

my key one week.

1:08:16

Run the dang ball? Can they will?

1:08:19

They?

1:08:19

Can they get under center and hand

1:08:21

the ball off either to Ezekiela or Remandre

1:08:24

and pick up a yard or two uh

1:08:27

a on a third and one or

1:08:29

a third and two.

1:08:30

I think I think it depends on how Rimandre

1:08:32

feels today. I mean, he was added to

1:08:34

the injury report this week throughout practice, and so

1:08:36

I'm wondering how bad is this thy injury.

1:08:39

Is it just a tickle or is it something

1:08:41

serious that we have to keep an eye on.

1:08:43

Just know that if they pass the ball in

1:08:45

one of those situations and don't

1:08:47

convert, I will wherever

1:08:49

I'm watching.

1:08:52

High the high pen drop.

1:08:53

Yeah.

1:08:55

So this is what happens, and it's

1:08:57

out there for you.

1:08:59

That's going to be my reaction if on a fourth

1:09:01

and short they don't get it, because I can't

1:09:03

look at that anymore.

1:09:05

It's annoying.

1:09:05

No more hush push for them. No,

1:09:08

they don't seem to have that one in the bag yet.

1:09:11

Which, by the way, when we mentioned that on the Sports

1:09:13

earlier this week, I

1:09:15

asked t Bone to play a French mistake

1:09:17

from Blazing Saddles. He cut it off

1:09:19

at the right time, But they hands

1:09:23

stick out, hands on your hips,

1:09:25

give them a push. Look now you're

1:09:27

doing the French mistake. We

1:09:31

don't need.

1:09:31

We're having fun. We don't need.

1:09:33

We're having a good time.

1:09:34

I do wonder today if it's

1:09:36

one of those games where we might have to rely

1:09:39

on a trick play to score.

1:09:43

I wouldn't be opposed to some busting on some

1:09:45

you know, I don't want to be a negative

1:09:48

Nancy here, but you gotta be you gotta be down

1:09:50

in the red zone in order.

1:09:51

To run a trick play, do you though

1:09:54

you want to run?

1:09:55

I don't think they were for that one with the one with Marcus Jones.

1:09:58

I don't think they were Marcus a big first

1:10:00

down.

1:10:01

When you think a trick plays, what part of the field do they

1:10:03

take place?

1:10:03

In?

1:10:03

Pol thirty

1:10:07

and in well, you know,

1:10:09

you see a lot of them, like after a quick turnover

1:10:12

if you're around midfield. But like it

1:10:14

depends what you're talking about. You talking about like a half back

1:10:16

option or something I would say, you said.

1:10:18

A scoring play. You know they're going to score a

1:10:20

touchdown on a trick play.

1:10:22

But like you run a flee flicker from the fifty and

1:10:24

you're hoping to get the guy way,

1:10:27

you know. Yeah, But you know, like if it's like a

1:10:29

half back option or something like that that you're talking

1:10:31

about, Hardy, that's probably more in the red zone. Do

1:10:33

you know a stat that astounds me about the Patriots?

1:10:37

Do you know that they've run six super Bowls.

1:10:39

One play all year inside

1:10:42

the five yard line or inside the

1:10:44

ten yard line.

1:10:45

I believe it.

1:10:45

They have a five yard touchdown running for reminder,

1:10:48

Stevenson, what do you mean?

1:10:49

What do you mean? They've run one successful

1:10:51

play.

1:10:52

Inside the five yard line from the five yard

1:10:54

line and they've run one play all year.

1:10:55

Nobody can stop four games. They just go right

1:10:58

in.

1:11:01

Like, oh my god.

1:11:01

I think that's an astounding stat.

1:11:03

That is that is crazy. That's really good, all

1:11:07

right.

1:11:07

I mean it's hard, you know, Paul, you said this, You've said this

1:11:10

all year, all off season,

1:11:12

saying that you know they could be better, but

1:11:14

the schedule's harder, so it might not turn

1:11:17

out to be what it was last year eight and nine.

1:11:19

And I mean it's interesting in practice

1:11:21

when this is actually happening. It's kind

1:11:23

of hard to stomach. As we get moving along

1:11:25

in the season here. If the offense isn't

1:11:28

demonstrably better right than it was

1:11:30

last year.

1:11:30

Yeah, so so far, I would say it hasn't been

1:11:32

better. No, but I would say that if they had

1:11:35

more games like the first one,

1:11:37

I would have said that's what I was talking about that because

1:11:39

I do think offensively from

1:11:41

the late second quarter and

1:11:45

into periods of the second half, the

1:11:47

offense looks better mm hm. And that's

1:11:49

really the only time in the four games that I felt that.

1:11:52

But they lost because the other teams

1:11:54

a little better. Yeah, and they you know, the Eagles

1:11:56

had more players and they made more plays and they found a way

1:11:58

to win. But then the other three games,

1:12:00

we haven't really seen.

1:12:01

That if you remember that happening before. Where As

1:12:03

I always feel like, and maybe this is foolish

1:12:06

of me, because it's I'm starting not to really believe it, but I

1:12:08

always go into the first game or to sloppy,

1:12:11

you know, this is going to be a weird game. This isn't

1:12:13

really who the team's going to be at the end of the year. But I don't

1:12:15

ever remember a start where you look

1:12:17

four games through and your best performance was in

1:12:19

the first game and you've just been kind of on a

1:12:21

downward trajectory since then. And that's

1:12:24

you know, feeds into today, like how do you turn that around?

1:12:26

But it's just so I don't know if teams

1:12:28

are getting a beat on them, if you know, guys are getting

1:12:30

hurt. Of course that's part of it too, but just weird. It

1:12:33

is weird.

1:12:33

I'm wondering if it attributes to them working

1:12:35

so much on the

1:12:37

Eagles offense throughout the summer. We

1:12:40

constantly saw them getting looks at those dual

1:12:42

threat quarterbacks. I'm

1:12:44

wondering if because they had all summer to prepare

1:12:47

for Week one versus you don't have all summer to

1:12:49

prepare for the rest of the season, if

1:12:51

that's why they looked their best.

1:12:52

Yeah, that's good.

1:12:53

Yeah, yeah, and especially because they knew that was a big

1:12:55

weakness of theirs.

1:12:56

Another team coming out player in their first game,

1:12:58

you know, working out some kings too. I mean, you looked

1:13:00

better against a team that is, you know, struggling

1:13:03

here and there too.

1:13:04

But sounded like doctor Eld

1:13:06

they're struggling.

1:13:08

I couldn't care less if there's straggling.

1:13:11

Michelle in South Carolina, Hello Michelle,

1:13:14

Hello, everybody? What's up?

1:13:17

Uh?

1:13:17

You you tell us us?

1:13:19

You called us?

1:13:20

What? Yeah?

1:13:23

You're we We got you. There

1:13:25

was a lot of animal noises in the background last

1:13:27

time I spoke with you. It sounds relatively quiet

1:13:30

this time.

1:13:31

Yeah.

1:13:32

My my my bulldog is

1:13:34

being quiet today. Okay, good, all

1:13:37

right, So guys,

1:13:40

who will move over.

1:13:42

To dudon position today?

1:13:45

And I'm thinking, uh.

1:13:48

Pet, doesn't Bob Moore need to

1:13:50

have a good game today?

1:13:52

Also questions, uh, Billy,

1:13:55

oh, does he have enough running

1:13:57

place in his scheme to

1:14:00

get Zeek going and Stevenson

1:14:02

because we've got to stay out of third and long.

1:14:05

Third and long kill us and

1:14:07

we can go after Derek Kah who's dealing

1:14:10

with the shoulder injuries. And

1:14:12

they have a backup cent a place, so

1:14:15

how can we take advantage of that because

1:14:18

they have a lot of injuries too.

1:14:20

Yeah, all right, thanks Michelle. We're gonna start

1:14:22

with Judo.

1:14:23

I mean, I think it'll probably be Jennings' early

1:14:25

downs and then they're gonna have to maybe spin the

1:14:27

dial a little bit on third downs is to you

1:14:29

know, try to get some speed on the field. I don't know if it'll be Jennings,

1:14:32

if they'll maybe tweak Tavia's role a little

1:14:34

bit. But there's just I mean, like I bring up

1:14:36

Ronnie Perkins, like plucked off the practice squad.

1:14:39

He would be at least a guy that you could maybe bring in and

1:14:41

say you're gonna just be a pass rusher and it you

1:14:43

know, allows you to play Jude play uce a

1:14:45

little bit more. I don't know I'm curious

1:14:47

how they're going to go about trying to generate

1:14:49

pass rush without Matthew Judo.

1:14:53

It's not gonna be easy because he I think

1:14:55

does more than just pass rush too. I think

1:14:57

that he is I mean, I don't think he's the greatest.

1:15:00

The other thing, I think obviously.

1:15:01

He at lea should throw Jennings in there and he can hold.

1:15:02

He's gonna he's gonna set the edge, and

1:15:05

I think with with guys like maybe Keon

1:15:08

White, you might have an opportunity to get

1:15:10

some penetration in the backfield and whatnot.

1:15:12

I don't know if you have a guy that does. You

1:15:14

know, it's not it's pretty obvious that all

1:15:17

the stuff that that Judt does because I don't like

1:15:19

the idea OF's role getting much

1:15:21

bigger. Yeah, I like in that

1:15:23

sort of designated pass rushing role.

1:15:25

And he's got that speed off the edge, and you know that's what I

1:15:27

think, you know, helped be so productive

1:15:29

is you know, the two guys coming off the edge with him

1:15:31

and Jude On it kind of spreads the line

1:15:33

out a little bit. The tackles have to go out to get those guys,

1:15:35

and then you know, presents opportunities on the inside,

1:15:38

and if you don't have another speed rusher

1:15:40

where you know key On White is not going to threaten the

1:15:42

edge. I mean, I like what he's doing, but there's

1:15:45

there's no easy answer on third down

1:15:47

who's coming off the edge and challenging tackles.

1:15:50

Alex in New Jersey on the Patriots pregame

1:15:52

Show fueled by Duncan. Hello, Alex, Hello,

1:15:57

my.

1:15:57

Name is Alex Moro, and I just

1:15:59

want to have a question for

1:16:02

Matthews Jude. I know Matthew Dudon

1:16:04

and Christian Gonzalez is injured, but

1:16:07

I'm wondering if Jack Jones will

1:16:09

still be playing. Is matt Joe is a

1:16:13

Jack Jones still going to be playing?

1:16:15

Not yet. He's still on injured reserve,

1:16:17

so he's we're waiting. He's eligible to return

1:16:20

when he's healthy, but he was not healthy this week to return,

1:16:22

so he is still remains inactive

1:16:24

and we'll see each week he could come off.

1:16:26

It's getting getting getting a little closer

1:16:28

hopefully. Alex. All right, all

1:16:31

right, thanks buddy, Thanks Alex, thanks for calling

1:16:33

him. We'll go to William and Philadelphia eight five

1:16:35

five Pats five hundred if you'd like to join us here

1:16:37

on the Patriots pregame show. Hi William,

1:16:40

Hi you doing good?

1:16:41

How you doing good?

1:16:44

I agree with your assessment about

1:16:46

mag need to be playing

1:16:49

like a third year quarterback. Also with Paul.

1:16:51

Paul has been very consistent about talking

1:16:53

about how Mex has been playing when I'm

1:16:56

done protecting him at that point. But I

1:16:58

do agree with you. But he is

1:17:00

also a problem to his offensive

1:17:03

lines and shambles and his his

1:17:06

receivers can't get open. What

1:17:08

do y'all want him to do?

1:17:10

I want him to throw it to the guys when they are open.

1:17:13

I want him to make some plays. I want him

1:17:15

to like hit a four yard cross or the Devonte

1:17:17

Parker on fourth and three. Like I

1:17:19

just I understand they're not going to score forty

1:17:22

points a game because of all the reasons

1:17:24

you just said, But that doesn't mean you could score three. True,

1:17:28

that's all true.

1:17:30

I as a Patriots

1:17:32

fan, dalhar Look, I got the things

1:17:34

winning this game. If somehow, if we

1:17:37

can win this game, I hope

1:17:39

Bill would be on the phone making a move or wide

1:17:41

receiver to add, you.

1:17:42

Know, to help back out. Efore That's

1:17:44

all I got got.

1:17:45

Okay, thanks William.

1:17:46

There is I think we you know, maybe it's next

1:17:49

week, you know, we table this or maybe we you

1:17:51

know, it depends. If it goes really bad today, we can

1:17:53

talk about the postgame show. Okay, just the

1:17:55

notion of adding to this team astounds

1:17:58

me. And it's one hundred percent everybody

1:18:00

wants to add go out and get a piece.

1:18:02

Why are they not signing this guy, Why are they not

1:18:04

trading for that guy. I'm really surprised

1:18:06

that so many people want to add to this team.

1:18:09

Yeah, I don't want to give up

1:18:11

asset, especially in not draft pick high round draft

1:18:13

pick assets at this point. I mean, unless

1:18:15

it's you know, like a situation where

1:18:17

you have an opportunity to get somebody here and

1:18:19

build for the future. But I'm

1:18:22

not really interested in trying to burn picks and try to

1:18:24

like, you know, a second for Mohamed Sanu that

1:18:26

kind of deal.

1:18:27

What what confused me about

1:18:29

that notion, Paul in that feeling was

1:18:32

that people were saying, you know, why are they picking

1:18:34

up J. C. Jackson, you know,

1:18:36

when what this team really needs is

1:18:39

a receiver. I said, well, number one, it's a question

1:18:41

of personnel to use to borrow

1:18:43

from Bill Belichick in the post game last week. Well,

1:18:45

someone's got to play, so you need someone

1:18:47

out there in that position and

1:18:50

to have some depth there. But were

1:18:52

you talking about, well, why don't you bring in receiver?

1:18:55

I don't know, go back and ask yourself

1:18:57

and maybe start to accept the

1:19:00

answer that the reason why they didn't

1:19:02

bring in DeAndre Hopkins or they haven't

1:19:04

done more is because they have a feeling,

1:19:07

a nagging notion that their quarterback can't

1:19:09

make the most use out

1:19:11

of those weapons, especially with the offensive

1:19:13

line that he has now and the quarterback that

1:19:15

he is. What are we going to pay DeAndre Hopkins for?

1:19:18

Yeah, so he can do what with

1:19:20

him? Miss him when he's open.

1:19:22

I just think if this season continues down a downward

1:19:24

trend, it's not The answer isn't to go trade for

1:19:26

somebody. It's to Paul's key, get

1:19:29

Pop Douglas out there as much as possible, get Booty

1:19:31

a chance, and get Taekwon Thornton back. I mean, I

1:19:33

don't really have you know these

1:19:35

grand notions that Taekwon Thornton's going to be the

1:19:37

answer. But he is a second year player you spent a

1:19:39

second round pick on last year. He needs

1:19:41

to play. You need to at least get a sense of what you have with

1:19:43

that guy before you go trade for somebody,

1:19:46

and then you know what you want to trade for somebody and push him

1:19:48

and pop Douglas down. I think those

1:19:50

guys could possibly be part of the future, and

1:19:52

they need to play this year, especially if you know they're

1:19:54

they're out of the playoff. Kind of mix.

1:19:56

Unbelievable playmate and that Jacksonville

1:19:59

buffalo was that Williams who came down with that.

1:20:01

Yeah, it was a third and fifteen.

1:20:04

He just kind of took a shot. He looked like

1:20:06

he had a chance for Diggs. Josh Allen threw

1:20:08

one down inside the five, and

1:20:11

yeah.

1:20:11

It was.

1:20:12

It was, but it was a great, great play

1:20:14

on the ball by the defensive back Williams

1:20:16

four. I think it is it Darius Williams, I'm

1:20:18

not sure. For Jacksonville

1:20:21

goes up and fights Digs for the

1:20:23

ball. Diggs had a chance to make a play on it, but

1:20:26

the defensive back for the Jags out fought

1:20:28

him. So you'll be happy today, Mike,

1:20:30

because you know, I know how much you

1:20:32

hate talent.

1:20:34

Just digs.

1:20:34

That's the that's the down from Napoleon Dynamite.

1:20:37

Yeah, so it's down at the seven yard line. So it does

1:20:40

like as Hardy said, it kind of works as a as a

1:20:42

punt for the for the Bills.

1:20:43

Eric in New Jersey, Hello, Eric, thanks

1:20:45

for joining us here by the way. Now

1:20:48

I'll do it in a second, Eric, you go first.

1:20:51

Hey guys,

1:20:52

Yeah.

1:20:55

Yeah, I mean the worst thing I think he was, you

1:20:57

know, seeing a gunpoint in Matt Jones.

1:20:59

You know, the gun shot Mac Jones. You

1:21:02

know, I think we kind of saw it last year. You neverminder and kind

1:21:04

of picked up a lot of receptions. Uh, you

1:21:06

know, MAT's really throwing the ball right there at the line, getting

1:21:09

it out, you know, even quick and obviously

1:21:11

I know what, you know, all the offensive line struggles,

1:21:13

but the brand of football

1:21:15

just watching you know, just straighten them talking from you

1:21:17

know, an entertainment you know, perspective from Cam

1:21:19

Jones, I mean from Cam Newton

1:21:22

to Mac Jones. I mean, just a brand of football

1:21:24

putting out there, you know, especially offensively. I

1:21:26

think it's tough to watch, but you know, I guess that more importantly

1:21:29

as far as it relates to this game, I still

1:21:32

want to see Max. I don't think Max the answer,

1:21:34

but you got to throw the ball you gots got to play offense out

1:21:36

here. I don't want to see these five yard games

1:21:38

and dunk stall every game. I'll take it off the line.

1:21:40

Thanks guys.

1:21:41

If you move the if you moved the ball in five and

1:21:44

six yard chunks, I

1:21:46

agree that it's not that most exciting thing in

1:21:48

the world. But if you do it enough times again,

1:21:50

actually get the ball downfield and get yourself

1:21:52

a chance at at at

1:21:55

scoring something today beyond

1:21:58

fifteen points, I'd be throwing. I'm

1:22:00

not how can you be picky?

1:22:03

How can you be picky?

1:22:04

Right?

1:22:04

Anything that works, I would say, anything that.

1:22:06

Works, I would love it if it's Douglas,

1:22:08

like Paul said in his Key, to get Douglas

1:22:11

involved, and you get

1:22:13

it out to him and he can get five

1:22:16

six more yards after the catch, you

1:22:18

know, for a gain of ten or twelve. Fantastic.

1:22:21

It's turning cartwheels with a twelve yard

1:22:23

gain. But if all you're gonna give me is five

1:22:25

or six two

1:22:27

plays in a row for another first down all

1:22:30

day, I'll take it.

1:22:31

Yeah.

1:22:32

I think they can't afford to be conservative when

1:22:34

it comes to Tomorrio Douglas. I think that with

1:22:36

him being the most dynamic and fast and

1:22:39

the most dynamic and the most

1:22:42

basically It's like, I don't want to sit there and like talk

1:22:45

about the rest of the wide receivers and say that they're

1:22:47

not good, because you know they're all NFL wide receivers.

1:22:49

But he creates the most opportunity

1:22:51

to create plays. I just especially

1:22:53

when things unravel the way they have with the offensive

1:22:55

line and stuff like, he can get open to

1:22:58

make a play for Mac Shones.

1:22:59

Yeah, I mean, I mean, I totally agree with Paul's pointing

1:23:01

he's the play more. I'd like to just see him targeted

1:23:03

in situ key situations where it feels like there's

1:23:05

been a lot of key situations over the last

1:23:08

few games where it's Juju getting the target and

1:23:10

it just never looks quite right. And

1:23:13

i'd like to see when I think when you start to see Mac

1:23:15

looking at different direction and third down, that will

1:23:17

signal when things are starting to change. And I'd love to see pop

1:23:19

because he can get open those third and shorts.

1:23:21

He's got that quick, quick twitch ability. I

1:23:24

believe in that a lot more right now than I believe in what Jujui.

1:23:26

I think that starts too with him actually

1:23:29

knowing the plays and not getting confused and running

1:23:31

into people. I think he's had a few issues

1:23:33

like that, so I'm hoping that he was able

1:23:35

to wrinkle some of that out

1:23:37

this week.

1:23:38

In practice.

1:23:38

Yeah, I

1:23:40

met somebody last week. Oh

1:23:43

I met Dom of Dom Sausage.

1:23:45

Oh really, and it was I was

1:23:48

a bit starstruck and I

1:23:50

thanked him. I thanked him for his

1:23:53

steak tips and for his uh uh

1:23:56

delectable meets.

1:23:58

This is gonna sound weird, how about this. Dom

1:24:00

Sausage is the official steak tip of the New England

1:24:02

Patriots. You can order them online for nationwide

1:24:05

delivery at Domsausage dot com. Use promo

1:24:07

code PATS fifteen for fifteen

1:24:09

percent off. That's promo code pa t

1:24:11

S one five. But Dom delightful

1:24:14

guy.

1:24:15

I would give a local plug to Wartsberry

1:24:17

Farm up the street here in Sharon by someone's. They have a

1:24:20

wonderful display of all kinds of DOMS

1:24:22

products that I'm very tempted by. I need

1:24:24

to try them all, but Turkey steak

1:24:26

tips the whole thing. They've got it. They've got it all there.

1:24:28

So if you're a local head over there, you can get your

1:24:30

share of Doms.

1:24:31

And how much have you purchased there yourself.

1:24:33

Phew, okay, few, Yeah, No,

1:24:35

it's I mean they look so nice, like it's like you know

1:24:38

those like certain things just going and you're like,

1:24:40

oh man, that was a really good tonight. It's just a bag

1:24:42

of steak tips. So that AT's logo on.

1:24:44

Yeah, they know what they're doing.

1:24:45

Hopefully they got them today up there. That's my favorite.

1:24:47

Daniel and Tennessee, you're on.

1:24:49

What's up?

1:24:49

Daniel?

1:24:51

Hey, guys, first time, long time. I

1:24:54

just wanted to call in about something Paul said about

1:24:56

buying things for this team versus selling

1:24:59

accents. I'm not completely agree. I

1:25:01

mean, I don't think that this team is cruising towards a

1:25:03

playoff spot or anything like that, So

1:25:06

why wait fast that whenever you probably need

1:25:08

to rebuild going into next year. And I

1:25:10

mean, I don't want to bring the mood down, but personally

1:25:12

I would rather than either split the next two games

1:25:14

to go one and one or lose both

1:25:16

of them preferably.

1:25:18

Wow.

1:25:19

Yeah.

1:25:19

And when I said, like, I'm not necessarily

1:25:21

saying that they have to sell parts either, but

1:25:24

I'm just and I'm I'm just surprised

1:25:27

that we haven't heard anybody bring that up. Yeah,

1:25:29

you know, this call is one of the very few

1:25:31

that I've heard sort of broaching that as

1:25:33

a possibility. Like I've heard a

1:25:35

lot of hue and cry over not

1:25:38

getting Chase Claypool, Like I

1:25:41

just don't know why. And I get it, like

1:25:44

that particular one, Okay, to switch

1:25:46

spots from from the seventh round of the sixth round,

1:25:48

like what is not nothing lost? Right? So

1:25:50

I get it, but people

1:25:53

really want to invest in

1:25:55

this team, and I'm just not sure that

1:25:57

it's it's worth you know, losing anything

1:26:00

of any value juncture.

1:26:01

Yeah, but you just said that you.

1:26:03

Can trade a fifth round pick for a sixth round pick or

1:26:05

something, you know, crazy like that, and that's all it takes.

1:26:08

Fine, But you know,

1:26:10

I just don't think it makes a lot of sense.

1:26:12

But that was it, Chase Claypool. I mean,

1:26:14

for that one for that one player,

1:26:16

in that one move alone. Why wouldn't

1:26:18

the Patriots do that because

1:26:21

someone else did it? Well?

1:26:23

No, I mean like maybe they tried. I mean who

1:26:25

knows, Yeah.

1:26:26

I don't know.

1:26:27

I mean, the guy's big, slow and he's on his third

1:26:29

team.

1:26:29

Like they tried, and they weren't willing to give up

1:26:31

a sixth round in an exchange for

1:26:33

the seventh round. I'm not overly.

1:26:35

Upset that they didn't get Chase Claypool, who

1:26:37

has been asked to leave two different teams in four

1:26:39

years. But I get it, Like it wouldn't

1:26:41

have cost you anything, so why not, Like

1:26:44

to Hardy's point, what are you losing? I

1:26:46

mean, you're moving. You're going from the

1:26:48

sixth round to the seventh round in a draft spot. Yes,

1:26:50

to get a guy who once as

1:26:52

a rookie was productive, right.

1:26:54

And that's I mean. And Jalen Rager's never been productive,

1:26:56

but at least he's like got some traits

1:26:58

that are different than what they have, like another big

1:27:00

receiver that like that, Like at least

1:27:02

Jayalen Maker on the practice squad, Like

1:27:05

I feel pretty much the same way about those guys.

1:27:09

Thank you, Daniel. Let's move to John

1:27:13

and Louisiana. Hello John, Thanks, Oh

1:27:16

John, you speak my language.

1:27:19

You and I share something.

1:27:23

What's going on? Man?

1:27:24

How are you?

1:27:25

I didn't get an I had a look at the call screen,

1:27:27

right, didn't get it?

1:27:28

Well, John, John, you're from Louisiana.

1:27:30

You know why the alligator crossed the road, don't

1:27:32

you?

1:27:33

Because he wanted to get by

1:27:35

you.

1:27:36

Yeah, stage

1:27:39

go, thank you, John, But

1:27:43

uh, I want to ak with

1:27:45

the offense being all kind of messed up with the

1:27:47

last couple of weeks, I'm wondering, would you guys

1:27:49

be more interested the running game would be better

1:27:51

today on the past.

1:27:52

Game passing game.

1:27:54

I just that's that's my hat, to only choose one.

1:27:57

Yeah, I'd rather have it be the passing game, but yeah,

1:27:59

they both need to be better or you're absolutely right.

1:28:01

Yeah I would, I would, shure would, I would.

1:28:03

I would prefer passing game because I think you

1:28:05

need a you need a real jump start

1:28:07

for this offense, and that is that

1:28:09

is attained, uh in

1:28:12

a quicker way and a better way and a more visible

1:28:14

way to my untrained ive with

1:28:16

with a improved playing the passing

1:28:19

game more so than the running game. That's it.

1:28:21

Yeah, well, well a lot of people would say

1:28:23

if we can't if we can't pass the ball, we need to be able

1:28:25

to run like you just run up the stat We need to run

1:28:27

on third and short. So I'm like, isn't that like kind

1:28:29

of contrary to what you thought right there?

1:28:31

Oh no, well

1:28:34

yeah on third and short situations. I

1:28:36

mean, I'm not saying you got to pass it on every

1:28:39

single down, but third and short.

1:28:41

What look, this goes for most teams,

1:28:44

I would say, John, when I see somebody dropping

1:28:47

back to pass on a third and

1:28:49

one, I think, what.

1:28:50

Are you doing?

1:28:51

You can't you can't figure out a way

1:28:54

to open up a hole for your best running

1:28:56

back to get a yard, presumably

1:28:58

your third down back, which I felt was

1:29:00

supposed to be Ezekiel Elliott. But we keep talking

1:29:02

about Remandre and whether he's going to

1:29:04

be healthy enough. To me, there are some things

1:29:06

that you just have to be able to do to

1:29:09

be a functioning NFL team

1:29:11

in twenty twenty three. And one of those

1:29:13

things is pick up a yard on

1:29:15

third and one by running the ball. To me, that

1:29:18

you know, that is checkers, not chess, and

1:29:20

sometimes checkers is just fine.

1:29:23

Yeah, throw a score, run to win.

1:29:25

I mean, I think that's kind of the core of what the Patriots

1:29:27

need to do, you know, like the third.

1:29:28

And one not appropriate,

1:29:31

not yet, Paul, not yet almost, But

1:29:34

that's generally how I feel like they got to score points.

1:29:36

Like, that's the bottom line. They got to score points. You score

1:29:38

points by throwing the ball. They get

1:29:40

a lead, they can run the ball. Third and

1:29:42

short icing the clock, those kind of things.

1:29:44

That's when it's important. But for this to be a functional

1:29:48

NFL offense, they need to be able to throw the ball and

1:29:50

put it in the inside.

1:29:50

And John, how dare you listen that closely

1:29:53

to something I said and then try and use it against

1:29:55

me? I don't appreciate John,

1:30:02

Thanks, buddy, appreciate it.

1:30:03

We should have gotten like the Bobby Bouchet, assistant coach,

1:30:06

got a call in for a preview.

1:30:07

That good, good

1:30:14

call, John, Thank you. Moyes is in Florida.

1:30:16

Moy is this I haven't talked you in a minute. What's going on?

1:30:19

Man? Good? How you guys doing good?

1:30:21

Good?

1:30:22

Haven't I haven't called in a long time.

1:30:24

You know why I haven't called? Tolono

1:30:27

Mega give me over there in New

1:30:29

England, Paul, I love

1:30:31

you dudes, I love you to the

1:30:33

host, I love Fred everybody.

1:30:35

I listened every time to your

1:30:38

shows.

1:30:38

Thanks appreciate it.

1:30:40

But the thing, the thing that

1:30:42

is going on in New England, remember

1:30:45

we spoil you. I'm from the I'm

1:30:47

fifty four years old. I went

1:30:49

through that era that they sucked and now

1:30:52

we went to the era that they were winning.

1:30:57

It's becoming. Now they're going to

1:30:59

stop again for a little bit.

1:31:01

So, yes, we lack. You

1:31:04

know, I just want to say

1:31:06

hi to you guys, God bless

1:31:08

you.

1:31:09

Have a good day, all right, Moyses,

1:31:12

thanks, thank you for

1:31:14

the call. Moyses has

1:31:16

made his peace. He's

1:31:19

not talking about this season. He's not talking about

1:31:21

picking up uh wide

1:31:23

receivers. He lived

1:31:25

through them sucking. He said that

1:31:27

now we have entered another period of suck

1:31:30

and just deal with it.

1:31:32

Negativity that's in this town sucks.

1:31:34

Yeah, and I and I get what he's saying because

1:31:36

I was. You know, I'm old enough to have followed

1:31:39

those teams that weren't very good either. But that's

1:31:41

like I kind of is why I

1:31:43

feel the way I feel about what's going on now, Like

1:31:45

these teams kind of reminiscent.

1:31:47

There's just something about having a

1:31:49

team with the thought

1:31:53

to be greatest head

1:31:55

football coach in the history of the NFL,

1:31:58

and you know, the best ownership

1:32:00

group and all these things in place. How

1:32:03

can a team like that suck? Using

1:32:06

Moyses' words, how can

1:32:08

the Patriots suck? You still, Bill Belichick?

1:32:11

How can they suck?

1:32:12

Yeah?

1:32:13

Well, I mean they're not They're not the

1:32:15

team that that was last week. I think that what we're

1:32:17

hoping this week is that we regress towards the mean

1:32:19

and we see a little bit closer to what we were hoping

1:32:21

that this team was. You know, as we get

1:32:23

into as I said at the top of the show, this period in

1:32:26

October, when you start to find out what you have.

1:32:28

Guys have been playing together for a few months now,

1:32:30

you should start to be building some continuity along

1:32:32

the offensive line. The offense should starting

1:32:35

to be finding some kind of a rhythm. So it's

1:32:37

a it's a good it's a good opportunity.

1:32:39

It's just it's a tough challenge from the Saints. With that that veteran

1:32:42

d I think they've got enough pieces to really, you

1:32:44

know, make for tough sludding today. It's not going to be

1:32:46

a get right game. It's going to be a game that you have to fight

1:32:48

tooth and nail for probably right down to the end to get

1:32:50

the win.

1:32:52

Yeah, your boy Julius Peppers out there, Julius

1:32:54

Peppers, that's right.

1:32:57

I like that.

1:32:58

You know, Jabrill Peppers, please

1:33:00

might do that because I almost did it on the air last

1:33:02

week. Sorry, favorite,

1:33:06

And he's played, he's played pretty well for them.

1:33:08

I you know, Mike and I like to bicker

1:33:10

back and forth. I don't think he's played as well as Mike does,

1:33:13

but he has played pretty well for them.

1:33:15

I think it's interesting, you know, just you know, sort of

1:33:17

looking at him and this my key to the game right there, to Mario Douglas.

1:33:20

But how they use

1:33:23

those safeties with the situation

1:33:25

at cornerback, you know, I think will

1:33:27

be an interesting thing to keep an eye on.

1:33:29

Yeah, maybe more well, Cody

1:33:31

Davis isn't back, so I don't know. I had some

1:33:33

designs maybe that it might Cody

1:33:35

Davis's return Mike free Adrian Phillips up a little bit,

1:33:37

but I don't know for sure if that would be the case.

1:33:39

But I

1:33:41

can't possibly be more upset at

1:33:44

the over emphasis on special teams. If

1:33:46

Adrian Phillips really doesn't play because

1:33:49

he plays too much on special.

1:33:50

Yeah, now, and I know, and that's probably You're

1:33:52

probably right.

1:33:53

I mean, like, I don't have any problem

1:33:55

with their safeties. I think Douger

1:33:57

and Pepper's h you know, those guys I

1:33:59

think have played played pretty well, So

1:34:02

it's not like I think they're really

1:34:04

missing Adrian Phillips.

1:34:05

No, No, I just might give him some debt, but

1:34:07

you're You're probably right. It's ultimately just you

1:34:09

know, he's special teams in a

1:34:12

backup safety.

1:34:12

Now Bills, by the way, in a lot of

1:34:14

trouble, as some predicted.

1:34:16

Thank you, Uh, Bill's down eighteen

1:34:18

to seven against a

1:34:21

Jacksonville team that's that.

1:34:22

Owns them, shown some play. You didn't tell

1:34:25

me that Paul.

1:34:25

That owns them. They've played well against them, No, Ill,

1:34:28

I thought, hardy, this was one

1:34:30

of those games. I thought that Buffalo played exceptionally

1:34:32

well last week in an emotional game at

1:34:34

home against Miami. I thought there

1:34:37

was a chance. I picked Buffalo to win the game,

1:34:39

but I picked Jacksonville to cover.

1:34:41

And you know why you picked Jacksonville to cover.

1:34:43

Because I thought Buffalo would be flat today and

1:34:45

they have been.

1:34:46

No, because they're the road team in an international

1:34:49

game. Always take well,

1:34:51

not the not the road team, the underdog in

1:34:53

one of these overseas games, always take Is

1:34:55

that a thing? That is an RJ. Bell thing?

1:34:58

I heard a couple other of those things that I

1:35:00

didn't agree with this.

1:35:01

Week, and they went the other way on him, didn't

1:35:03

they?

1:35:03

Did they?

1:35:03

Really?

1:35:04

Yeah?

1:35:04

Yeah, he had a couple of Yeah, well two weeks no,

1:35:06

two weeks ago, he had a couple of things, and they both.

1:35:09

Get some odd odd

1:35:12

observations about the league. I'm not talking about

1:35:14

gambling trends because I leave that to those

1:35:16

guys. They study that stuff and

1:35:18

they know that inside and out. But like what he

1:35:20

thinks of teams and

1:35:23

what they are, I think is in a lot of

1:35:25

ways. I think it's counter to

1:35:27

what I think most people would feel.

1:35:28

Yeah, and I also I also kind

1:35:30

of like push back on any kind of heap you do.

1:35:33

I noticed that, Well, I push back on a hive

1:35:35

mentality. It's like, well, here's a team

1:35:37

that thinks, you know, they're better than

1:35:40

they are, and like, really go through

1:35:42

every you know, one through fifty three in the locker room,

1:35:44

and each one of those guys thinks they're better than what

1:35:46

they are. There may be a few guys and a few

1:35:48

key players, but to think that you've get a you've

1:35:50

got a general consensus about

1:35:53

a team's.

1:35:53

Chances or this or that. Oh, it's team,

1:35:55

team, team.

1:35:56

It's a group of individuals and they come together

1:35:59

and they have to and I get it, that's the sport.

1:36:01

But you can't assign a feeling

1:36:03

or an attitude or an emotion to an

1:36:05

entire football team. I reject

1:36:08

that.

1:36:08

I reject out of hand.

1:36:10

Out of hand, it's rejected.

1:36:12

Do you guys, do you make anything of the report

1:36:15

on morning ZAPPI getting

1:36:17

increased reps this week? Do you did anything

1:36:19

in that?

1:36:19

Oh?

1:36:20

I put something to it.

1:36:21

You have some info that So

1:36:23

Mike is basically this, this whole

1:36:25

pregame show is Mike holding out information.

1:36:28

I watched NFL whatever

1:36:30

it was this morning, and uh, yeah, Callisero.

1:36:32

I've watched nothing network. I've

1:36:34

seen none of this. Just said I do you see Bailey

1:36:37

Zappie on the field right now?

1:36:38

Yes?

1:36:40

Uh?

1:36:41

And Ian Rappaport also had this

1:36:44

NFL game day kickoff. Patriots

1:36:46

are sticking with Mac Jones, no change is imminent.

1:36:48

But Bailey Zappy did get more practice

1:36:50

snaps, no limitations. Okay,

1:36:54

So that was it, ZAPPI just getting

1:36:56

more reps.

1:36:57

So I did bring up during the course of our PU

1:37:00

shows this week, Mike, I said, do you

1:37:02

think that the leash will be any shorter with

1:37:04

with Mac? You know, if they struggle early

1:37:06

in the game again like they have in every

1:37:08

all, like really all all four

1:37:11

games, do you think that the

1:37:13

the leash will be any shorter, and maybe

1:37:15

based on that if that, if that report

1:37:17

is what is the over under on penalties on one

1:37:19

team in a in a London game, because I got

1:37:21

Buffalo with about twenty eight

1:37:22

years.

1:37:26

And fifteen yards.

1:37:28

The I just I feel if that

1:37:30

report has any validity, then I

1:37:33

would think that the leash is going to be a little shorter.

1:37:35

Well, I think that the leash will be shorter with the fans in the

1:37:37

building, then it will be with the coaching the fan absolutely

1:37:39

and that that might make for a little bit of an interesting

1:37:41

situation that they get off to a slow start. So it's

1:37:44

interesting from the get go today.

1:37:45

Yeah, it is. It is a question of okay,

1:37:48

if Mac plays poorly, now we know that Zappi

1:37:50

coming into the game is a likelihood.

1:37:53

Does he come into the game before

1:37:55

the game is out of hand? Last week the

1:37:57

game was out of hand, Zapi came in. It's a good point

1:38:00

that so, but that's your question, Paul,

1:38:02

just.

1:38:04

Don't get let the game get to that point if it's

1:38:06

and I mean I think.

1:38:06

That that's what Zappy come into this game today.

1:38:09

If they're losing in Mac isn't playing well, but the game

1:38:11

is still winnable.

1:38:12

Well, I mean, I think what you know, what you saw from

1:38:14

Mac when he just you know, his footwork and everything

1:38:16

just he was not playing the position the

1:38:18

way they need him to. And I just I wonder if

1:38:21

they would throw the brakes on if if things were going

1:38:24

negatively, because they saw last week that things

1:38:26

kind of snowballed and now hey, let's get

1:38:28

him out of there and get Zappi in. I mean, I

1:38:30

he needs a good start, is what needs and then I think

1:38:33

that'll you know, be contagious throughout the team and

1:38:35

maybe then that's the way they roll. I it's

1:38:37

really hard for me today to see a favorable outcome

1:38:39

if they don't get off to a good start again. I mean, it's just,

1:38:41

you know, it's it's like we all feel it's like my key

1:38:44

break the cycle. It's you know, if they go out

1:38:46

there and the Saints put up ten points early and it's, you

1:38:48

know, here we go again. I'm sure that you

1:38:50

know that that's kind of the mentality that that

1:38:52

is starting to fester around there after these slow starts.

1:38:55

Uh, you guys ready for over Runders Ovanda.

1:38:59

It's tough for this week's edition of Over

1:39:01

Unders.

1:39:02

You're over me, when will you under

1:39:04

me?

1:39:04

We're gonna thank Bridgetown official tire of

1:39:07

the New England Patriots, Proud department with Sullivan

1:39:09

Tire, New England's headquarters for quality Bridgetown

1:39:11

Tires. Visit Sullivantyre dot com to find

1:39:13

a location near you. What happened

1:39:15

last week? Mister Morel Paul.

1:39:17

Went three and three, whereas Mike and Hardy

1:39:19

went two and four. Fine season

1:39:21

totals Paul twelve and twelve,

1:39:24

Mike eleven and thirteen, Hardy ten

1:39:26

and fourteen.

1:39:27

Annie Buddies season. It

1:39:29

can all, it could all swing today.

1:39:32

Mac Jones passing yards two twenty

1:39:34

two and a half.

1:39:35

Oh boy, all right, I'm

1:39:37

gonna set the tone. I think this is a little bit of a low

1:39:39

number. I'm hopeful that Mac

1:39:41

can get back on track and go over

1:39:43

that. I'm gonna take the over.

1:39:45

Here we go.

1:39:48

I'm gonna take the over two. This

1:39:54

is a tough one because I could see the game. If the Patriots

1:39:56

get the lead, they want to run the ball and they're gonna

1:39:58

play like the Jets. Maybe the yards there, but I'm

1:40:00

gonna say over.

1:40:02

I'm going over this is gonna be a theme for me today.

1:40:04

I the Patriots doing

1:40:07

something, doing something worthy

1:40:09

of the uniform today and

1:40:11

it starts with Mac Jones over

1:40:13

to to two and a.

1:40:15

Half, Derek Carr passing touchdowns

1:40:17

one and a half.

1:40:21

I'm gonna take the under on that one.

1:40:24

Yeah, I don't see him throwing two touchdown passes.

1:40:26

I see them if they get down there. Maybe leaning

1:40:28

on Camara.

1:40:29

A little bit under, That's

1:40:32

fine. I just with with the

1:40:34

questions on the Patriots defense right now.

1:40:40

I feel like he has a chance to throw two touchdowns

1:40:42

today. I'm gonna go over.

1:40:43

Yeah, I'm gonna go over to just uh

1:40:46

don't really know what to expect from the Patriots cornerbacks.

1:40:48

How healthy are they are they able to go the

1:40:50

whole game? And then they've got some weapons. So I'm gonna

1:40:52

take the over.

1:40:53

This could be a new segment deuced down on defense,

1:40:55

you know, and just you know, you know one on

1:40:57

injuries. What do you what are you down on the defense for

1:41:00

this week?

1:41:00

Dues?

1:41:00

I just lost their two best players this week, that's all.

1:41:02

Oh.

1:41:04

I would just say, watched the

1:41:06

game last week like before the before

1:41:09

Judah went down, right, I mean I just.

1:41:12

Yeah, Hunter Henry receiving yards thirty

1:41:14

seven and a half.

1:41:15

Big over, cut it in half and double it

1:41:17

and double it again. Over over,

1:41:20

over all day pull me over.

1:41:21

Yeah. If I'm going over on Mac, I'm going over on Hunter

1:41:23

Henry too.

1:41:27

I've lived well going over with Hunter Henry.

1:41:29

I'm going to continue it. I'll make it unanimous.

1:41:31

Over total team points for the

1:41:33

Patriots twenty and a half.

1:41:35

You son of a bitch. All right, we

1:41:38

go back

1:41:40

to me. I gotta go under on

1:41:42

this one. It's they're a good defense. I think

1:41:44

Mac will be productive, but points have been in a

1:41:46

premium. I struggle to see

1:41:48

them getting out of the teens.

1:41:50

Paully Paul, Yeah, I'm gonna take the

1:41:53

the under as well. I just I

1:41:55

think if either one of these teams gets to twenty,

1:41:57

I think they would feel pretty good about it. So I'm

1:41:59

gonna take the under.

1:42:02

This is shaping up to be another situation

1:42:04

like we had with the Patriots and the Jets.

1:42:06

We mentioned this couple of times earlier in the show.

1:42:09

Everybody's prediction on this game is

1:42:11

the same. One of these weeks, it's going

1:42:13

to go against script and

1:42:15

I specifically

1:42:18

for the Patriots, I'm going over.

1:42:20

You go total touchdowns

1:42:23

in this game four and a half, that's

1:42:25

you, Paul.

1:42:27

I'm gonna take the under it again. I don't see

1:42:29

five touchdowns scored. You know,

1:42:31

obviously those defensive scores can come back and hot

1:42:33

me. But I'm gonna I'm gonna take the under.

1:42:36

Look, I'm going over. I've already got Derek

1:42:38

Carr at two passing touchdowns. I got the

1:42:40

Patriots scoring at least three. That feels

1:42:42

like five. So i gotta go over.

1:42:46

And I'm gonna go with under. I'm with Paul,

1:42:48

you guys are cowards. I am.

1:42:50

And the total score forty and a half.

1:42:54

Uh. As part of my score

1:42:56

prediction, which we will get to when we do the

1:43:00

Day six pack over.

1:43:02

Over for him, I'm I'm gonna go under. I think,

1:43:04

uh yeah, well, i'll reveal my score later.

1:43:07

But.

1:43:08

Yeah, I'm the same. I'm going to take the

1:43:10

the under. I just don't have a lot of faith in either

1:43:12

one of these offenses.

1:43:15

You guys are babies.

1:43:16

You got to have faith. The faith, the faith. What

1:43:20

you know, George Michael faith?

1:43:23

I thought you're doing the Olympus could cover didn't

1:43:26

sound like that either, which apparently

1:43:30

apparently George Michael is not a fan of

1:43:33

the Olympus could cover of his song and

1:43:36

then twelve years later he died. Coincidence.

1:43:38

I think Faith is George Michael's Faith

1:43:41

is an excellent song, Morrel, What's what's the matter

1:43:43

with you?

1:43:43

Olympus get version is way better?

1:43:46

I think that's blasphemous. H.

1:43:48

I like, I've never heard of the

1:43:51

George Michael song Freedom.

1:43:53

That's a jam.

1:43:54

That's yes.

1:43:55

Freedom ninety and direct the radio is

1:43:58

not a great song. Whim's Freedom not a great song.

1:44:00

Yeah, the Freedom ninety outstanding.

1:44:02

The video helped me blossom in the manhood.

1:44:04

It taught me a couple of things. Not

1:44:08

as much as the the Vinyls hit single,

1:44:10

but whatever. Okay,

1:44:12

all right, back to the phones eight five to five, Pats five

1:44:15

hundred, Web radio, Patriots dot Com. We'll

1:44:17

get to more of your emails, but first we go to Logan's.

1:44:20

Ten penalties nine yards in fairness,

1:44:22

the jack just got called for a terrible rough in the passer.

1:44:25

Call it on a sack. Well,

1:44:27

that'll help, all right, Logan.

1:44:28

Even it o. You made it fair. You made it fair, Logan, what's

1:44:31

up there?

1:44:31

We go?

1:44:32

I just want to give my two cents on the Belichick

1:44:35

mac Jones saying, and where I think Patriots

1:44:38

are going. I think it's

1:44:40

ride and die with Craft and Belichick. Unfortunately,

1:44:43

I love Bill, He's done good for us over the years,

1:44:46

but mac Jones is not the guy doesn't

1:44:48

have the eye of a tiger that

1:44:50

I want to kill you when you look at me wrong

1:44:53

on the field. You just don't

1:44:55

have it ready for Mike

1:44:57

McDaniel or that guy that's an asshole at the place.

1:45:00

All right, Patriot today,

1:45:03

Thank you Logan.

1:45:04

What a horrific if the Bill's just got called for

1:45:06

another penalty to wipe a touchdown off the board.

1:45:08

And I don't believe there's the fun Digs touched

1:45:10

anybody the call for offensive

1:45:12

passing appearance.

1:45:13

But I'm willing to get the rest of the benefit of

1:45:15

the down.

1:45:16

And this has not been a great day

1:45:18

for the officials.

1:45:20

Oh we got a penalty, We got another flag?

1:45:23

What a shot?

1:45:23

I think it's a touchdown anyway, Yeah it is.

1:45:26

But what is the penalty?

1:45:27

We won't Probably another offensive interference.

1:45:29

The way the game is gone, eleven for one

1:45:31

hundred and ninety yards under buffalolevel

1:45:35

are a McDermott not going to be

1:45:37

happy, Mike.

1:45:39

We have a Vaughan checking in says,

1:45:42

I don't know how to feel about this game. It says

1:45:44

snooze fast, but I'm optimistic we can

1:45:46

get the win. Do we really have a chance lose

1:45:48

this game and the season always over? In my eyes,

1:45:50

we've been trailing all the year. If the Saints go

1:45:53

up three nothing, I might give

1:45:55

the nod. You know.

1:45:56

That's another really underrated portion

1:45:58

of the first four games is the Patriots

1:46:00

have had all these

1:46:02

games and they haven't led

1:46:04

in any of them other than the one that they

1:46:07

wont.

1:46:07

Isn't that crazy? Uh? Just

1:46:09

Evan reporting same same line

1:46:11

in warm ups as last week, So no Riley Reef and

1:46:14

there Vederian Low remains at right tackle. And

1:46:17

just another thing, I'm really looking forward

1:46:19

to this game. I don't know what that guy like.

1:46:22

I just like, this is a game where it's

1:46:24

like it feels like there's things on the line, and you

1:46:26

know, it's not just like, oh, we got to beat a bad

1:46:28

team, to like it's a good team that you

1:46:30

really need to win and it's going to go one to two directions.

1:46:33

So I I disagree.

1:46:34

I'm just talking about the way they get the

1:46:36

Jets, Like, I think the Jets are a good

1:46:39

team, but that was a snooze fest.

1:46:41

Like, I just don't.

1:46:44

I don't see this game holding a ton of

1:46:46

entertainment value.

1:46:47

I guess I like within the game itself,

1:46:49

maybe not, but the result and how it

1:46:51

unfolds us to me, what's going to be entertaining.

1:46:53

Jack in California on the Patriots pregame

1:46:55

show, Hello, Jack, Good.

1:47:02

So I'm just this is they're they're playing bad

1:47:05

what definitely, pages

1:47:08

are playing a bad team this week, which grow

1:47:10

they're not.

1:47:12

They're not playing a bad team. They're playing a

1:47:14

team that's a middling team

1:47:17

that's two and two and is probably

1:47:19

a shoulder injury away from being three and one. Like

1:47:22

I I this is the part that I'm going to

1:47:24

go on Deuce's side on this, Like,

1:47:26

I don't know why this is quote the soft part

1:47:28

of the schedule, not saying

1:47:31

I.

1:47:31

Compare well, it's just comparatively

1:47:33

speaking. I think that's the only reason why.

1:47:35

But but the teams that they're playing are all

1:47:37

like them, They're

1:47:39

not like worse than them, which I think

1:47:41

is the way everybody is sort of characterizing

1:47:44

it. I think

1:47:46

the Saints.

1:47:47

You stun Jack into side. I mean chrisal Love

1:47:49

the Pictriots of anybody like Chrysal Lobby.

1:47:52

No, No, that's what I think a lot of people are

1:47:54

dying.

1:47:54

I mean, with Judah on out to the Patriots of anybody like Cameron

1:47:56

Jordan.

1:47:57

No, no, you

1:47:59

know, Davis

1:48:01

do they They.

1:48:02

Don't have anybody like Tomorrow Marshan La anybody

1:48:04

like Marshawn Lattimore with with with Gonzales.

1:48:06

Oh, Gonzales might have been trending in that way,

1:48:08

but I listen, I think the Patriots

1:48:10

have every opportunity to win this game today because the Saints

1:48:13

offense is struggling just like the Patriots

1:48:15

is. And I think that's the secret sauce where the Patriots

1:48:17

keep the score down and find a way to win.

1:48:20

But I don't think the Saints are

1:48:22

a bad team.

1:48:23

I mean, they got they got talent on offense, and that's just

1:48:25

like That's what scares me about today is like

1:48:27

what if today is the day that that offense

1:48:29

kind of gets cooking and finds their stride. With Kamara

1:48:31

back for a couple of weeks, he's you know, they

1:48:34

know what they're doing with him now, and it opens some things

1:48:36

up like it's I think you'll know pretty

1:48:38

quick how this game's gonna go.

1:48:40

Let's grab a couple more emails here. Bill

1:48:43

has been out coached and out drafted for the better

1:48:45

part of four seasons. Obviously, can't draft

1:48:47

offensive talent, Stuck in his own

1:48:50

philosophies. Forget about trying to make the

1:48:52

playoffs. Mister Kraft

1:48:54

needs to bite the bullet and hit the nuke button

1:48:56

for the future of the franchise,

1:48:59

build the statues, and move on. That is

1:49:01

Mad Chad from Atlanta. Mad

1:49:03

Chat.

1:49:04

I like that.

1:49:05

I like Glad Chad.

1:49:06

A lot of people just you know, willing to

1:49:08

move on at this point. Hey,

1:49:11

guys, thanks for taking my email this

1:49:13

morning. As Tony in Canada, you know

1:49:15

what, my definition of insanity is

1:49:17

doing the same thing over and over expecting

1:49:19

a different results. So I feel about the

1:49:21

Patriots the last three or four years.

1:49:24

So his questions, I'll pick one or

1:49:26

two of them here based on our current roster. Do you think

1:49:28

our win losses would be much different with

1:49:31

any other coach other than Belichick?

1:49:35

Not at this point. I mean they've won one game

1:49:37

now.

1:49:38

I still have a lot of faith in Belichick,

1:49:41

So I'm.

1:49:42

Sure he's selling the right things. I just I mean, we're

1:49:44

starting to see how the players are

1:49:46

coming together. What is this twenty twenty three Patriots

1:49:49

team? Like? How much are they buying what Bill

1:49:51

is saying? I'm sure that he knows the things they need to

1:49:53

do to win the game today. But do they

1:49:55

have the talent and the want to execute

1:49:57

those things?

1:49:58

Tony says, which is more likely

1:50:00

to happen Patriots winning a playoff

1:50:02

game where Taylor Swift and Travis Kelcey

1:50:05

breaking up? Come

1:50:07

on, now, the breakup

1:50:10

is imminent.

1:50:11

I feel they're not gonna be together forever.

1:50:13

No, No, it's

1:50:17

just that, it's just my feelings on that. Okay,

1:50:20

I'm close up with Lawrence.

1:50:21

Guy there looking good.

1:50:24

Yeah, let's do the Sunday six pack. Let's roll

1:50:26

with it.

1:50:27

This is the Sunday six pack.

1:50:29

So kick backing lit up, this up,

1:50:31

gets in a getting the pitch back. You better bring

1:50:33

a big stack, get a mixed jack.

1:50:35

I came to win again.

1:50:36

This is the Sunday sixth bad.

1:50:39

All right?

1:50:39

What happened last week?

1:50:40

In the In the games, Mike

1:50:42

and Paul three and two, Hardy two

1:50:44

and three bring the season totals

1:50:47

to Mike thirteen to five and two, Hardy

1:50:49

ten eight in two, Paul eight ten and

1:50:52

two.

1:50:52

All right, so we had the Chuckles five pack

1:50:54

last week, we got the full blown Sunday six

1:50:56

pack. This week, imagine we got

1:50:58

three one o'clocker three one o'clockers,

1:51:01

actually four, but okay three

1:51:03

other than the pants game. All right, that's correct.

1:51:06

The two and two Houston Texans at the two and two

1:51:08

Atlanta Falcons Atlanta minus two and a half.

1:51:11

Yeah, I'm gonna go with the Texans on this one. I

1:51:15

do like the Falcons. I like what they're building there, maybe

1:51:17

except for the quarterback, but CJ. Straut's been

1:51:19

playing well. I'm gonna take the road dogs.

1:51:21

Yeah.

1:51:21

I kind of have been intrigued by

1:51:23

Houston's play in the early going, but I am

1:51:25

going to take the home team in this game. I

1:51:27

think it's a difference between sort of surprising

1:51:30

teams and then all of a sudden, you know, hey Houston,

1:51:33

you know, mount then to some expectation.

1:51:35

So I'm going to.

1:51:36

Take Atlanta a little water at Lavo.

1:51:38

Yeah, with Houston this week, I'm with you, Paul.

1:51:40

I'm taking the Falcons laying the two and a half.

1:51:42

At home the one in three New York Giants

1:51:45

at the three and one Miami Dolphins Miami

1:51:47

minus eleven and a half.

1:51:48

Big number, Paul No Saquon. It

1:51:50

is a big number. However, I am

1:51:52

gonna lay the points. I think Miami is

1:51:55

going to bounce back from their

1:51:57

game last week and and put

1:51:59

up some big numbers Miami.

1:52:03

By the way, a big third down completion by Trevor

1:52:06

Lawrence to convert a third and four on a deep

1:52:08

fade here, oh, down the sideline.

1:52:10

That's a heck of a throw.

1:52:13

Huge day for Calvin Ridley too. Let's

1:52:16

see that puts Lawrence

1:52:18

over three hundred in Calvin Ridley seven for one

1:52:20

two.

1:52:21

So it's okay, big day for Can we trade

1:52:23

for him?

1:52:23

Agent zero? I'm just I'm playing a little

1:52:26

Texas hold him with Deuce here, trying to figure out who

1:52:28

he's gonna pick. I got to pick against him. I'm going

1:52:31

Giants.

1:52:32

Wow, I'm

1:52:34

gonna go Miami. I'm gonna lay the points.

1:52:37

Yep.

1:52:38

The three and one Baltimore Ravens at the two and

1:52:40

two Pittsburgh Steelers Baltimore minus

1:52:42

four and a half.

1:52:43

Scott Zolac shocked the world by picking

1:52:45

against the Steelers this past week he

1:52:47

could pick any game on the board. He took

1:52:49

the Ravens laying four and a half. So, uh,

1:52:52

that's part of one of my cards, one

1:52:54

of my parlays that I have gone this week. So I

1:52:56

gotta go Ravens just for rooting interest alone.

1:52:59

Damn Ravens two.

1:53:02

So I am gonna just go buy history

1:53:04

here. I know that the Steelers are banged up and Kenny

1:53:07

Pickett's banged up, but I'm gonna I just

1:53:09

these games tend to be decided by a field goal.

1:53:11

I think Baltimore will win, but I will take the points.

1:53:14

Pittsburgh

1:53:18

the four to oh Philadelphia Eagles at the two and

1:53:20

two Los Angeles Rams Philadelphia minus

1:53:22

four.

1:53:23

Fact you do?

1:53:23

Oh?

1:53:24

This is uh, this feels like Paul's a red Zone

1:53:26

Paul pick of the week right here, the four

1:53:28

to twenty five game. But I am going to take

1:53:30

the Eggles on the road against the ROMs.

1:53:33

Who'd you go? Raven Steelers, Paul, Steelers,

1:53:36

Okay, Steelers, all.

1:53:38

Right, and you're going to Philly.

1:53:39

Yeah, And I'm gonna take Philly as well. I

1:53:42

was very tempted to take the ROMs.

1:53:44

You know they're getting Cooper cup Back. I

1:53:47

think they've played pretty well for the most part. That's

1:53:49

gonna do it. I think for the Jags, looks.

1:53:51

Like atn is loose. Wow.

1:53:54

And I'm

1:53:56

gonna take the Eagles against

1:53:59

my better judgment.

1:54:00

Yeah, I like the Eagles in this one too.

1:54:03

Sunday Night Football the three and one Dallas Cowboys

1:54:06

at the four and oh San Francisco forty nine Ers,

1:54:08

San Francisco minus three and a half.

1:54:10

Game of the Week.

1:54:11

What do you got, Paul, I'm gonna take

1:54:13

the Niners, and I kind of don't

1:54:15

think it's gonna be very close. I think the Niners

1:54:17

are gonna blow them out.

1:54:20

I think it'll be close. I think it'll be a I think it'll

1:54:22

be a touchdown. But I'm taking the forty nine Ers.

1:54:24

Yeah, I'm with you, guys, forty nine.

1:54:25

Ers in the two and two New Orleans

1:54:27

Saints at the one and three New England Patriots New England

1:54:30

minus one.

1:54:31

Not only am I taking the Patriots, but I'm taking

1:54:34

them to get off the schneid offensively. I'm

1:54:36

taking them to go out there and figure

1:54:39

out a few things today. With the final score

1:54:41

of twenty

1:54:45

seven seventeen,

1:54:50

Wow, it's a lot of points.

1:54:52

I like you, Saint. I like you on the

1:54:54

Saints number there. I don't know the Patriots

1:54:56

quite that high, but I'm gonna get the Patriots to nineteen.

1:54:59

Somehow find a way to pull this game out.

1:55:02

I still think it's a coin flip, but I'm.

1:55:03

Gonna take the Pets nineteen seventeen.

1:55:05

Nineteen seventeen.

1:55:09

Yeah, I don't have a ton of faith in

1:55:11

this pick. I am going to go with

1:55:13

the home team, and I

1:55:16

just feel like they will have enough at

1:55:18

home to get over a struggling

1:55:21

offense with an injured quarterback, and

1:55:24

I think that that might be enough to come

1:55:26

away with a win. I do not think this game is going to be

1:55:28

easy. I

1:55:30

have New England thirteen to ten.

1:55:33

Oh,

1:55:35

I see why you said you weren't looking forward to it. That's his slock.

1:55:39

Well, I mean I was nineteen seventeen.

1:55:41

There could be nineteen seventeen. I won't feel any different

1:55:43

about it. But it's just I

1:55:46

just don't see either one of these teams putting

1:55:49

sixty minutes of good offense together.

1:55:50

A couple more emails to get to it here,

1:55:53

we got one from Brett in Denver. This is

1:55:55

sour grapes, but I don't care. Cole

1:55:57

Strange is already bordering on a first

1:55:59

round bust, and Bill needs

1:56:02

to be called out for it. Taking

1:56:04

an extremely talented guard in the first round

1:56:06

is almost indefensible. Taking

1:56:08

a guard with potential in the first round

1:56:11

is inexcusable. The offensive

1:56:13

line is bad, and Strange was supposed to be a

1:56:15

part of the solution, not part of the problem. When he's

1:56:17

not injured, he's inconsistent at best. Help

1:56:19

me understand how this happened.

1:56:21

Here, You're right, I

1:56:23

don't know. I don't know what else to say. I mean, I

1:56:25

think we were all like kind of holding our breath, saying,

1:56:28

hey, maybe we'll come back and Cole Strange will have added

1:56:30

twenty pounds and he'll look more stout

1:56:32

and he'll look improved. And

1:56:35

like we've said, he got injured within ten minutes the pad's

1:56:37

coming on, and he's been dealing with a knee injury

1:56:39

ever since. I don't even know how close he was

1:56:42

to full health when he got back, so it's hard

1:56:44

to really truly judge him. But all I know is

1:56:46

that based on when he came back, he looked pretty much the same

1:56:48

as he did as a rookie and if that continues,

1:56:51

he could lose his job to Antonio Maffi, which

1:56:54

you know, just everything you said is right. You can't

1:56:56

miss on a guard like that.

1:56:58

I think we're gonna end up getting an onside kick in the Bills

1:57:00

game because it's taken him exactly two plays to get

1:57:02

to the three yard line. Yeah wow, wow,

1:57:05

forty three yard pass to Hardy and

1:57:07

not not you Hardy and their twenty nine

1:57:09

yard to Gabe Davis has

1:57:12

moved them from their own twenty five to the Jacksonville

1:57:14

three.

1:57:14

Started playing football a little late today, Buffalo.

1:57:19

Yeah, josh oh, josh,

1:57:21

I thought he was gonna take that one in on his

1:57:23

own. Why don't you trade draft picks?

1:57:25

This is from Ramon and Tampa guys.

1:57:28

I'm totally against giving up any draft picks at

1:57:30

this time, mainly for the fact that Bill will

1:57:32

likely trade down to fill these

1:57:34

missing picks, and

1:57:36

we don't know that

1:57:39

just we know that just doesn't

1:57:41

help our cause. So no,

1:57:43

do not trade any draft picks unless it's

1:57:45

for a certified stud that will be on

1:57:47

the team at least three years. It's

1:57:49

time for the coaches and players to put up or shut up.

1:57:52

Show what you can do or pave the road for your

1:57:54

exit. At this point it

1:57:56

should be Jonathan should be evaluating

1:57:58

for the future. That's from in Tampa. Yeah,

1:58:02

I mean with a loss today, there's just going to be more

1:58:05

and more of that type of conversation

1:58:07

and that type of narrative. So they need

1:58:09

the win today. They need the win today. Final thoughts

1:58:11

heading out onto.

1:58:12

The field there, Douce need to win, find

1:58:14

a way. Love to see them find something

1:58:16

new, But at this point in the season, you just want to stay

1:58:19

relevant and not a one to four team. So just

1:58:21

get a win today at all.

1:58:23

I think Mike had it perfect there. You just want to You

1:58:25

got to find a way to stay relevant. And

1:58:27

I think for Mac Jones, this is a really important

1:58:29

game. I think he needs to show the

1:58:31

ability to bounce back.

1:58:33

It's big Mac Jones Day. He's got to go out there

1:58:35

and show some wherewith all some ability

1:58:37

to be an NFL quarterback. You

1:58:40

know, to say again what I said earlier

1:58:42

in the show, show that you're worthy of being

1:58:44

a starting quarterback in the NFL in your third

1:58:46

year. Last week you didn't look like that. You got

1:58:48

to look like it. You got to look like that this afternoon,

1:58:51

and I look, the win, of course

1:58:54

is the thing, but if it's thirteen to ten,

1:58:56

you know, if it goes to Paul's prediction, I

1:58:59

know, doesn't change how a lot

1:59:01

of people feel. And we got we got

1:59:03

some of that after the Jets win. We had

1:59:05

people who felt better after losses

1:59:07

then they felt against Uh

1:59:10

after that Jets game, you know, you got to show

1:59:13

something. You gotta show you got to show the

1:59:15

fans that you know, this team has the ability

1:59:18

to do something more. All right,

1:59:20
