I think a lot of true crime fans would like this. The journalists were professional and enjoyable to listen to. I just thought it was way to ramble-y and included a lot of content that wasn't relevant or attention grasping. Made it seem like it lasted forever. That, and the fact that they added like 3 extra episodes. Really just lost my attention.
This is journalism at its finest. Not only does it shed light on a case that almost does not have its equal. It also highlights multiple problems concerning the authorities we entrust with solving murder cases. An addictive, but dark, story.
Brought to us by the BBC Paradise is the story of a British Couple found dead just off the coast of Belize. How did a young Doctor and his Lawyer girlfriend end up tied to motor parts? This is the story of Chris Farmer and Peta Frampton and how their goal to see the world came to an early end when they boarded a boat set for Paradise with Silas Duane Boston and his two young boys. These two young adults had their entire lives ahead of them and through the hands of a twisted individual we start to see there may be more victims than just these two as the true story of Silas Duane Boston emerges. But through the encounters his son speaks of we start to question what is real and what his adolescent memory is recalling. Sadly Peta and Chris are dead and that is confirmed through the series and sadly his boys recalled all too well the circumstances of their death so there is no question that their father was the killer who escaped justice for far too many years. So if you like True Crime stories like Finding Cleo, Death In Ice Valley, Someone Knows Something and several others I’ve covered than please go listen to Paradise.
One of the best True Crime podcasts I have listened to. I was recommended this one by a good friend and was so happy I was. The hosts do a great job with this and I was riveted until the end. If you are a fun good deep dive true crime you need to give this a listen for sure.
The investigation was exhaustive but I did feel there was more than a touch of torture porn in ep 2. There is a way to build empathy with suffering without seeming to almost relish the details (as demonstrated in the LA Times podcast "The Man in the Window")
I can’t express how excellent this was. I really felt part of it and could not stop listening to it. It was very sad but a very well made podcast. I will listen to it again in a few months.
A totally shocking and heartbreaking story which is well told with some amazing journalism and hard work behind it. Only reason not 5 stars is there is just too much repetition which gets a wee bit frustrating but top marks to Dan for bringing this story to peoples attention. Just the worst possible scenario anyone can imagine.
Paradise - Deeply disturbing and thoroughly thought provoking. It's difficult to say it has been enjoyable listening but is, undoubtedly, the best podcast I have ever heard. The ending was deeply poignant ".... sunrise and sunset...", which will stay with me for a very long time.
