Welcome to the first post of OWNING THE TRUTH!

First, let me just say we're glad you're here. We are two men who have been to the ends of ourselves, fighting for our lives but by grace and love are finding our way back to fullness and authenticity. We don't pretend to have all the answers here, but what we do have you can't argue with, our stories and the truth. We believe there is a definitive truth founded upon biblical understanding. Anything else is, by nature, not truth. Therefore, truth is absolute and it can be known. We are all on a journey to find it. That absolute truth is a trap because we can't move ourselves away from it once we realize it. The beautiful paradox is that absolute truth is really the ultimate freedom. However, sometimes what we believe to be truth is really just an acceptance of circumstances in the moment and we buy into a lie because its packaging is more enticing than the actual truth.  We understand that ourselves and there will be times that we will own when that happens in our stories or conversations. We welcome challenge and conversation surrounding this. We invite you to reach out to us, but we ask that it be civil discourse and from a place of wanting to grow spiritually, intellectually, and emotionally. 

Second, this isn't your pastor's blog or podcast. If what you seek is watered down, feel good, skim the surface, "please come back next week" [cautious] material then this might not be the place for you. We challenge you to keep listening even if you find yourself disagreeing with us on any topic we may discuss. There are no "safe spaces" here and our hearts are so warm that "snowflakes" only melt. 

Lastly, after listening to our podcast (here) we welcome your feedback. We also want to know what issues are troubling you in life. Are you having a crisis of faith? Does your pastor not discuss things that you think need to be clarified or brought up in order to understand others, love them better, and ultimately live a fuller and richer life in Jesus?  Did you read something somewhere that really disturbed you that people aren't talking about in your church or community and should? This is our first post and podcast, and we are excited to spend this time in hopes that someone, even if it is just one person, finds it encouraging, insightful, challenging and motivating. We briefly touch on my questions surrounding a particular issue. The questions themselves may sound strange or even off-putting, and some only lightly touched on. We know this and will be revisiting some of the questions in later episodes to unpack them even more.
