I always say we don't have time to hear why the haters

0:03

love us today. What's

0:15

up everyone? Welcome to another episode of

0:17

On Display with me Melissa Gorga. I'm

0:20

super excited today. You guys know I

0:22

love when I have Housewives on and

0:24

I have a juicy podcast for you

0:27

today because

0:29

I have such a great guest. She's

0:31

a successful businesswoman. She's the

0:33

host of the Wild Rose Podcast. I

0:36

mean let's be real, you all know her as

0:38

the fan favorite on the Real

0:41

Housewives of Salt Lake City. Ladies

0:43

and gentlemen, I have the lovely Whitney

0:45

Rose with me today. Hi.

0:48

Hi. Wow. What an introduction.

0:51

You make me blush. Oh, well good. That's

0:53

what I want to do. How are you honey? So

0:55

good to see you. Yeah, so good to see

0:57

you too. You have to bear with me today.

1:00

I just got a moxie laser so I look

1:02

terrifying. No. So wait,

1:04

are you red? I am so red. I don't

1:07

know if it reads through the screen or not

1:09

but I have red dots all over. I see.

1:11

I see. Wait, so what was that? Was

1:13

that like a, is it like a fractal? Like what kind of laser is

1:15

that? You know what? To be

1:17

honest with you, I have no idea. I

1:20

just know that it's the only

1:22

laser. Well there's a couple lasers. I

1:24

have really bad melasma so I have to be careful.

1:26

I don't see why. Wait, so do

1:28

I. That's why I want to know if this

1:31

is safe for melasma. It's for melasma and

1:33

rosacea. So it treats, it has two

1:36

different like types of

1:38

color, red and blue. So

1:40

it treats all of your problems

1:42

like melasma, rosacea, redness, blue veins.

1:45

It gets amazing. Really? But

1:48

you look like I have been

1:50

walking around like a freaking freak

1:52

for the last two days. I went to my daughter's

1:54

soccer training last night with

1:56

a new team and everyone was just staring at me because

1:59

I was bright red. swollen and I just like I

2:01

have no shame. You have no shame. And

2:03

here is the game and I'm here for it. You

2:06

just have to make the announcement. Yep, just

2:08

had a facial. We're good. Just had a

2:10

laser, like all good. And isn't it kind

2:12

of funny? Because now you're obviously you're known

2:14

over there. I'm sure you're on a hit

2:17

TV show, which we are going

2:19

to talk about that show a little bit later on.

2:21

But is it kind of odd for you, especially like

2:23

so you said last night you went and it's a

2:25

new team. So there's all new moms and like, it's

2:28

like I've noticed even for me, like once they

2:30

get used to you being there, it's like no

2:32

big deal. But when you enter the room and it's

2:34

like all new people kind of starts all over

2:36

again. Right? Yeah, it's almost it's crazy.

2:38

Because it's you know, season four was such a

2:40

big season for us. So I would say it's

2:43

even crazier now. People,

2:45

people kind of, you know, it's

2:47

almost like that. When you

2:50

walk in, right? And it's like, instead of seeing

2:52

the glam Whitney, it's like here I am in

2:54

all my glory after a laser treatment. Of

2:56

course. Your life like I

2:59

just learned that I can't care

3:01

about how I look all the time or, you

3:03

know, I've got to do

3:06

me too. 1000% I just I just

3:08

I don't know if it was a thing as

3:10

I'm getting older, if I'm just getting more comfortable

3:12

in my skin. But I have finally stopped putting

3:15

any type of like tinted moisturizer

3:17

on or like any type of foundation when

3:19

I go to the gym, like I used

3:21

to and I'm a gym

3:23

girl. So I go to the gym every morning,

3:25

almost every morning. So I used to wake up

3:28

and be like, I can't just put

3:30

lotion on and leave like I need to curl

3:32

my eyelashes, I need to like put it the

3:34

tinted boys, but it would be uncomfortable when I

3:36

work out. I don't want anything on my skin

3:38

when I'm like sweating. So I finally

3:40

I want to say within the last year, just

3:43

wake up, put moisturizer on and walk out

3:45

the door and just don't like

3:47

I don't give a shit anymore. Even right now I

3:49

don't have a stitch of makeup on I just put

3:51

lip gloss on at all times because I feel like

3:54

you could fool people if you have lip gloss

3:56

on that's the way to go. I always keep

3:58

lip gloss in my pocket. Nothing else. I am

4:00

not seeing on right now besides my red,

4:02

beautiful, catchy face, but I think that

4:04

that's called self love. You're

4:06

like, I think it does

4:08

come with age and experience and wisdom, but

4:10

also when you become so comfortable

4:12

with who you are, and I feel like Half

4:15

Life has really taught me that, honestly. For

4:17

sure, 100%. Okay

4:20

with not being

4:22

in full glam all the time. Like, because I used to do

4:24

the same, I'm like, why am I getting ready to go to

4:27

the gym? Who am I trying to impress? It's

4:29

so true, and I do think people respect,

4:32

they respect us more when you walk in

4:34

without the makeup on. A hot

4:36

mess like most moms are when they're running around in

4:38

the morning with their kids or like whatever it is.

4:41

And I feel like it's just, I don't know,

4:43

I feel like it kind of just makes you

4:45

more relatable and it's just, it's better. It

4:47

took me a minute though. I used to

4:50

always, always be like, I can't go without

4:52

everything. So it's like, it's relieving. It

4:54

is, I think. And then you find

4:57

a new sense of confidence and

4:59

sexiness in being in your own

5:02

skin. And that is empowering as a woman, I

5:04

think. For sure, for sure. Is it weird when

5:06

you go to the gays? Does everyone come talk

5:08

to you? Do they ask you questions? Do they

5:10

kind of respect that you're there with your kids?

5:12

How is that going now? Because you've been on

5:14

the show for how long? This

5:17

will be, that was our fourth season.

5:19

And I don't think it's officially been

5:21

announced, but we are heading into another

5:24

one. So. Well, I would

5:26

imagine after that reunion, I don't think

5:28

you're giving us any, we

5:30

think we all knew that was coming for sure.

5:32

Yeah. I think we're safe

5:34

to talk about it because it's been all over

5:36

Instagram that Monica talked about coming back. So,

5:39

yeah. It's been nuts,

5:41

it has changed. Like season

5:43

one, everyone was so excited to be like, are

5:45

you Whitney? You know, and then now

5:47

it's just crazy. A lot of, I would

5:50

say in Utah, around my community, people are

5:53

just used to it. But when I go

5:55

somewhere new, it's definitely people want

5:57

to come talk to me, talk about it.

6:00

And what's fascinating, you probably get this

6:02

with your show too, is a lot of

6:04

male fans. A lot

6:06

of husbands are turning into housewives now.

6:10

I'm shocked by the amount of men that come up

6:12

on the sports fields and are like, you

6:14

know what, I have to admit, I'm a huge

6:16

fan of your show. My wife made me watch it and

6:19

now I'm addicted. All day long.

6:21

If you think that happens there, could you imagine the

6:23

jersey? It's

6:25

crazy. So prominent on jersey and

6:28

obviously my husband's very

6:30

known on this show. So everywhere we

6:32

go, it's men. It's a lot of

6:34

men. You would be surprised. I

6:37

feel like your show also highlights

6:39

the men, I think, a little bit more

6:41

than the other shows. So

6:43

that makes sense that the men

6:45

are watching you guys a lot

6:47

too. I feel like when we

6:49

incorporate the men, it drags

6:51

in the men to be able to relate a little bit. You

6:54

can see the husband and wife issues

6:57

that are going on and they'll relate.

6:59

Even when Joe watches the

7:01

other shows, he's like, see, you do that.

7:04

He's watching Kyle and Mauricio right now

7:06

and little things. He's like, see what

7:09

happens after time. Everybody changes and blah,

7:11

blah, blah. The men

7:13

like to relate to what's going on

7:15

with you girls. They

7:17

like to relate. And you and your husband, you

7:20

guys have a very similar relationship, I would

7:23

say, to Joe and

7:25

I, right? Where it was hard for

7:27

you. In the beginning, he was

7:29

a very protective husband and it

7:31

was hard to maneuver your own found success

7:33

and being on the show. Tell me about

7:36

that a little bit. Yeah.

7:38

And what's hard because first time before

7:40

I came outside, I realized I had

7:42

the most cush housewife life ever. Like,

7:45

why did I go chase bigger dreams

7:47

and ambitions? Because I did. I like

7:49

had my responsibilities as a home and

7:52

the kids and Justin provided

7:54

a very beautiful life for us. And

7:58

he's always been in support of me though. Like when

8:00

I wanted to go back to school, when

8:03

I wanted to start my business, when I wanted to do

8:06

the show, he's always been my biggest cheerleader.

8:09

But the dynamic shift was what we didn't

8:11

expect to come, right? You just think that

8:13

you're going to keep growing and doing all

8:15

these things and nothing will change. Right.

8:19

The truth of it is, is that as I

8:21

started all of this, I'm now no longer able

8:23

to dedicate full time to the children, full time

8:25

to him, full time to the house. And it

8:28

has been very difficult because he is

8:31

18 years older than me. So

8:33

he was raised in a very like

8:36

traditional family, LDS. This

8:39

is the life that we know, but Justin

8:42

has an open, like he's an

8:44

open person. He has an open mind, open heart.

8:47

And he's always, he just

8:49

loves me so much that it took

8:51

time. But I would

8:53

say we're at a place now where it's like 50, 50. It's

8:56

really truly is when we go to

8:59

make a decision, when we view the

9:02

family, it's no longer just me

9:04

making decisions for the family and

9:06

he making decisions financially. It's

9:08

what are we going to do about the kids? What are we

9:10

going to do with this property? What are we going to do

9:12

with this account? Like it's really

9:14

cool to see. Yeah. Isn't

9:16

that a beautiful thing? I have to say

9:19

that's a beautiful thing. And it's like, you

9:21

know, it's sometimes it used to like,

9:23

irk me. I don't know if irk is the

9:26

right way, but like the right word rather, but

9:28

like, you know, it's like, did

9:30

I have to get on the housewives

9:32

to realize that like I needed to

9:34

make more decisions and that I needed

9:36

to, you know, to expand

9:38

in everything I was doing. But

9:40

I'm very thankful for the

9:43

TV show and for the housewives a lot

9:45

of times. And I'm sure you feel the

9:47

same because you get into your little bubble

9:49

and you don't realize that like everything is

9:51

just kind of happening around you while you're

9:53

holding down the fort, while you're holding down

9:55

the kids, while you're, you know,

9:57

you're making every life, family

9:59

life. perfect, so to speak, right?

10:01

And making everything cute and sweet and nice

10:03

so that your kids are happy. Your husband

10:06

lives great life. You're a great wife, but

10:08

then you're missing this little piece of something

10:10

that you want to do for you. Right?

10:13

Yeah. Jumping on house wise kind of opened

10:15

that door for me. And I feel like

10:17

it's very similar with you as well. Absolutely.

10:21

I've always worked in some capacity since

10:23

I was a married, but never had

10:26

I had to jump into the role of

10:28

being a provider. I mean, last year, one

10:31

year ago, I was the sole

10:33

provider of the family because Justin had

10:35

to sit out of his job for

10:37

a year because of the show. Yeah,

10:40

it's been, it has come up as

10:42

child, but like, it really has shown

10:44

me that if I

10:46

can do anything like if

10:48

I really try, I have

10:51

the confidence and the posture now to go

10:53

get it. Like it's taught me to be

10:55

a smarter business woman to be more creative,

10:58

think outside of the box and really

11:00

push my strength because if you can

11:02

stay on a halfway show for four

11:04

years and deal with everything that comes

11:06

with that, I think you can

11:09

do anything as a woman. Oh yeah.

11:11

You become a superwoman. Try 14

11:13

years and then talk to me.

11:15

I can't believe it because I have so

11:17

many questions for you too. Like feel

11:19

free, feel free. Ask me whatever you want.

11:22

I feel like I just, I love your

11:24

show. I've watched you from the beginning and

11:27

I just really admire the way that you've

11:29

handled raising your family in a

11:31

public eye, like with such grace

11:33

and you've handled your marriage, everything

11:35

about your personal life, you've done

11:37

it so gracefully. And you

11:40

know, I'm at the point now where my kids,

11:42

when they started, they were nine and six, another

11:44

13 and 11. And I'm like, how do you

11:47

protect your kids in this process from

11:49

the fans, social media, the haters,

11:51

the, all of it, right? Like,

11:54

I don't know about you, but it's been interesting

11:56

dynamic between my daughter and I, and she turned

12:00

Oh, well, yes, very interesting. Well,

12:02

how invested is your daughter

12:04

on the show? And has it changed her life

12:06

a little bit that she's a 13-year-old girl at

12:09

school on TV? How is

12:11

that growing? It's exactly

12:13

where the hard. She loves to film. She

12:16

loves to process. But what's hard now is

12:18

the kids at school will come and talk

12:20

to her about things

12:23

I've said or done, things she did or has

12:25

said on the show. They'll pull up

12:27

old pictures from Instagram. And

12:30

it's just because she's learning how to

12:32

have what

12:34

we have, not caring what people think,

12:36

that resilience. But geez, I'm like,

12:39

how can I keep moving forward and protect

12:41

them? It's hard. Honestly, I

12:43

feel like I've been navigating that for many

12:45

years now. I

12:48

think each child is probably

12:50

individual for each child. Because some

12:52

of them, like, for

12:54

instance, my Gino. He could care less. He

12:57

doesn't want to know anything about the fame,

12:59

about the show. He's an

13:01

athlete. He actually doesn't

13:03

want to walk around the school with me

13:05

and everyone looking at me. He's not into

13:07

that. Where I feel like Antonia is a

13:09

little bit more like, she's cool about it.

13:11

And so is Joey. But Gino is very

13:14

like, we do not want the attention. We're

13:17

not the housewives family. He's

13:20

just not into it. So I feel like with

13:22

every kid, you kind of have to

13:24

figure out the balance. But if

13:27

I can give any advice, I'd say, I

13:29

constantly teach them that the outside world is

13:32

the outside world. Like, it has nothing to

13:34

do with us or how we function

13:36

our family. And that they know what a

13:38

hater is. They know how

13:40

to handle a hater. They know to

13:42

ignore it. They definitely know not to

13:45

believe everything they read. So

13:47

they're very good at like, and obviously, there's a

13:49

lot of stuff about us in the press constantly.

13:51

So yeah, especially Antonia, I

13:53

feel like she's older and more in

13:55

tuned with Instagram and all this. Like,

13:58

for instance, I'll give you a perfect example. I'll

14:00

never have her block like we never really discuss

14:03

like block this hater do this do that But

14:05

once in a while there'll be a bad

14:07

one right like a real bad one That's like

14:09

then the kind that like wakes up in the

14:12

morning and doesn't stop until they go to sleep

14:14

Like it's become their literal job to be a

14:16

hater on me or my family or whatever it

14:18

might be So when I

14:20

see one like that, which I saw

14:22

one actually today I which

14:25

I wasn't even aware of I text her

14:27

and I said block that account because I

14:29

don't want that I'm never saying anything to her.

14:31

I don't even want them Watching

14:33

what she does, you know, so

14:36

very rare, but I do tell her I'll be like

14:38

I don't like this account block it and she will

14:40

and she blocks them, you know But she's also 18

14:43

and she's a little older. So I feel like she

14:45

gets it She's she's very good

14:47

at like just brushing it off. She's

14:49

like, oh please and she also realizes that

14:51

if you put a post out And this

14:53

is advice for you to Whitney because I

14:55

think as housewives we all do this We'll

14:58

put a post out right there will be 2,000

15:02

positive comments 2,000 everyone

15:04

we love you. You're the best Yeah,

15:06

and then there's like three negatives and what do

15:09

we do? We pay attention

15:11

to the three negative people that

15:14

like wrote something on this

15:16

post Right when there's three

15:18

thousand positive comments. It's a

15:20

terrible So it's if you

15:22

do notice the same name, which I'm sure

15:25

you've seen this the same person the same

15:27

person Just get rid of them and like

15:29

you're almost helping the hater as well because

15:32

they're obviously obsessed right? They're fixated. So it's

15:34

like here go live your life. Now. You

15:36

don't have to watch me anymore Go go

15:38

figure yourself out, you know, honestly, the

15:40

best thing that Instagram has done is when

15:43

you block One of

15:45

those haters it blocks any account

15:47

they create in future, which is

15:49

amazing. How great? We

15:51

had I don't my way around Instagram

15:54

trolls. We've had a major problem in Salt Lake

15:56

City with though I can't wait to talk about

15:58

that. I'm like I am like foam at

16:00

the mouth to get to that part of the

16:02

conversation. And I went, oh my

16:04

God, is this your puppy? Yeah, this is

16:06

my puppy. She was chewing up my son's

16:08

game, so I had to. She

16:11

is so cute. What kind of dog is that?

16:13

She's a Cavapoo. This is Rosie.

16:15

Hi, Rosie. My sister has

16:18

a Rosie, the same exact dog, only big. So

16:20

cute. I have a big one

16:22

too, but she is a handful. Oh

16:25

my God, she's so cute. Does she eat like

16:27

your high-end shoes? That's what little

16:29

dogs usually do. Oh my God, no,

16:31

but look what she just did. She

16:33

just chewed up an Xbox cord.

16:36

Oh no. Oh my God. That

16:39

is so, she's so cute though. She's

16:41

worth it. Just get another cord. I would

16:43

keep her in her crate, but she'd bark

16:45

through the whole thing. So. Unbelievable.

16:48

That's like another guest on the day. It's

16:50

fine. Don't worry. She's adorable. But

16:52

anyway, I mean, to get back to this

16:54

whole thing, I do think it's unfortunate because

16:56

our kids are like an extension of ourselves.

16:58

And I think some like

17:01

really mean people think they can go

17:03

through our kids, right, to get to

17:05

us. So we do really need to

17:07

protect our kids and just teach them how to avoid people

17:09

who want to do nothing but hurt us and

17:12

be able to see that that's like a red

17:14

flag and that's a bad person. And

17:16

to almost like not feel sorry for yourself, feel

17:18

sorry for the person that's doing that. Like they're

17:20

obviously not living the best life and they're fixated

17:22

on you. And I always say

17:24

like, they're not truly your

17:26

hater because if the whole feed is written

17:29

about you, they're upset. They

17:31

are entertained by you. They

17:33

don't think you're boring. They don't think you're any

17:36

of the things that they say because they literally

17:38

talk about you night and day. So find it

17:40

as a compliment. I've taught my daughter that. So

17:42

as your daughter gets older, tell

17:44

her these things. It worked. You know,

17:47

we have a saying in our house after I had

17:49

a really hard season, I started

17:51

saying Bobby wanted

17:53

Instagram. She, this is back when she was like 12,

17:55

11. She really

17:58

wanted Instagram and she has. I

18:00

just never tag her because it's

18:03

only her friends right I control follows who

18:05

follows her still I have full access to

18:07

that But I are saying I always

18:09

say to them If

18:11

I find myself going down the rabbit

18:13

hole and getting distracted or if they're

18:15

hearing something from friends I

18:17

always say we don't have time to hear why the haters love us

18:20

today. Oh, I love That

18:24

is such a Statement

18:26

like we don't have time for why

18:28

they screenshot our face in five different

18:30

ways and put it up and sit

18:32

like just leave That be we

18:34

don't have time to hear why the haters love us today.

18:37

I Love that. Oh

18:39

my god. Love that quote such a good quote

21:31

speaking of trolls. Yeah, trolls, not like city.

21:33

Oh my God. No, we need to speak

21:35

of trolls for a second. I

21:37

have to tell you that people used

21:39

to say watching Jersey that they would

21:42

get anxiety. They'd be like, I can't

21:44

even watch it anymore. I have

21:46

anxiety or like, you know, people, our

21:48

show brings a lot of anxiety watching,

21:51

I would say, holy crap. I watched

21:53

your reunion and I looked at my

21:55

husband and I said, I have anxiety

21:57

right now. Like I totally understand. what

22:00

people say about our show because now

22:02

I feel that watching this like Monica

22:05

really brought that level for me of

22:07

like you know what it

22:09

is it's that like talking to a

22:11

wall situation where it's like anything

22:14

that you say it's like the person's

22:16

not understanding or it's like they're going

22:18

to twist it and there's no There's

22:21

no like real form of communication and

22:23

it was driving me crazy

22:25

like the way that whole First

22:28

of all, are you in shock that she got fired?

22:30

Were you expecting it? I'm

22:40

glad she did because people

22:42

like Monica she told us for

22:44

four years with obsessed of this

22:47

Everything we did Curated her

22:50

entire storyline around us

22:52

right? So that's to me is like

22:55

Wow If you stand for that then anyone

22:57

can come on and do that and I mean as someone

22:59

who's come on as Whitney Rose shared

23:02

my real life why I go through every

23:04

year every season. I'm not making it up

23:06

I'm just sharing what's coming in and out

23:08

of my door at the time, right? That's

23:11

what housewives are supposed to do and what

23:13

it's supposed to be and I just want

23:15

to say like bravo to Bravo for

23:18

really taking a stance on this and

23:20

saying like listen to all of the

23:22

other franchises and people troll accounts like

23:24

don't think that this is what you're

23:26

gonna do when you're gonna become a

23:28

Real Housewife like Bravo Bravo. I'm so

23:30

happy that they did that because they're

23:32

really setting a president's on like, you

23:35

know, right? They're like really making

23:37

their mark there like this is unacceptable and we'll never

23:39

do this again, you know, really

23:41

grateful Bravo Protected

23:44

us and had her back because we've been

23:46

through a lot we went through it with

23:48

Jen We went I mean we'd

23:50

tell like see that a lot going on

23:52

right with my issues, especially

23:54

with online stuff with bullying

23:57

on Instagram among the cast so

24:00

I'm so grateful that Bravo protected us

24:02

and said enough is enough and I

24:04

love your wall analogy because it literally

24:07

Whenever she's involved in the conversation

24:09

And it was

24:11

it's like bouncing a ball off the wall, right? It

24:14

just really you I mean, it's like I

24:16

had a fast forward Do my own reunion because

24:18

I could not take her and Lisa screaming

24:21

at each other the whole time like it

24:26

And listen, I know exactly what

24:28

you're saying. It's there's no ending

24:30

to the conversation so it's like

24:32

when you are dealing with a

24:34

situation where No one it's

24:36

like talking like to a wall I don't know how

24:38

else to explain it because it's like There's

24:41

never gonna be an ending because you're

24:43

not getting through and there's never really

24:45

like a full adult conversation going on

24:48

so it's like it's hard

24:50

and that's how I kind of felt when you guys

24:52

were discussing things with Monica because I Was

24:54

getting annoyed like I wanted to host that because I was

24:57

like wait, wait, wait, wait Like I didn't

24:59

get an answer yet Like I feel like

25:01

she would kind of beat around the bush on a lot

25:03

of the answers and I'm like no Why is Andy not

25:05

like I'm not accepting that answer. I need

25:07

to understand Like why she

25:10

did these things like she just kept

25:12

putting it on the other people with

25:14

this account But it wasn't like I

25:17

wanted her to take full accountability Like

25:19

I did this and like I

25:22

feel like she didn't say that right? Well,

25:24

that's that was the hard thing is

25:26

like she came in a zero remorse

25:29

The zero accountability and she

25:31

wasn't sorry. She said she'd do it again great

25:34

and you know, she even went as far

25:36

as Because become

25:38

my conics by bringing a burn book

25:41

right and you know here people right

25:43

now are really coming after so like And

25:47

one of the biggest things that I see every day

25:49

is how can you forgive Heather who lied to you?

25:52

For a year or two years,

25:54

you know, however long it was but you

25:56

don't you can't forgive Monica Well, yes,

25:59

the black situation, Heather lied

26:02

about it. I get why. I don't

26:04

like that she did it, but Heather

26:06

took accountability. She sat there and answered

26:09

every one of Andy's questions. Monica

26:12

sat there and blamed everyone else.

26:14

She never took accountability for yes, she's a

26:16

part of the account. Yes, she's nervous. She

26:20

wasn't sorry. She said she wasn't. You

26:22

know what? Heather was lying about was

26:24

also something that had to do with

26:26

herself. It wasn't about her hurting everyone

26:28

else. Right. So it's a little

26:30

it's much different than like someone

26:33

lying, but they've actually been torturing you for

26:35

the last four years. Heather

26:37

was not torturing you guys. She wasn't being fully

26:39

honest, but she wasn't hurting you either. So it's

26:41

a big difference. There's a big difference there. Yeah.

26:43

And there was a big legal side to the

26:45

black eye as well. So I get why Heather

26:48

did what she did. Like it, I

26:50

understand whether anyone likes it or not. You

26:52

can see where her point of view, right?

26:55

She explained it. So do you remember this

26:57

Von Teese account? Like, do you remember things

26:59

that used to say to you like specific

27:01

things that would this be an account that

27:03

you would notice and be like, who is

27:06

this evil human? So not,

27:08

not out of the gates. No, not at all.

27:10

In fact, they were never really

27:13

rude about me in the beginning. It was

27:15

all about Jun Shou exposing Jun Shou. Got

27:17

it. I would do, so I

27:19

never even followed at the account. I

27:21

never engaged with the account. If

27:23

they said something extremely nice, I hearted

27:26

the message maybe three times. Got it. So they

27:29

were good to you. They were nice to

27:31

me. They were nice to me. I

27:33

remember it was behind the scenes.

27:35

There was a few things they

27:37

posted that weren't,

27:40

but they weren't anything that I,

27:43

I mean I still didn't keep you up

27:45

at night. You weren't one of the people

27:47

that this account was like trolling. No. But

27:49

here's the problem is that account allegedly

27:52

is related to two other accounts

27:54

that were relentless against

27:57

me, my husband, my daughter.

28:00

my marriage, my busy.

28:02

So, you know,

28:04

it's, he says she wasn't a part

28:06

of those, but there's enough like

28:09

evidence, if you will, to believe that she

28:11

was in some capacity or knew

28:14

about it. And, you know, but

28:16

it was also her best

28:19

friend turned on her and that's how we

28:22

got all the information, right? Tanisha. So I

28:25

got to see the text messages and

28:28

DMs between the group of them. And

28:31

if I don't care what the account

28:33

posted, what Monica said about me and

28:35

messages behind my back

28:37

is what I was like, okay, I'm glad

28:39

I found out now. Because

28:41

this would have all like, this would have come

28:43

back and bit me later. Oh, yeah.

28:47

You don't like me. You're, you made all this up to

28:49

be my friend to get on the show. You

28:51

can't listen. It's like they can't hire

28:53

actresses to be she's literally coming in

28:55

her like her role. She thinks she's

28:57

coming in like her acting position.

29:00

And she's like planning it out with

29:02

her mother that she hates. It's just

29:04

the most bizarre. Like, I

29:07

cannot handle it.

29:10

Because you're always sensitive here

29:12

because I do have a very

29:14

dysfunctional relationship with some of my

29:16

family members. And I had to stop talking

29:18

to my father because it's so toxic. Wow.

29:20

But and I've entered into him for two

29:22

years. So I get what that looks

29:25

like. And that's why I had

29:27

empathy and sympathize with her and

29:29

really gave her a chance because

29:31

there's all these red flags and

29:33

all these rumors about her. But I

29:35

ignored them and just focused on getting

29:39

to know her as she presented

29:41

herself. But her mom, like,

29:43

who do you think wanted me to house life more

29:45

her or Linda, her mom? I

29:48

mean, they both equally thought this

29:50

was like their big break, I

29:52

think like I, I'm

29:54

not sure who wanted it more. I think

29:56

they're in like a competition type of relationship.

29:59

I I think it was sad

30:01

to watch that. I did emphasize with her,

30:03

like if I didn't know all the other

30:05

things she's done wrong, I

30:07

would say like hurt people hurt people,

30:09

right? So I do see that in

30:12

her and I see her just never

30:14

being taught how to treat people nicely

30:16

because she was never treated nicely. Well,

30:18

it's hard though. I guess

30:20

what I'm trying to get at is it's

30:24

like hard to believe anything that she says now

30:26

because I hear that her and Linda

30:29

are just fine. Like I really

30:31

need the word on the street. Yeah. So

30:33

it's like, I don't know. I'm just, I wish Monica the best. I wish

30:35

Linda the best. I

30:37

hope that Monica's girls are doing well and

30:41

we'll see what Monica's next chapter

30:43

is. But you, you

30:47

can't sustain lying on

30:49

the show. Some people

30:51

do. Some people do for a while. But

30:55

it cannot, you always get caught.

30:57

There is no way. The truth

30:59

always comes out between the show,

31:01

between the Instagrams, between their threads.

31:04

There's, there's just too many avenues

31:06

now. Like just forget it. Just

31:08

come on and be you and

31:10

own your shit. And that's it.

31:13

It's like, there's no other way

31:15

around it. There's just not, not

31:17

in this day and age. I don't even know how

31:19

people like, like people know

31:21

every move everyone makes. There's cameras everywhere.

31:24

There's like, you know, I said that to

31:26

my mom the other day. I'm like, how, so when

31:28

daddy used to leave the house, I'm like, you had

31:30

no cell phone, no beeper. Like, how did

31:32

you know what time he was going to come home for dinner? Like how do

31:35

you know where he is? Like she's like,

31:37

you don't, you just wait for them to come home.

31:39

And like, and I'm like, and then they just walk in

31:41

the door whenever they walk in. It's just so crazy

31:44

to me. Like I don't even remember that,

31:46

that life, not having the cell phones and

31:48

stuff. It's like insane. No, I

31:50

know. I mean, I

31:53

got a cell phone when I was 17. Yeah.

31:57

But I do remember the days where we

31:59

had to call. Like I call my friend's

32:01

house and be like, hi, is Melissa home? Okay.

32:04

I like my bike over. Those

32:06

were the days though. Like I, I,

32:08

I miss that so much. I miss

32:11

that. That's

32:13

like, but it's true. You can't

32:15

do anything anymore. Like everyone's always,

32:17

especially I can't imagine being in

32:19

your shoes because just four seasons

32:22

in already. I

32:24

know I'm being photographed in films when I'm in

32:26

public. Yeah. When you don't even know. Like when

32:28

you do not even know it, like I could

32:30

be checking out at ShopRite and they're behind me

32:32

videoing it. And I had no idea that, you

32:35

know, and then they post it later on. I'm like, Oh,

32:37

all right. You should have said hi or something. You know,

32:39

it's like, it is a

32:41

hard part of being on reality TV. Obviously we

32:44

get a lot of perks, right? With our businesses

32:46

and you have a great podcast and you know,

32:48

I, I have this, I have envy, I'm opening

32:50

a new store. There's always great perks, but there's

32:53

also a lot of like negatives. It's just, it

32:55

goes, there's the pros and the cons with this

32:57

whole. With this whole reality TV

32:59

world. But I will say like when it, you

33:01

know what Monica should do? She should go to

33:04

house of villains. That's what she should do. She

33:08

should go jump on a house of villains. Like

35:24

Visit apartments.com, the place to find a

35:26

place. I know this

35:28

is kind of personal but do you want to talk

35:30

at all about how you left your religion

35:32

at all? Like how you've left and where you're at

35:35

with that right now? I mean you could talk as

35:37

little as much as you want about it. Yeah no

35:39

it's such um I thank

35:42

you for asking because I just recently lost

35:44

my grandfather um his funeral

35:47

was last week and I it just

35:49

it was it is sad he's 92

35:52

but it was beautiful

35:55

in a sense because I got to remember

35:57

the legacy that I come from. So I

36:00

My mom said both

36:02

of her parents come

36:05

from more

36:07

of a pioneer family. So my family

36:10

really was responsible for building

36:12

Utah. They came across the

36:15

plains, which was a founded

36:17

American Fork Pleasant Grove. A

36:20

bunch of the, all

36:22

of the land here in the general, like

36:24

100 miles, my family owns.

36:27

Oh my God. Wow. It's pretty crazy.

36:30

Yeah. So my, you

36:32

know, my grandpa was born in a

36:34

chicken coop. He was, had nothing and

36:37

he built this huge legacy of

36:39

farming. He's a county rancher. He

36:41

ran 600 head of cattle until he was 92.

36:43

He bred race horses. So he really went from nothing to having

36:46

a legacy. Like,

36:52

I mean, we're talking for, I'm the fifth

36:54

generation of a Mormon pioneer family. I'm named

36:56

after a Mormon pioneer who

36:58

came across the plains and died

37:00

during giving childbirth. So

37:03

I would say I, yeah, I'm

37:05

no longer a Mormon. I

37:08

grew up very Mormon. I was devout.

37:11

I was the Amal and Mormon they call

37:13

them. We do everything right. I

37:15

would did everything. Dotted

37:18

my eyes, crossed my T's,

37:20

mind my Q's. And

37:23

when I was, in fact, when I was 18, I had the

37:25

opportunity when I graduated high school, some

37:28

of my girlfriends were going to Maui for a senior

37:30

girls trip. And I chose to go

37:32

on a three, three week church history tour. Wow. So

37:35

I got on a bus and I drove all

37:37

the way from Utah, all the way

37:39

to Palmyra, New York and back. I went to

37:41

every church history site along the way. So

37:44

that same night though, I came home and had my

37:46

first beer. Okay. There's

37:49

no balance here. Like, what just

37:51

happened? How that confused me. And

37:53

I started down the path of, wait,

37:56

do I really believe this? Or is this just what

37:58

I've been told I need to do? Am

38:01

I seeking validation because I'm not getting it

38:03

at home? Am I just finding

38:05

that validation from church? Like it's

38:07

feeding me that I'm like getting all

38:09

of my validation and approval from my

38:11

church leaders and my peers that way.

38:14

Right and balance and structure and it's

38:16

like, oh, I'm part of something that

38:18

loves me and important and this is

38:20

my faith and I guess I

38:22

could do them like I was escaping in the

38:24

church is like escapism. So it's

38:26

like I really appreciate the years

38:30

I spent. But I also had a lot

38:32

of years of hard times and some

38:35

abuse happened and things like that. So I would say

38:37

I haven't been active for 16 years, 17 years and

38:39

I have removed my name from

38:48

the records, which was devastating to my

38:50

family given our heritage. Right. But

38:53

for me, that was the

38:55

final step for me to have closure on the

38:58

past. But going to my

39:00

grandpa's funeral, it's like, yeah, I am very proud

39:02

of my family legacy and

39:04

my ancestors. I would not be walking

39:06

the path I walk had they not

39:08

had the courage and faith to do what

39:10

they did, even though I

39:13

don't believe in the doctrine. But

39:15

I believe in the hardworking people. That's

39:17

where my entrepreneurism comes from, my

39:19

hard work ethic and my resilience.

39:22

That's in my DNA. Well, it's a

39:24

beautiful thing that you figured that out and know where

39:26

you want to stand and know what your faith is

39:29

right now. And is your husband the same? Are you

39:31

guys the same or how does that go? Yeah,

39:33

he was born and raised LDS. He

39:36

in fact was the first person in

39:38

his entire family ever. Wow.

39:40

Wow. Yes. Okay.

39:44

Generate like generation upon generation.

39:46

So it's been harder for

39:48

him. He's a little bit. I

39:50

would say further behind on the journey of

39:52

it being concrete for him that

39:55

he is no longer LDS. He he

39:57

was actually I removed my name. name

40:00

from the church and he was excommunicated.

40:03

So you know it's the difference

40:07

of men and women. Men hold the power in

40:10

the church so he wasn't following

40:12

the rules so he got kicked out. That's

40:14

how that happens okay. Yeah and I was

40:16

I wasn't following the rules but they wanted

40:18

to keep me. Okay okay so they were

40:20

like no we like her she's good we're

40:22

keeping her. I wanted

40:25

to ask you you know I

40:27

didn't know how much you want to talk about

40:29

it but I was interested in that because I

40:31

just find the whole you know it's very interesting

40:33

anything that's out of my faith I am always

40:35

curious about other faiths and how they go and

40:37

the thought process on everything so yeah I'm

40:41

very virtual I would say that I'm

40:43

raising my kids to believe in God

40:46

higher power something we definitely

40:48

we live in a gratitude mindset and you

40:50

always give the gratitude back to your creator

40:53

so for example I pray

40:55

to higher power my daughter prays to Heavenly

40:57

Father and my son prays

40:59

to creator. Wow

41:01

so it's like a different language but

41:03

we're all saying the same thing. Wow

41:06

that's beautiful. Yeah and we've been going

41:08

on and off throughout the years to

41:10

non-denominational Christian church. Okay. My kids actually

41:12

love it they love going for like

41:14

the music and that's awesome I

41:16

love that okay good well thank

41:18

you for sharing I was very curious and I

41:20

was like I didn't know if you would want

41:22

to you know really talk about or not I

41:24

don't like to push anything but I was so

41:26

interested. Very open about it. Okay good. You know

41:28

what you and I I feel like you and

41:30

I met at we didn't meet at Bravo Com

41:33

for the first time right but we we hung

41:35

out there and we did a panel together and

41:37

I was like I could just tell you're a

41:39

girl's girl and I like I loved you from

41:41

the start we had a great panel who are

41:43

we on with like we were with Gigi and

41:45

Lindsay Hubbard right? Yeah and

41:48

Gina from Orange County. And I love her

41:50

too I just had her on the podcast

41:52

too she's so awesome I love her I

41:55

feel like she's I don't know she's

41:57

like a New Yorker she is a New Yorker but I

41:59

love her. I think she's awesome. I

42:01

just had, did you see Watch What Happens

42:03

Live? Oh, I wanna clarify this up. I

42:06

had somebody just went on Watch What Happens Live

42:08

for Potomac. She was a new

42:10

housewife that I guess this was her first

42:13

season, it was her first BravoCon.

42:15

And I have to admit, I haven't

42:17

watched the Potomac housewives in, I feel

42:19

like I like the Potomac housewives a

42:21

lot. I just haven't seen like the

42:23

most recent season or two. I

42:26

have been, and her name was Anika. And

42:28

she went on Watch What Happens Live and

42:30

she said that she didn't

42:32

have like, I guess one of the questions

42:35

was, it was your first BravoCon and

42:37

who was the most dismissive? And she

42:40

said, I hate to say this, but

42:42

I wanna say Melissa Gorga. She's like,

42:44

but Joe Gorga was so amazing. So

42:46

I was like, oh my God. And

42:48

everybody was like sending that to me.

42:50

And I was like trying to figure

42:52

out the situation because it's so unlike

42:54

me. That is like, I would never

42:56

be purposely rude to anyone.

42:59

So if anything, I just feel like there's so

43:02

much going on at BravoCon and I

43:04

will say Joe is known to like have

43:07

a conversation and keep going and going

43:09

while I'm like always tired in my

43:11

feet, and I wanna like keep it

43:13

moving so I can see that. But

43:15

so I found her on Instagram, I

43:18

DM'ed her. And I was like, I

43:20

apologize. I am so sorry. I would

43:22

never be rude to a newbie or

43:24

not give you time or

43:27

say hello. And she was so gracious and

43:29

so nice. She came back and she was

43:31

like, Melissa, you probably didn't even realize my

43:33

husband was talking to Joe and they were

43:35

talking and you walked over to Joe. And

43:38

then I walked over to my husband, but

43:40

you were kinda like, you just kinda like

43:42

retired and walked away. And I was like,

43:44

I apologize. Like I didn't even realize I

43:46

did it. And sometimes, it's a lot because

43:48

I feel like everyone knows us,

43:50

right? But we don't necessarily know

43:53

everyone else. So it kind of puts us in like

43:55

a position where, if

43:57

I knew that that was her, of course I would have spoke to her.

43:59

I would have... spoke to anybody, but you never really

44:01

know the situation. So I just want to

44:03

clarify that on my podcast. I'm sorry, I

44:05

can't tell you. It's so hard because I

44:08

hate when we get asked those questions because

44:10

it just sets us up to pin

44:12

us against each other. But it is

44:14

true, like outside of the House Life shows, if

44:16

there's other shows that maybe I don't watch

44:18

as regularly, it's hard to like, there's

44:22

higher turnover on those, right? So it's hard

44:24

to know. I don't know all the new

44:26

people. And I'm sure, like who knows? Sometimes

44:28

I'm like in my head, I'm thinking about

44:31

something. It's BravoCon. It's freaking Kia's to begin

44:33

with. So it's like, and you want to

44:35

give everyone attention, right? You want to talk

44:37

to everyone and every fan. It's like, you

44:40

get it's exhausting. So if you hit someone

44:42

at the wrong moment when they're in their

44:44

head and they're just walking away, like who

44:47

knows? But I felt terrible. So I just

44:49

wanted to clear that up, that we did

44:51

message each other and that was the situation

44:53

and it was fine for anybody who was

44:55

listening. No, I'm not

44:57

rude, right? Whitney, how was I when I first

45:00

met you? Yeah, I recognized you. It was the

45:02

very first BravoCon that I went to in New

45:04

York. So

45:06

two years ago. We were at

45:09

the Ganzivore and you were in the lobby

45:12

and I instantly recognized you and Joe. And

45:15

I just came up to you and said, hey, now

45:17

that I've been at BravoCon for one day, I

45:20

totally get it. You don't want to talk to

45:22

me right now. I just have to tell you

45:24

that I do love you and I've always been

45:26

a major fan. And next time I want to

45:29

come to Jersey and see your store. Oh, you're

45:31

so cute. And you're like, you're so nice. And

45:33

then Joe, I could tell Joe was dead. He's

45:35

just staring at me and he's like, hey, this

45:37

is next BravoCon. He is

45:40

exactly what you said. He

45:43

wouldn't stop talking to Justin. It

45:45

was so amazing. He

45:47

and Justin were having a great time. And yeah, you

45:49

and I just went off. I went to one corner, you

45:51

went to another. I'm like, I got to sit down

45:53

and just be alone for a minute. Yeah. It

45:56

depends on the time of day you hit

45:58

someone up at BravoCon. I will say like

46:01

because it is you don't you don't know something you

46:03

they could have just walked past somebody that it Startled

46:06

them or they didn't like or someone could

46:08

have just you just don't know There's just

46:10

so much going on So it's like you

46:12

hit at the right time you will be

46:14

invited to Sunday dinner because that's Joe Yeah,

46:18

I it was he was so amazing. We ran

46:21

into him a lot

46:23

over Bravo con and it it

46:25

you know Justin lives for those

46:27

moments because he You know the

46:29

dudes just want to be with the

46:31

dude course. Yes, especially like the cool

46:33

dudes, right? You were so

46:35

nice and I met you and it was like late.

46:38

It was at the end a long day It was

46:40

late night and and

46:42

I think you even DM me back after

46:44

cuz I was like I want to get

46:46

prism into your store. Magillary line. Oh, okay

46:49

good Yeah

46:53

You did okay, great your team's information

46:55

and I know now we're fast forward

46:57

a year later But I

46:59

barely missed this the the whole

47:01

like scuffle in the lobby remember.

47:04

Oh my gosh Away

47:09

from that that happened right after

47:11

I saw you. Oh, what a shit show,

47:13

right? So that's why we were probably just

47:16

like staring into space that that was very

47:18

late night in the hotel That

47:20

that's so funny. Oh my god. It's so crazy

47:22

that this season that's about to air We

47:25

actually touch on that Bravo con which

47:27

is like feels like forever ago

47:29

at this point That's it's

47:32

so crazy. But anyway, Whitney. Thank you so much

47:34

for taking the time to come on today. I

47:36

think you're awesome I

47:38

think empathy really helps solve a lot

47:41

of problems And I think many of

47:43

us learn how to practice empathy from

47:45

you because you're you're great at that

47:47
