After taking a break from the music world and starting a coffee shop called Quitters (not joking), Kathleen Edwards is back and doing part of her tour with Dawes as her backing band. In our world this is the biggest news of 2016 so far. Two of our favorite musicians unexpectedly deciding to work with each other over a public Twitter exchange, and we couldn't be happier.
Even though Ms. Edwards' first two albums Failer and Back to Me are constantly being played at my house, Empty Threat, the song/video above, is off of her most recent release Voyageur.
Edwards seems to consistently have lines like, "I'm moving to America, it's an empty threat" that catch my attention. An earlier song, Hockey Skates, draws upon a similar tongue in cheek idea with, "I'm tired of playing defense, and I don't even have hockey skates"
Some good songs as an introduction:
Hockey Skates (included for the laugh)
Side note, she's hysterical so follow her on twitter @kittythefool, and to see if she surprisingly decides to tour with any of your favorite bands as her backing band.
