The Party by Andy Shauf was release May 20th, 2016 by ANTI Records. 

"Do-It-Yourself" is often a credo for home improvement enthusiasts or arts and craft hobbyists. For young Canadian songwriter, Andy Shauf, "Do-It-Yourself" is a musical reality, as well as a tried and true formula for achieving his signature sound. 

Raised in Saskatchewan, Shauf achieved initial critical acclaim for his sophomore release, The Bearer of Bad News, a collection of songs performed and recorded entirely by himself in his parents' basement. TBOBN is often praised for its subdued but sweet, Elliot Smith-like vocals and the persistent inclusion of a clarinet, played by none other than Shauf himself.  In a few interviews, Shauf explains that the clarinet was his grandfather's that he happened to find one day in his parents' home. 

With The Party (ANTI), Shauf's latest release, the Canadian songwriter narrates the happenings of - you guessed it - a party. Interestingly, each of the album's ten songs are told from a different perspective, formulating a complex and deep tale of a night mostly gone wrong. The songs are among the most uptempo Shauf has ever written, and its 70s-sounding, lush orchestral arrangements fill space in some beautiful and interesting ways.
