A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR

The creation of this work was inspired from my own experiences at Mars Hill University as both a student and professor, as I've observed the many disparities and unfair moments concerning Black and Indigenous People of Color in Madison County.  I often feel helpless to create change for my friends, students, and family members... so when I first learned of this story, I knew it was time to find a way to tell it without making white folks the center of attention.  When I feel helpless, I turn to creating art.  I am privileged and blessed beyond measure to have never experienced hardships in life because of the color of my skin. Therefore, I must do the work to be actively anti-racist. Thank you for listening to this radio play, and I continually implore you to come along with us on the journey to dismantle white supremacy in all forms and in all capacities, great or small.  Silence is violence, so we call on you to be loud with us.  Please share this with your friends and family and support one another in the uncomfortable feelings that many of us will have as we listen to this work. Black Lives Matter.
